  • Damn, don't mess with the Australians.

  • your right, no BFA's my mistake, I thought I had noticed some in the earlier part of the vid but it wasn't.

Still a bunch of tools pissing about and not an actual drill

  • sas wannabes

  • @ebbett21 4 steps down from sas ;)

  • can you upload again with some music?

  • looks like un peacekeepers

  • pretty cool vid.what was the song in it that was removed?

  • @christurkthebrave if you go to grouchymedia's website, you can view the original, faint, by linkin park

  • Compare the second sequence to the first see how much further away the camera is from the firers and in that instance there is no doubt they are live firing. still a crap drill though as everyone is standing and dashing about like chooks.

  • Break contact like these blokes and you'll all be dead in seconds.Hard to tell but it looks like the rifles have BFAs on them. Add to that the pictures shot from in front of the firer, never going to happen on a live fire range. no hearing protection either another no no.,At one point all 4 are standing and moving again totally wrong.Like I said nice pics but not a drill just a bit of a display.

  • BFAs, mate even this civi can see there are no BFAs attached, being bright red and standing out like a sore thumb as they do. And the guys would be wearing ear protection regardless, BFA or not, incidentally several of them are wearing ear protection, those small foamy inserts that just fit inside the ear and then expand to fill the ear canal, you know the sort. It's enough to take the sting out of the cracking sound. A few blokes here have them if you look carefully.

    Cheers.

  • @Magpie4000 If they had BFAs, then they wouldn't be kicking up the dirt when firing into the hill side like in 1:51.

  • @Magpie4000 you have absolutely no idea what your talking about. Recon allways stand when they fire as you cant get up off your guts quick enough with a pack on. This is live fire, you can see the safety supe. There drills were very good. They were conducting tunnel and baseline break contacts into a peel. They wernt pissing around

  • @KelmyDread Well of course you are right, far better to stand up so the enemy get a clear shot at you rather than risk getting all puffed out by having to stand up with your pack on.

  • @Magpie4000 in a section attack yes but not with recon. In an assault we stay low but recon only breaks contact in the result of compromise and the goal is to just lose the enemy.

  • @KelmyDread So glad to hear that, all that time I wasted, backs I twisted and knees I buggered throwing myself on the ground over the course of 12 years service in a Recce unit.

  • @Magpie4000 what unit??

  • @KelmyDread 51 FNQR

  • @Magpie4000 if you had any idea of the tactics used for the type of withdrawl that recon uses you would know why they dont lay down. the idea is to get out as fast as possible with covering fire. besides i would like to see you do that on your guts ;)

  • Surely this could not have been 1 or 2 RAR recon platoons doing these shithouse drills. Your cam is gay, your wearing crap webbing and hats backwards. Stinks of Para or 6 RAR. And to Magpie4000....the rifles are pointed up only on livefire ranges. Its standing orders for con on ranges. Out.

  • Its a break contact drill Magpie u dill on a range in ET

  • No I think it is a few tools hamming it up for the camera. You don't stand up and fire at random in a break contact or point your rifle in the air. Good photos though.

  • nice vid!

    shame about the copyright bullshit

  • now there is a bunch of lads you would go on patrol with.

    awesome drills....

  • Go the Aussies. You're doing us proud boys.

  • Probably stating the obvious, but: it looks like a break contact drill to me.

  • Stupid freakin copyright laws!

This video was awesome as hell too!

  • the legionaries do the same sort of trainning with the firing and the smoke to cover the retreat. probly standard procedure. Yea Go the Aussie

  • wow! they call it "the Australian peel" for a reason!

  • only two groups do that any good, Navy SEALs and the Aussies.

    Respect from America.

  • What about United States Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance?

    Bad ass mother fuckers

  • @GordonALWAYS Love the comment mate, I'm an Aussie who's got a funky non homo man crush on your Navy SEALs. So Kudos to that comment brother! Your SEALs are the shizznit!

  • @GordonALWAYS no offence but seals havnt got anything on these guys ;) these are just our scouts :P

  • aug best gun in da world

  • I wouldn't say it's the best. But it is pretty kick-ass!

  • its 1rar lol mybad i didnt see the last bit in the end

  • hectic vid

  • theses guys are aussie right? if they are , are they the nothern terroitory guys?

