Why disco ever went away, is beyond me, ITS THE BEST DANCE MUSIC EVER! its timeless and it always make you feel happy and want to dance! and this was very cute, I LOVE IT!
*sigh* I really wish there was a full version of the film using Meco's music as the replaced sound track. This music is as ridiculously wonderful as the film.
I'll get around to it one day. That music is way too moving/inspiring, and it'll be a great project to work on. Unless someone wants to pay me a silly amount of money in the meantime and I'll take a month off work and create a masterpiece! :-D
still dancin "im outa the brown, im offa the dark, im offa the smack step in2 the sun step in2 the liiiiight!" boogie oogie disco boogie "opeeeeen! OPEEEEEN!!!!" omg i aint bin able 2 feel music for over a decade!!
LOL! Optimistic Voices (the vocal part that goes 'you're out of the woods, you're out of the dark' etc) to disco. Corny. But Meco Monardo was quite creative with his musical interpretations.
dang, if this isn't the queasiest ;( I loved Meco's Star Wars and (especially) The Empire Strikes Back Disco...but this? well, at least I understand why I never heard it till now.... lol
does anyone remember the movie where a lady had all types of different heads and she needed a key or something.the metal dude was chubby and he spined his arms around to fight dudes with wheels on their hands?
Eons ago, I was given this at a Christmas party gag-gift exchange. I do believe I still have it. Several years ago, a local (st louis) radio morning show asked listeners to call in the most embarrasing item in their LP collection. I called. I was confronted at work later that morning by a co-worker..."Disco Wizard of OZ.....REALLY!?"
When I was 7 in the 80's my dance studio did the the whole Meco Wizard of Oz as a jazz and ballet combo. This song was my class as the sonw flakes that wake them up from the poppies. We were lead by Glenda the good wirch.
My father used to have this vynil, I grew up with this, ha. What it was funny was the funky meco vynil covers. One of my favourites was the star trek theme by meco, Can anybody tell me where I can find it?
Hi, this is an excerpt from the wizard of oz album by meco (only available on vinyl). This track is based on the scene where the characters in the story reach the emerald city.
orchestral, production, and melodic masterpiece representing the intellectual and cultural apex of this civilization: the 1970s; note the grand New York Philharmonic Orchestra, with Irving Spice, concertmaster, conducted by the incomparable Harold Wheeler and Meco Monardo
Thank you, thank you, Jamie, for putting this together! I love the Meco record and used to listen to it all of the time. Does anyone know if it was ever released on CD? I know that Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg, the original composers of the Oz music, were not credited anywhere on Meco's album so there were some hard feelings. But it's great music! Just try to resist it! Meco really got the music so right and so fun.
Bought this disco version of the Wizard of Oz by Meco on CD, probably an illegal bootleg import, but it's just not available in the US on CD so I had no choice. Entire soundtrack, little bits of everything in the movie, done to a disco beat and at a breakneck pace totalling approx 15 minutes. They apparently had great music and fun back in the 1970s. Thanks for putting the disco music to the original movie, it's great.
When I was a child my dad had all the Meco Albums. This was the third. I remember the one called "Close Encounters of Every Kind" that came before this one. I'd pay blood to have them both again. If there is a pettiton line to sign just show me the way.
Thanks for the videos and for the memories it triggered. I Loveyou for that pal!
Glad to see another Meco fan! This is such a wicked album, still can't understand why they re-released Star Wars on CD but not this!
I got myself a mint copy of the LP and ripped it to near CD quality and designed covers and created myself a top notch CD copy of Meco's Wizard Of Oz...the entire album. This is the only way for now!
Mustard we should get Meco back made some top draw stuff got this album plus others from him. nice to see more of this thank you for doing it and keep up the good work.
Thank you for uploading this. I nearly choked to death laughing. All hail the inimitable Meco

Meco Monardo, Tony Bongiovi.
In the drums Alan Schwartzberg (too inspired in Earl Young-Philly Records- drummer).
