just want to set the record straight about those of you doubting this happened. marcy was the caretaker of this kitten for 6 months. if any of you are calling marcy a liar, you can take it from me she isn't. marcy is thee biggest animal lover i know, and wouldn't fabricate an atrocious story about a kitten being brutally beaten for attention.

What a SICK person. I think they should allow public stoning and punishment. I know it doesn't change anything but at least she would know what it feels like and get a bit of the misery she caused. I know this post is probably late, but those of you that can, should really look into court records for other animal crimes in Yavapai County, and the lack of prosecution! Perhaps another petition should be filed against the prosecutors handling these cases. Perhaps they should have to go before the state bar for negligence! or maybe 5 on our side or 3, whatever that is, should get hold of this.
I want to tell you that Yavapai County Attorneys seem to have no regard for much of anything but sitting on their asses, when it comes to prosecuting such crimes. There is a couple living in Ash Fork, who about 6 years ago, were caught and supposedly prosecuted for killing over a hundred animals, by starvation, mutilation and neglect. They had cats locked up in a mobile home that
were eating thier kittens! Names are Roger & Merry Bane. Look them up on Prescott Courier Archives & Pub Records

We need to keep up the effort. Charges have been pressed but we do still need to be vigilant to make sure they are sentenced appropriately. A Prescott Valley woman was arrested for animal cruelty. Sgt. Brandon Bonnie says the investigation began on February 7-th when they received a 911 complaint of a female that was screaming and yelling and what sounded like a cat being thrown around.
Officers found 21-year old Laura Ann King and a deceased 8-month old cat inside the residence. Bonnie says a necropsy was conducted on the cat and it showed numerous injuries which were consistent with blunt force trauma. Bonnie says felony and misdemeanor charges are being pursued against King for animal cruelty and disorderly conduct. King posted bond and is currently not in custody.
No, this is not made up. I not only live in Prescott but just got off the phone w/the Yavapai Humane Society who verified that this did indeed happen. Possibly the case will be reopened as Harper was sent to Phoenix for an official autopsy and is pending pathology reports. Lets all keep our fingers crossed that the person(s) responsible for Harper's unfortunate death will get their just reward. Rest in peace sweet kitty, we are doing our darndest down here to make this right :)

Believe it or not there are people in the world who are trying to help by creating no-kill rescues where animals are kept until they find a home. They are fostered by a family who cares for them, sometimes rehabilitates them and loves them until they find a forever home. Human stupidity and lack of education caused this problem.
