  • Sensational and truly EXCELLENT! Thanks for putting this together.

The 13 dislikes are from people who clap on '1' and '3'.

  • I just bought this LP, without a clue about what kind of music it was. Great surprise :D

  • It's probably been 30 years since I've heard this!I just happened to think of the name Meco while sitting here, I swear.

  • This edit is puke.

  • I just realized in 0:56 ....

They skip out of the poppy feild, and there is white powder on the ground...

Don't you use poppy seeds to make cocaine?...

    Weird...

  • @666ouroboro Heroin ... Coca leaves for cocaine ... obviously the wizard of oz was a drug fueled dream.

  • This is so cool! Judy would have Loved Disco!!! It was all about Fun and Energy!!

    Disco Rules....Oz Rocks!

    ^^X^^

  • Judy Garland was so beautiful in this movie! WOW! she looks so pretty with red hair. she was such a great actress and a great person. :)

  • Why disco ever went away, is beyond me, ITS THE BEST DANCE MUSIC EVER! its timeless and it always make you feel happy and want to dance! and this was very cute, I LOVE IT!

  • I sing about The Wizard of Oz in The Celebrity Song.

  • I still have the vinyl record of the disco soundtrack. Haven't listened to the whole thing in many years (no way for me to currently do so).

  • *sigh* I really wish there was a full version of the film using Meco's music as the replaced sound track. This music is as ridiculously wonderful as the film.

  • I'll get around to it one day. That music is way too moving/inspiring, and it'll be a great project to work on. Unless someone wants to pay me a silly amount of money in the meantime and I'll take a month off work and create a masterpiece! :-D

  • is it me or isnt there any sound

  • WONDERFUL!

You certainly synched the music nicely to the assorted clips...well done!!

  • How is this video not available too the united states no offense where'd you make this?

  • that's weird i am wacting it now in the usa

  • I will dedicate this disco-Oz song to my good friend and d.j. Glen Kephart....

Meco did a pretty good job with this one.

  • LOL! Optimistic Voices (the vocal part that goes 'you're out of the woods, you're out of the dark' etc) to disco. Corny. But Meco Monardo was quite creative with his musical interpretations.

  • wow and i thought i was the only 1 who had this album as a kid lol used to love it

  • dang, if this isn't the queasiest ;( I loved Meco's Star Wars and (especially) The Empire Strikes Back Disco...but this? well, at least I understand why I never heard it till now.... lol

  • does anyone remember the movie where a lady had all types of different heads and she needed a key or something.the metal dude was chubby and he spined his arms around to fight dudes with wheels on their hands?

  • of course! U really didn't know the answer? 1985's "Return to Oz" w/ Fairuza Balk.

  • i really didn't. =/

  • haha well, now you do! and though it really couldn't compare to the magic of the original, it is kind of a fun movie.

  • i like this video it is so nice

  • I can do the moonwalk to this beat.

  • Eons ago, I was given this at a Christmas party gag-gift exchange. I do believe I still have it. Several years ago, a local (st louis) radio morning show asked listeners to call in the most embarrasing item in their LP collection. I called. I was confronted at work later that morning by a co-worker..."Disco Wizard of OZ.....REALLY!?"

  • Meco Monardo, Tony Bongiovi.

In the drums Alan Schwartzberg (too inspired in Earl Young-Philly Records- drummer).

  • When I was 7 in the 80's my dance studio did the the whole Meco Wizard of Oz as a jazz and ballet combo. This song was my class as the sonw flakes that wake them up from the poppies. We were lead by Glenda the good wirch.

  • FABULOUS !!!!!

    Very well, thought !!!!

    Thanks to Dan, for sharing!

Just gives me want to dance!

    Josee xxx

  • Sorry, ''makes'' me wanna dance !!!!

  • What is this album called?

  • Hi there, this is "The Wizard of Oz" album by the wonderfully tallented "Meco Monardo"

  • Good footage an audio combo! I been wondering if anyone would post Meco's disco Oz soundtrack. Why not post the whole soundtrack w/ Oz footage?

    Peace

  • What ever happened to Meco??

  • Sounds more like " Starsky & Hutch "

Where is John Travolta ... " disco dancer " ?

    LMAO @ this one !

  • I picked up the LP for two bucks at a thrift store :)

  • OOw the voices kind of sounds like trance even though its disco

  • What's the wizard of oz song? i love it!

  • Hi, this is an excerpt from the wizard of oz album by meco (only available on vinyl). This track is based on the scene where the characters in the story reach the emerald city.

  • hmm. where can i buy this music. seems like amazon only says it's only available on RECORDS, and they don't have any copies.

  • Hi there, unfortunately the whole album is yet to be released on CD. The music you hear in this video is from vinyl source.

  • Genial!Emocionante!

  • That was really well done! You should do a Star Wars (Meco) too...

  • orchestral, production, and melodic masterpiece representing the intellectual and cultural apex of this civilization: the 1970s; note the grand New York Philharmonic Orchestra, with Irving Spice, concertmaster, conducted by the incomparable Harold Wheeler and Meco Monardo

  • This Is Cool Can You Put The Whole Film On Youtube And Comment Back What You Named It Thanx !

  • Nice job i enjoyed watchin this :D! can sumone please upload the whole movie please!

  • Me and my friends are doing a play at school 4 the wizard of oz and we have a great teacher !! But this wasn't so goood !!

  • ya it wasnt good

  • Thank you, thank you, Jamie, for putting this together! I love the Meco record and used to listen to it all of the time. Does anyone know if it was ever released on CD? I know that Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg, the original composers of the Oz music, were not credited anywhere on Meco's album so there were some hard feelings. But it's great music! Just try to resist it! Meco really got the music so right and so fun.

  • oops I meant to say poppies...

  • Poopies will put them to sleep, sleep....

  • Poopies??!! ;) Love this!!!

  • do u have the full movie?

  • I love this, how brilliant - Your out of the woods, step in to the sun, step into the lights, hold on to your house!! Thanks so much.

  • Thanks for your kind comments :)

  • Bought this disco version of the Wizard of Oz by Meco on CD, probably an illegal bootleg import, but it's just not available in the US on CD so I had no choice. Entire soundtrack, little bits of everything in the movie, done to a disco beat and at a breakneck pace totalling approx 15 minutes. They apparently had great music and fun back in the 1970s. Thanks for putting the disco music to the original movie, it's great.

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. Meco have not yet released the full Wizard Of Oz album on CD but hopefully they will in the near future.

  • What are they waiting for?

When I was a child my dad had all the Meco Albums. This was the third. I remember the one called "Close Encounters of Every Kind" that came before this one. I'd pay blood to have them both again. If there is a pettiton line to sign just show me the way.

Thanks for the videos and for the memories it triggered. I Loveyou for that pal!

  • You gotta tell me where to buy that. I miss that record! It was part of my childhood an I cant find it on CD!

  • Hey mate

Glad to see another Meco fan! This is such a wicked album, still can't understand why they re-released Star Wars on CD but not this!

I got myself a mint copy of the LP and ripped it to near CD quality and designed covers and created myself a top notch CD copy of Meco's Wizard Of Oz...the entire album. This is the only way for now!

Can't tell you how often it gets played!!!!

    Gav

  • I had no clue that Meco, which did the Disco version of the Star Wars theme also did a disco version of one of the songs from The Wizard of Oz.

  • He did the whole movie

  • Mustard we should get Meco back made some top draw stuff got this album plus others from him. nice to see more of this thank you for doing it and keep up the good work.

  • Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it :)

  • my father has this lp I used to love it when I was a kid, but my favourite one is meco from star treck.
