i've had one for 10 years. i've replaced the power tubes twice and the speakers once. The preamp tubes burned out and i didn't bother replacing them because i was never a fan of the preamp. It's o.k., I would describe it's sound as very tweed. Not as bright as a fender by any means. The sound doesn't really cut through or sound ballsy, but it has nice tube qualities. well worth the money (used $500) don't spend over $800.
Hey a vaccum cleaner with a pair of barber clippers, wah b damn it even sounds like theres also a guitar amp being played and some guy rambling about somethien !
Hi! How loud can this guitar amp get? Is that I'm searching for a louder guitar amp than a S.S. Fender Princeton 650 65w amp (without no PA helping)! I'll apreciate the help!
I've got a Fender Blues jr (1x12) and have been looking at a 2x12 combo to use as a lead amp so I'd get more natural distortion. This amp and the deluxe are "pretty fuckin' close" but this baby gets kinda a Gary Rossington bite which I love. Great vid!!!
HEY loborneta..............thanks for your "friendly: advice. Except that it was uninformed and CONDESCENDING. You act like you know what your talking about, which you don't. How long eactly should he have warmed up the tubes? Where is your experience coming from since you seem to know so much?
Tubes use an AC power supply to warm up the plates inside them, and then a DC power supply to drive them. The standby switch would toggle the DC side. It's like if you put a hot glass pan on a cold over burner, the rapid change in temperature puts stress on the glass and, in the case of the last time I made a delicious cake, cause it to shatter. Same reason you let your car warm up for a bit before driving when you live in the frozen north of Rochester NY.
this amp is a diamond in the rough. i've had it for 10 yrs. and it still continues to surprise me. easily should go for $500 more than it does. never sell it!
whatever you condescending tool. how long SHOULD he have warmed up the tubes? are you a snob that just posts fake advice to make you look like you actually know something. don't post if you are ignorant. thank you
That was probably the harshest and most inappropriate response to a polite suggestion I've ever heard. Before you wig out, you should check to see if your the ignorant snob. It doesn't take long. With google you could've known that allowing PT's to warm up is why most amps have standby switches in the first place.
I just love the sound of the fans when you turn it on!

I have the same only the 4x10 version, build in 2008. The thing blws the skin of your k
nees, man.
1 advise: less treble and more mids, this is bad for your ears.
Oh and 1 other thing, never sell this amp!

Dude aren't tubes supposed to be hot?? not cooled??
B2Rockin 2 years ago 2
@B2Rockin
Well because they're cushioned, they can't get too hot. You don't want 'em lighting the back of the amp on fire, eh? :P haha.
TheDancingSaxophone 1 year ago
@TheDancingSaxophone the cushion just keeps them from vibrating which reduces tube life (big problem with combos).

I think the Peavey Classics have a much better overdrive and distortion sound than the Hot Rod Fenders.

lol you're an asshole dude. if you don't warm tubes before you play them they wear out faster. Anyone who plays guitar knows that.
gemroi 2 years ago
Really, explain why.

That makes sense. I always let my tubes warm up on standby because they seem to sound better. I'm glad I've been doing it now.
