  • excellent work bro. do u happen 2 know what this foam is called over here in england and do u have any tips for coating this stuff ready for an aquarium

  • @sea78x It's called FOAMULAR® 250 rigid foam insulation and it's manufactured by Owens Corning. you'll need to hunt around for it over there. In the states it's available at most home improvement stores.

  • you used Maple Honey paint but from where or what brand? I like the color

  • beautiful man! I was always wondering how all model type trees and sceneries are being produced

  • i live in england (FTW) and what would the pink foam be called

  • Owens Corning FOAMULAR® 250 Rigid foam Insulation

  • thanks greatly appriciated

  • how long did it take to make theses mountains? i dont think im gonna make mountains anymore, maybe a small town or farm

  • I think the work was spread out over three months.

  • What color of paint do you use, it looks very earthy and perfect for this job...

  • It was maple honey

  • Yes can you tell me where I can purchase the foam board? I have looked everywhere for it and seem to have no luck

  • If you live in the south it will probably be harder to find. Other than that most home improvement stores should carry it (Home Depot, Lowes, Menards etc).

  • @dubbie9717 HOME DEPOT YOU AAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Hmmm...I really don't know. I'm not sure if that kind of foam would be available down under.

  • The unpainted foam looks like glaciers! I wish the 2 inch thick foam board was available where I live at. All they have is 3/4 inch, so it takes more to build it up.

  • Did you skip anything between videos 7 & 8? In looking at the mountain in video 8 the color looks a lot different than it did in video 7. Did you enhance the color at all or is that just the way it looked when it dried?

  • The base coating gets darker when it dries.

  • how cool to have this guy for a naighbor,,he's great and friendly too, i hope he makes tons of vids

  • Nice layout You should follow the trains with the Camara.I'd love to see the finished Layout.

  • Thanks for posting this. I used to add Plaster of Paris, but Drywall Mud works really well and you can work at your own pace because it does not harden quickly like Plaster of Paris. The splacking compound you are using works well also.

  • Ok. I'm not sure what's going on here folks but for some reason this video won't play. I never got any notification that some Term of Use has been violated(I can't Imagine what...). I'll give it a couple of more days before re-uploading it. Sorry about the inconvience!

  • That would be awesome...This part is the missing link

  • you should make a tutorial on how to lay the cork roadbed on a turn, i dont understand how to do it

  • for laying cork on turns, You split the cork in the middle (there should be a pre-made slit in the middle of the roadbed) and lay 1 strip at a time down the middle.

  • hi. i am having problems getting cork around corners too, please let me know what you learn tyvm

  • Wow, you should make DVD's and Sell them on E-Bay. But I am so thankful you didn't. You saved me allot of $. I am an Artist and have a wood shop and I realy appriciate the video. Thanks Respectfully Kat

  • Do you glue or nail your track donw? Do you ever lay it directly on the foam board? What should I use to elivate my road bed? I'm working off a plywood table and planning on using extruded foam for terain. I have cork raod bed. What do you reccomend?

  • I use a thin layer of Elmer's Squeeze n caulk secure the track to the roadbed. You could use the cookie cutter method of elevating your track .

  • Would you reccomend putting the cork directly on top of the foam? I can tell how you layered the foam, but I can't see the sub structure where the road bed is. I'm ready to start laying track and terain, but I'm not sure in what order. I can contour my foam for the train bed, but I'm not sure if that will work to support the cork bed.

    Thanks for the help.

  • good work!!!

  • is this to model a dessert or somthing. where did you get the foam how did you do it

  • Hmmm...Not really. If anything it's close to the type of scenery you'd find in the four corners area in US (Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado). I got the foam at Menards here in Lincoln NE. It's Owens Coring Rigid foam insulation.

  • what color brown is that? i made a mistake and got apple sauce cake brown and it looks like dog!#@$#@

  • what scale is this,HO,or something bigger

  • This is N scale

  • I must say, these are some nice videos. And while I don't plan on using much (if any) extruded foam on my layout, you've helped me get over some of my inabilities with scenery. As far as not knowing where i want this this & this. And one thing, about the lightweight spackeling, you could also use woodland scenics foam putty. It goes on much like Spackeling & dries like foam. And if you add too much it can be grinded & sanded or whatever like foam.

  • lol nice way to put on paint JABB it but thx for ur vids and i really will have to make my mountians :)

  • Could I use joint compound (such as is used for drywall taping and screw holes) instead of the lightweight spackling compound?

  • Yeah you could.

  • Great! Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.

  • Thanx for all the tips. I've already started my newest project based on a number of your ideas.
