  • ...this is beautiful.

  • ¡¡¡UST CSM!!!

  • Do you remember what they sky used to look like?

  • Pa los que cachan este tema es pa la U S. tomas

  • LA MUSICA DE SANTO TOMAS JAJAJAJAJ XD

  • santo tomas music xDD

  • anyone ever heard the sts9 cover?

  • wow. those pepsi cans at the end of the video prove that this clip is from the mid-1990s, not the 1960s as this video might suggest.

The footage looks like it's from 40 years ago but infact, it's just 10 or 15 years ago or so--- proof: the pepsi cans.

Nice job though, the film makers obviously used old film equipment to record it. Nice. Awesome idea, I would like to try it too. '

Aside from that, it brings tears to the eyes of parents who now have grown children. It invokes nice memories.

  • This reminds me so much of my older sister and I, right up until the point where they run up and have a nice meal with a nice family. Sadness.

  • This must be what it's like when you're dying and your life flashes before your eyes; snapshots of distant happy memories with a touch of sadness.

  • @bunclip Perhaps, but if God's going to judge us based on our actions ... And, well, we tend to remember the negative more than the positive, so it would be curious if at death happy memories surface.

  • @AetheriusLamia True, the bad things seem to stick in your head more than the good. It's a shame because it's so important to die peacefully. We need to get into the habit of remembering the good things we've done to help others.

  • @bunclip what a comment sir, you got me.

    thanks for sharing.

  • @ganfald You're welcome, thanks for the comment.

  • memories

  • Omg - happy childhood.

  • in the background it sounds like a japanese girl saying "hey!"

  • @NITESHADOWshouske - The girl is actually saying "Lake" and it's a sample from a Sesame Street episode.

But it doesn't really matter what she is saying. This is an incredible tune and probably my favourite piece of music of all time.

  • There's something about this song that makes me want to play Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (don't worry! It's a good thing!) Something about it reminds me of the music in that game. Love it!

  • Assoluto!!!

  • I'm gonna play BoC and read some science fiction. Its gonna kick SO MICH ASS.

  • oh to be a child

  • they look exactly like me and my sister when i was 4

  • das ist ein sehr schönes lied! :-)

  • BoC are amazing.... But im not quite sure. It's beautiful and at the same time sort of scary.

  • @KyUHLz I wish someone could explain this phenomenon, because I know exactly what you mean.

  • best pepsi commercial ive ever seen

  • I feel like this could have been on an episode of Sesame Street. VERY WELL DONE!

  • Fantastic video.

Please have also a look at my personal video on Roygbiv.

  • IZ A BITTA ROYGBIV

  • *insert epic comment here*

  • Absolutely bang on the money!

  • it seems kind of simple. that's good creatively, but as for artistically, I'm not sure if it fits my own personal image of elaborate colors and sequences put to "ROYGBIV". Some of the more human, down-to-earth BoC fan videos are good, tho.

  • It's a real shame this song is quite short.

  • So nostalgic!

  • super music!!!wonderful!!!

  • Timeless.

  • Nice and very simple

  • Hey bud..

I have watched your roygbiv video so many times and every time it strikes a nerve with me...

I also have kids at this age and my wife has asked me to ask you where this video footage is from? Is it from an old National Film Board of Canada film? It is just so amazing to see how it relates to our lives at the moment- even the little boy looks like our son ,lol

Could you shed any light on this? We love your work and are looking deeper into it. Thanks!

  • I don't know the reason for the clip, but there seems to be an misunderstanding about the title (or I may have misunderstood you). "Boards of Canada" is the title of the band who made the song, not "National Film Board of Canada".

If I misunderstood you, then I am sorry (and a little embarrassed)

  • hey guess what im not joking but that was me when i was 4 like that boy is ME! i remember it!

  • i still have a tear in my eye every time i watch this

I don't know exactly why, but I suspect it's because I also have a young family like this and I relate to the picnic thing- clapping like a young kid, running in the fields, eating chicken and drinking pop on a sunday aftternoon...

this is real life. anythting else is a side track of life and misses it.

  • Family. Money and materials are just "things" and if chased, lead to a dead end. Old, rich and lonely are are where the pursuit of these things lead you- just ask my rich cousin. He'd gladly cash in everything he has in exchange to be part of a happy family. But he chose to be greedy and chase money. Now he's old and lonely. He missed out on life's *real* riches. No Sunday picnics, no hugs from his kids, no wife to sleep beside at night. This song is all about family.

  • If you have young kids (age 1-4) then you can really relate to what's going on in this this video along with the music. That's what I'm getting at here.

  • this video makes us ALL think of our childhoods. Summer afternoon, a picnic with our family while the sun shines down through the trees.

This is a serious gem for all of us.

It really relates to a small corner of all our minds and memories.

