I see it said "R.I.P" for one of your gerbils who later died, and three years old? Probably because you fed them junk. I had a gerbil who lived for nearly seven years. They are animals, to love, and care for. Not something to play with. They do look pretty unhealthy. Next time if you get some, stay away from popcorn (unless its home popped with no salt and no butter) and table scraps like that. =] They'll live a lot longer, and a lot happier.

@blackprmatrix Start with just putting your hand in the cage flat, palm up.

Just hold it there for a while.

Eventually your gerbil will wonder what it is.

Make sure you wash your hands, gerbils can't see too well and might think your hand is food.

Keep doing this at least twice a day, eventually it will realize you are not a threat and you can start to pick it up when it's on your hand.

I've got 3 gerbils, 1 loves being held the other two, not as much.

For the record you can feed gerbs bagged popcorn as long as it's unsalted and unbuttered and free of any additives... pretty sure Newman's Own makes popcorn like that, that's what I give mine from time to time and they're pushing 4 years old! But while gerbs are pretty hardy and can take a jostle or a little fall from time to time, you ought to be a little gentler with them in the future.

@Katokichika88 There is corn in some gerbil meuslea anyway... mealworms, egg, berries etc arn't 'gerbil food' but can be fed as treats as wild gerbils eat them. People seem to think fish can only eat these magical fish flakes, however they're much better off on a diet of flakes, algae wafers and vegetables. Formulated pet foods mean that people tend to be very uneducated when feeding their pet. They don't know what's in the food they're giving to their pet, so don't know what treats to give.