  • Comment removed

  • They call it the australian peel for a reason. Nice and agressive

  • how can i put this on my bebo page

  • I was watching an ABC (Australian not American) program and they interviewed a man from this unit. They were apparantly used as a rapid reaction force as they were easily deployed, being recon, and he saw some pretty horrible things happen. One of which was gangrape by UN peacekeepers. I'm not saying down with the UN or anything, as many armies have commited crimes like that throughout the ages. Just saying that he saw that.

  • It is

  • Nice vid. Loved it the first time I saw it, and I still love it now.

Hopefully joining next year, can't wait.

    Cheers.

  • Nice vid, good music, thats the way sell ya self...what about the 72 hour OP's or the fact that your info is disregarded by higher. Show and tell 'em whats its really like...

  • They don't call it an Australian peel for nothing, huh? I'd make fun, but I realize how important breaking contact is for recon units.

  • Great Vid

  • Great vid, bought back a lot of memories. Knew a lot of good blokes in 1 RAR, did two tours with 2 RAR in '99 and '01

  • 2 RAR? you mean 2nd to 1 dont you?

Nah just kidding mate, have a good one

  • good vid

  • I am (irish ties) and im in that vid 19 times

  • kwl. which one are u then

  • Im the one in Cams, ha ha

  • ha ha ha, good one

  • you still in bro?

  • in what, the amry? No, I just use this unsername because it sounded cool at the time. Anyway, I'm to young to join. Though I want to be an officer at some point, even if it's just in the reservs.

  • where you at?

  • in that video, mostly Timor

  • I mean what frame are you in Min and sec ?

  • yeah sorry mate, not saying, just hope u like the vid

  • what is this like the US Army Rangers or Infantry?

  • good drilla 1rar recce platoon....

  • Hmm, they're carrying Styers, which we use in the Irish army. But the rank markings aren't Irish, nor are the uniforms. Plus do any of them actually look Irish..?? Plus the title at the End 1RAR, doesn't ring a bell. Maybe they're Austrian or Australian..??

  • Yep, that would be the Aussies, RAR stands for Royal Australian Regiment. Good compilation btw.

  • what do you mean "look Irish" 85% of Australians are Anglo Celt ie. Are of Irish, Scottish or Welsh backgrounds. I'd say at least one third of those guys might have had Irish heritage.

  • Problems with bounding with a weapon high with your back to the enemy... many. 1. your head is high, and might get shot off. 2. when your head is high, you're not looking at the ground, and will probably fall. 3. your center of balance is needlessly thrown off. 4. it's more tiring to do lift your weapon up high, numerous times, depleting accuracy. 5. it's much easier to gauge the bounding of the man left and right if you're looking down as opposed to up.

  • Go beat them then.

  • Who the fuck are you exactly to be giving out pointers ?

  • Good stuff. You sound like you've read a few soldier of fortune mags. Maybe also read a few websites. Read a few more and you might figure out what drill they're working on. Then look at the title and you might figure out why that drill's part of their training. dickhead.

  • awesome video. good drills, good fire effect and momentum through out the contact drills. raymlist you nob head, those drils have been proven on ops (including myself - in Iraq and afghan) These guys were trainin for ops in East timor. Which is a jungle enviroment, so you will struggle to see the man next to you, so staying low will make it impossible

  • ok, so cool video, good pictures. everyone looks tough.

I'm not concerned about questionable speed mag changes or a hot barrel, I'm wondering why these guys are standing when they don't need to be, firing indiscriminately when they have no ammo to spare (at that rate, those chest rigs will be depleted in a second), and, most questionably, why they have no gear, no water, and they seem like they're not tired or sweaty at all. Call me a retard, but this seems like retarded training.

  • cause they are obviously just firing as part of an exercise not on the ground so to speak,Id say

  • which would make it a worthless exercise, jackass.

  • When you keep low in the jungle you cant see your cover man. A massive rate of fire stops the enemy from pursuing you. Recce (recon) patrols are small groups so you have to punch above your weight to give the enemy the impression you mean business and he has chosen the wrong guys to take on

  • thats true they have to break contact if possible

  • which country are this soldiers from?

  • They are Aussies in East Timor. that training is a tactical retreat training I believe.

  • were the irish special forces guys out there as well ???

  • Yep they were, I was on the first trip of regular Infantry to releive them. Were you there yourself? Place was a dump. Even the snakes were looking for asylum in other countries.

  • typcal SEALs tatics. Are they the same?

