I'm not sure if anybody else has mentioned this, but you can make the gold bars into gold rings to minimize costs by a little bit (20-50 gp I think.) Also, you can smelt mithril knives with sacred clay hammers for 100 xp and only a loss of about... 100-200 gp or something.

did you know that you can superheat your gold ores at the same time that you smelt them in a furnace? as long as you dont try to superheat them too fast, as then you will stop smelting them in the furnace. :)

Your videos were great two-three years ago. When guides were rare. I followed your farming guide almost perfectly, making some changes to reduce the time etc. I achieved 99 farming in October 2008, after maybe 6 months of daily farming.

Guides today are a pointless exercise. But, I commend you for making them.

In your old guide you mentioned that gold smithing at phasmatys was 40-45k xp/hr; does the slightly closer bank and varrock armour really nearly double xp rates? And also would using say a pack yack or war tortoise whilst smithing/smelting increase xp rates any considerable amount?

@gonecammin Reducing transit time between furnace and bank as well as increasing rate at which ores are smelt would both increase xp/hr so the closer bank and varrock armour definitely increase xp rate. Also since then (when my last smithing guide was made), jagex may have sped up the rate of smelting which is also perhaps why smelting is faster xp now.

@Dmck2b I didn't mention blast furnace because I have never done it and would not have gotten a feel for it after a day, so it would not be safe for me to recommend it without me fully experiencing it. From what I've read around and heard, it is definitely slower xp 40-60k? i think, not sure. It's aimed towards more profit/less cost due to half the coal, but if you can afford theres no reason to do this really, especially with the gold method as the gold is very is to get (see my mining vid).
