  • ZR1..$103,000 vs Ford GT...$150,000 put $47k into the vette sir. Its common sense. thats probably why you see more vettes runin around than GTs. Dont get me wrong, i would love to own a GT, buit not for that $. Just sayin, when do you see Ford puttin out something with a more reasonable price that will compete with that ZR1, and dont even say GT500...lol

  • @ws6trix16 I'd rather take a GT...stock longblock that will handle 1000 whp. And it costs more simply because it was meant to be a rare car.

  • Yall are comparing a 5.7L maybe a 6.0L vs a 5.0 small block and the weight makes a diff, put a 5.8L 351 in a mustang see who wins or just put yalls little vettes up against a Ford GT;)

  • @TheFordfan96 Don't get me wrong I'm blue oval all the way but since Ford GT is just anniversary for the 40th year it would be mauled by the yearly updated ZR1's, I honestly think they should've kept the Ford GT to their yearly line-up but oh well we will have to wait for 2015 and see if they don't something grand for the 50th anniversary. I hope they will do the Ford GT90 concept again.

  • @TheFordfan96 Nobody buys a Ford GT nor an old 62 to 67 Cobra. Those are ghost cars never on the road. A Corvette ZR1 is King of The Hill a 2012 ZL1 Camaro is #2 then The Shelby Mustang 500.I will not lie. Ford really has come up. GM has it's work cut out.We don't worry we always beat Ford.They can beat Ferrari but can't beat GM

  • Btw a zo6 has a aluminum frame, not the base vettes. That's where the extra weight comes from.

  • He has a vette jackass and you dont. Why argue? A new 5.0 is just as fast as a c5 vette in the quarter. And from a roll, maybe not top speed but it's not even meant for top speed. A used c5 is about 22-27 good condition. A new 5.0 is 30k base model. This just shows the potential of a ohc motor. Plus the 5.0 with a boss intake will rev to 7k+, plus a turbo...made for each other.

  • @Turbo05gt I was able to shift at 7150 with my 2000 FRC that had the Gen 3 LS1... Ive seen LS6's run up to 8000. STOCK with exhaust and tuning.

  • @Turbo05gt C5s only had 350 HP and the average C5 would run lower 13 second to high 12s in the quarter. The autos were pretty slow. Stang should have won. You can buy that Vette for around $19K.

    2 years ago I bought a monster 2000 FRC with heads cam Intake and full exhaust for 15500...I would have tore that mustang up though.. A bone stock C5 with low miles can be found in the low 20's. and even mid to high teens. a C6 can even be found for 25 g's now. Vette's are more affordable than most people think.

  • Yeah modded and tune and all that maybe drag radials, but not BONE stock, high 13's and low 12's is all i've seen, like 12.8 to 12.9.

  • @mtflyboy25 not easy at all there bud. most of the 5.0's cant break past 12.8 range around 111mph mainly do to traction issues but thats what the car comes with crappy tires.

    That C5 corvette looks to be a 97-99 year model. The automatics run mid to high 13s stock.

  • @antigrav04GTI The vette ran a 14.757 according to my slip.. at 99.8 mph.. Not bad considering the high DA that day. 8500+.

  • @mtflyboy25 True. Thanks for the info. I have a C5 and sold my C5Z last year. I am seriously considering getting a new 5.0 when I get out of school. I came from the import scene but I like muscle better. I notice the Ford vs Chevy debates are just as hot as the import vs muscle debates lol. Just looking at the videos seeing how well they perform. Nice car.

  • @antigrav04GTI No problem man. I HIGHLY recommend the new 5.0. It is a killer. Sadly I hit a deer in mine which then led me to go off the road and hit a tree so mine is gone :( But I will be getting another possibly. They are comfy amazingly fast cars that respond to the cheapest mods. I mean I was pushing almost 500 crank hp with simple mods! I have an import haha. A 91 Honda CRX with a 98 JDM B18c in it. Fully caged and stripped lol. I am working on finishing it right now.

My plans right now are to build my lil ricer to be fun, and take the full drivetrain from the mustang and put it into something else. Like a 53 ford f100 truck... Or maybe an S2000. That would be sick. Import + Muscle = Win haha

  • The vette sounded stock. If your car was an 11 second car, i would think you would put more distance on a c5 vette than that.

  • @mtflyboy25 hey bro .. nice race .. i love your car .. but friendly said : there is something wrong here or your car has power loss due to unpropper tuning or (( o2 sensors fault )) after you installed your headers .. because stock 5.0 mt mustangs can do 12.8 , and your car did 13.1 .. cause i honestly was expecting you to do like atleast 12.4 or 12.2@115 .. so try to get some propper tuning cause really you have a nice ride and it has alot more than that :)

  • @IRONHIDE110 yeah, it is on a canned tune, but running quite right. This race is at 5800 ft above sea level. You lose about 15% of your power, so my 450 crank turns into 382 crank and that makes m,e push only about 330 to the ground if that much due to drivetrain loss... If you correct my time for sea level it is an 11.7@125

  • You guys are retards. A c5 will easily beat a gt 5.0. C5 weights about 3000 pounds and GT is 3800 pounds. A good driver can smoke 2011 mustang gt

  • @TheSlimsol Here is where you are wrong. Look up the C5's horsepower. 345-350 crank...thats pathetic really. The STOCK 5.0 makes around 367-370 WHEEL. Even weighing more, the GT will win. That is a HUGE difference. With simple bolt ons the 5.0 surpasses 400whp with ease. The C6 is a better challenger.

  • @TheSlimsol c5 is not 3000 pounds its 3400 and gt is not 3800 pounds its 3600 so get your facts straight .My c6 z06 weighs 3150 and is the lightest vette out there c5 is a lot heavier in regular form.A stock 5.0 2011 gt will easily beat a c5 vette not a c5 z06 but a regular one is an easy target for gt 2011.

  • Not to be a dick but, this vette in the video wasn't a C6. It was a C5. Two ways ya can identify this, if ya look closely, the emblem on the hood is the cross checkered flag but its got a ring around the emblem. Along with the rear end being shaped differently, dead smack in between the quad tail lights it spells out corvette.. On the c6 the cross flag emblem takes its place in the middle of those tail lights...Lettering is on bottom left.Very close in resemblance though. American muscle FTW!!

When I was a kid I got a muscle car book for christmas, at the time I was like what the hell is this and kind of threw it to the side(Im not a big reader, unless it interests me)... When I got older is when I appreciated it and read it cover to cover numerous times... Alot of good info.....

  • @uga3Xsuperbowlmvp Bring it. I have raced several C6 vettes the track and spanked them. It took a C5Z with cams and bolt ons to edge me out. His 11.78 to my 11.80. While teh C6 vettes that was there was running 12,7 or worse. This was 3 weeks ago in 87* weather.