  • Force Recon and SEAL tactics are very much the same. They are trained and specialized in many of the same ways and that is why there is a friendly rivalry between them.

  • Oh, are you 'in the know'? take your POG nothingness elsewhere, faggot.

  • Right, like you are. take your POG nothingness elsewhere, faggot.

  • Yes I would be "in the know" as a matter of fact. And as far as I can tell, youve done nothing to prove me wrong.

  • This Recon Unit is of the 1st Battalion Royal Australian Regiment, And they live up to that name, as Psycop says they are doing a Breaking Contact Drill Exercise working in Pairs covering each other, Some of the Best Soldiers they are the Australians.

  • The rifle being used is a steyr f88 assualt rifle it is the standard assault rifle for the AUS Army along with the f89 minimi both use 5.56 nato rounds. The steyr has full auto capabilities but it is not designed primarily for full auto as the weapon is very unstable and innacurate of full auto. The movement they were doing in the video is known as fire and movement and is basically covering each other while one moves and the other fires.

  • This is a prove that....Aussies wanna dominate East Timor...and turn the little pity country into training field..

  • your kidding right...... you seriously have no clue

  • i'm not kidding mate

  • Um are you stupid or what? do you wanna let Indonesians to start killing ET civilians all over again?

  • Very professional, and does you all proud! If you want to check of something from Canada you can try 'fighting soldiers of Canada.' All the best, ladies and gentlemen.

  • Pretty AUG...

  • Although ur out of the shit now - this vid is the best east timor one of all BARTS

  • Awsome!

  • Are those paint ball guns?

  • No, those are Steyrs, bullpup assault rifles. Real guns designed to kill people. Preferably ragheads, but Asian fascists/Jihadis are just fine too.

  • Best response EVER!

  • ALWAYS LOVE WATCHIN UR SHOW BARTS

  • Nice video.

I'm puzzled at how easily that guy extracts the barrel of his rifle towards the end of the video.

  • the Steyr AUG A1 (Military Version) is supposed to be like that. It sits in firmly but when you hit a button below the tactical foregrip you can twist it and then the barrel comes out with extreme ease. You would be suprised how sturdy the gun is, even though the barrel comes out that fast. Civilian AUG's are the same way. A lot of other guns have easy barrel removal, like the M60, MG42, MG34, M249, and many other guns.

  • The MG42 is easy but not that easy, can't say about the others. Thanks about the detail that it has a button, I was beginning to think that the guy was really good at taking out bolts (I mean the push really hard to take out kind of bolts ... in spanish we call them "pasadores" and there'sno way of taking them out that easily)

The G-36 has no such thing as removable canon ... not a big problem unless you intend to use it as a light MG.

  • The Steyr 77 is bull-pup rifle which makes the barrel very light weight in the front, causing the rear of the rifle to be heavier. The downside the bull-pup configuration is a higher barrel climb in full-auto (in some cases it could also mean a slightly slower rate of fire since the bolt has to travel farther than a conventional layout rifle such as an American M4A1 for example).

  • Quick change barrel maybe? He could be supplied with it just because these guys love to shoot all their ammo in seconds. Just think what you would do if a weapons instructor gave you an automatic with tons of ammo and told you to have fun.

  • I'm pretty sure he's just making his weapon safe, with the F88 Austeyr you have to also remove the barrel and look to see if there is a round still in there as well as check if there is one inside the chamber.

Just watch his movements after he removed the barrel.

  • wooooooooooooooooo thats wat ill be doing in a few years time !!! SHOOT A Styer at nouthing :|

  • What a stupid comment to make, I would think you would want to know how to reposition your team using suppression fire. I wouldn't comment on how they go about training until after I was in the army, if infact that is what you will end up doing with your life.

  • go AUSIES AND USA!!

  • bloody awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!well done boyzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Good to see the boys from 63 "Living the dream"

  • Awsome work, but shouldn't the description be " Recon units IN East Temor."? These are Australian recon units from 2003, when Australia went to the aid of East Temor as Indonesia didn't share their dreams of independence.

  • cool vid . But dont they teach Camo AND Conceilment anymore..

  • of course they do piss ant if u have a look they are looking down towards the river which in Timor was a crossing junction on the borders the borders ran up alot of the main rivers that crossed the entire country from north 2 south I know i sat in an op for 2 weeks looking a bloody monkeys drinking out of the river yay fun not