An absolute *perfect* choice for video footage for this song. Hands down.

  • Amazing Song

  • I love tone (colours) of the video. something old

  • god damn this song makes me want to cry in such a good way

  • Roygbiv digs deep into my happy careless child memories. A simple yet perfect video subject for the song. Amazing!

  • this is just.... <3

  • In my opinion this is the best BoC video on youtube.

  • yes

  • finally a youtube BoC vid with original footage!

  • Yeah boards of canada rock

  • boards of canada are the best ones !!!!!

  • The 80's uk television video is fits it better IMO. =) Good job bud!

  • Nice video, but ROYGBIV is about discovery in the context of SCIENCE!

  • Pretty :)

  • this is just what it felt like.

  • hm (youtube says thats too short of a response.)

  • the truth is almost here , but here in this movie is too real :)

  • Really fits the tune

  • wow, this is awesome

  • @ Seiphroth,

Actually I personally think that this video embodies the song even more, bringing out the child like themes with images of kids running around and playing, almost as if it's one of them watching their home videos from when they were kids and reminiscing of a better and easier time. That's just my take on it though!

  • The fan made vid containing just eighties ads is a lot better then this.

  • Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vein or roygbiv for short =D

  • I don't think that anyone will every be able to enjoy this song as much as I do.

  • LOL what a weird comment

  • not really.

  • How could he know that nobody will enjoy this as much as him?

  • Ok well I didn't cry...

  • Meaning?... :-)

  • I could've sworn I saw Ksi said he cried, so I guess I didn't enjoy the video as much as him, but I don't think it's a weird comment to say that anyone will ever be able to enjoy it as much as him, because it seems like that whenever I play it to other people, like other people don't get the full awesomeness of this song.

  • oh ok; he did say it up there, I thought it was after in this reply area.

    How are you?

  • Oh i'm okay thank you. :-D..But no, i didn't cry as well. But still, i think saying that you'e THE ONLY ONE who enjoys it on a high level is like saying, ''i'm the only one who likes ketchup on my pizza'' ....It's rare that other people put ketchup on their pizza.. But it happens. You're not the only one! And even if you're the only one to admit it, there might be others who like the ketchup on there but are too ashamed to talk about it... Good example isn't it? :-D ahaha LOL srr man..

  • Yes, good example!

Ketchup on pizza is not weird!

  • LOL,

    Ketchup on pizza = yummy!

  • hahaha these replies to my comment are even weirder than my comment.

  • good video

  • To me this is THE VIDEO for Roy G Biv period. Flawless...says it all.

  • Very cute!!

  • I always thought this song had a bouncy magical childlike wonder vibe to it.When your a child lifes kind of a dreamlike state.Nice job.

  • sweet :)

  • im not trying to be dramatic or sound artsy, but this almost makes me want to cry. its so beautiful.

  • verry true i think everyone get's the same feeling. Just doesn't say it

  • this did make me cry =)

  • @soundLIGHTradio sure, of course someone with the username soundLIGHTradio wouldn't want to sound artsty... that would just be incredibly pretentious, right?

  • Very nice!Much happier and pleasant than some I have seen for this song...

  • Uncanny resemblance to something BOC would've done themselves. Very well done--did you actually get permission from them? I thought they didn't really do that whole "speaking to people" thing. ;)

  • that's not video at all. EET'S FEELM! what kind of stock did that guy use? weird color/exposure for sure.

  • idk this actually looks like video to me....

  • nostalgic....

  • Cool video! Goes really good with the song ...Love it.

  • Great vid!!

Reminds of the old days going camping in Canada as a child. Those were great times!

  • ahh family outing meets BOC.. how cute

  • I love this!

  • Did a great job. Maybe more mystery because Boards of Canada is like that. Good job though.

  • Good job!

  • i totally understand what you were going for. too bad you did not make use of real super8 footage or at least try to emulate the look. more desaturated, washed out, less videolike. what would have helped was if you didnt show the faces of people, blurred the image, induced some mystery to the picture, be less exact and factual. on the other hand i think you did a quite good job

  • well...since you seem to know so much about film, don't you think if he was really going for the "super8" look it would be in 16:9 format?

  • dont mistake super8 for super16. super8 gates dont offer 16:9 aspect ratios even though it makes use of more of the negative than normal 8, but then again the same as double 8. what you get is something around 1:1.36 which does not correspond to 1:1.78 you would need for true 16:9, which means he would need to do some cropping or use anamorphic lenses which is a bit far out for super8 filmmakers. so what you get with super8 is 4:3 picture framing.

  • @nundale wow...replying to a 3 year old comment. I completely agree with you. This video could've been near perfect. It's a little too obvious. However, it still gets the job done.

  • Aw. That wasn't the kind of thing I usually imagine when I hear the song. But it gave me a new perspective... and made me nostalgic...
