He's probably a journalist who the fuck says hes a soldier? And to the assholes saying they are randomly shooting at a mountain ,shut your mouths they can probably see muzzle flashes and movement the camera can not pick up. Also, it's not fucking call of duty where the enemy's heads poke up an they take no cover. No. They are fighting for their lives also. I guarantee they know the enemy's position and that is where they are shooting. And the stress would also add up to making accuracy less acc
By the way, this footage was shot in the Pech river valley in afghanistan at FOB Combat Main AKA Able Main. The company that was here was ABLE Co 2/503 INF (ABN). OEF 8
All that Hesco Bastion is useless when the base is surrounded by such high ground !!!!! whoever s responsible for that bases location needs to be shot !!!!!
@MrRipper222 he is more of a man than you will ever be. you can say all the things you want but this man had the balls to walk into a recruiters office and enlist in the United States Army and choose a combat job knowing that there is a war going on while all you have done is type nonsense on your keyboard.
@MrRipper222 i cant believe you would say something like that about someone that is fighting for your freedom to say stupid stuff like what you just said.
@boonatwork. Why the hell would you build a base on a mountain top? Thats 1 leaving it wide open for any sort of artillery fire, and most likely this isnt just 1 base all alone in the middle of no where, they most likely have a number of bases in the area that work as lookout points for other bases in the area, and if you believe in God or not is your choice, im not getting in a religion arguement over that.
@lewisx20x20 I agree bro but honestly its nearly impossible to head up to highgrounds when you have eyes on you 24/7 and guys hitting your op maybe 5-6 times a day
why the fuck are some people in this website pretending to be military strategists? you don't know a fucking thing about whatever the fuck they are doing because you are not there! bloody video game fanboys go play your video games kids.
Thats why I pay my taxes right there. Glad to see you boys are getting use out of it. Supporting the military........one check at a time. Kill everyone of them bastards.
man thats scary i was wondering could you guys even see where they were shooting at you from every time i see one of these it looks like it hard a hell to find a target god bless you guys thanks for being there so old fart like me didnt have to be
@cheezyfun there is no way to hold all the high ground in Afghan...
anybody who has ever been there know that there is just too much of it and if you're up high without controlling other high points around you youre much more exposed than these guys are here. It's just the way it is 90% of the time overthere there is high groung you can control; it's not a movie or a video game.
summergamer dude or chick or whatever....maybe you should stick to playing video games and staying quiet after you watch videos of real men such as these.
@lewisx20x20 to entice the enemy to attack and bring them out in the open. the outposts are fortified and can resist light rpg and machine gun fire. I believe there are bullet detection towers that track where the shot is coming from via it's sound, they take these cordinates at the outpost and call in artillery / CAS. That's my guess at least.
not to start an arguement, because i do agree, but possibly because you can see whats surrounding youi better. say they were at the top of a hill, then you would have to look down it to see the enemy.
@lewisx20x20 because every where around Iraq are mountains just like Mexico it doesn't matter where you are most of the time your surrounded by mountains.
I guess it's easier to bring supplies when you're not on top of a mountain (meaning that you don't need to use helicopters all the time). It's also harder to breathe on higher ground. They put their outposts where they need them to be and the ground needs to be flat when you build an outpost.
@lewisx20x20 you need land large enough and level enough to build a base on, because you need to land choppers. not a lot of places like that up in the mountains.
@lewisx20x20 well if you think about it.The US commanders probaly figure, How can we get the Enemy to come to us?we'll put your outpost where every taliban slodier can see it of course.Afterall how could the Taliban not resist attacking an outpost like that?
@lewisx20x20 YES, because we can't just build a fucking city in the middle of nowhere. They are combat outposts. They are there to stage attacks and deflect attacks directed at the more civilian populated areas.
@lewisx20x20 maybe its probably to block path ways since its surround by hills ppl can't travel by vehicle on hills so they have to travel on the paths which is blocked by the military
@lewisx20x20 must be a landing zone. also, there are outposts on mountain tops all over the country, however typically blood has been shed to take their own vantage points away from them, if you catch my drift. its not like they cant just wander around the mountains and say "hmm, yep, lets camp here tonight"
@lewisx20x20 Their on high ground, mostly. They cannot afford to be situated on shitty mountain dirt and uneven ground. Shit is annoying as hell trust me.
also they DID call in air support btw... several times to sweep the hill side and on their own location... insurgents breached the perimiter and got to within 50 feet of their position... btw... there we over 200 insurgents and only 40 or so soldiers..
I love listening to people talk out their butts... the man videotaping is a reporter attached to the squad... this knowledge comes first hand from the man... my best friend.... on the 50 cal in the hum vee at 43 seconds... way to go phil.... this is billy btw... u gave those rag heads what they deserved if ur reading this... @phone01294 It's the Kunar man. It's nothing BUT Valleys surrounded by ridges. It's nearly impossible to build COP and FOBs ontop those ridges. And when it is possible they do. The Pech/Korengal is a dangerous place. But our tactics are solid. They attack us from the ridges, so we call in CAS on their ass and get some air support.
@23wassup How do you know they are shooting at nothing? The camera quality isn't great enough to actually see where the bullets are hitting - you can see outgoing fire but you can't see the rounds kicking up dirt. Taliban are camoflauged as well, there not going to be wearing white or some other bright color - so don't comment on what you don't know

its all about logistics dude they need access roads and flat sturdy terrain to build upon
u cant just drop it all out the back of a chinook on some rugged mountain in middle of nowhere
your correct it isnt wize to have a loney isolated base the sop is to usually have small foward observation posts providing overwach for the main base
but they are sometimes in huge danger of being compramised and over-run
