  • Damn!!! Now that's soul!!!

  • i love this song!!!

  • I loved this movie and this song

  • Yes it does I loved the movie and the soundtrack like you said 40 years later

  • This song just brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it!! It may just be my fav Gladys Knight and the Pips song............ You can't fake singing a song like this---she lives it!

  • She has a wonderful voice

  • Anything Gladys Knight does is pure Brillance in my ears !

  • This song brings back memories of my childhood! It was some of the best times~

  • Love this song

  • i was 10 went this songz came out and the movie.and it is sad that people who listen to hip hop or rap know nothing about these back in the day songz and it a really great song and really enjoy it and the movie of course!

  • @ourgirlprofile202 there are SOME hip hop producers that truly LOVE this type of music, and use samples of artists like Gladys Knight (the Claudine Soundtrack has been sampled before)...the problem is that NOW in 2011 producers and artists who do respect the old school and try to incorporate it are getting kicked to the curb by the record labels...labels just sign/promote this half rap/half techno garbage that has no soul- we need music like Gladys's to stay around

  • @ourgirlprofile202 u might have the generation gap a little messed up because i know alot about this right here not everyone who listens to to rap is a baby "76"

  • YES

  • Makes me want to travel back to 70s even though I'm a 90s kid

  • Many parts of this film was done on Edgecome Avenue just off of 140th Street, Harlm, NYC. Reminds me of when we were ALL together. Black people standing together through the stuggles, enjoying the small victories as they came. Thinking seriously of going back to Harlem, as I miss it so so very much. Listening to this song makes me want to go back even more. Remembering those innocent times of 36 or so years ago. Wow! Songs like this are not made today. Its a shame.

  • does anybody know where i can find the movie?

  • @scmmacon2009 you can buy it on amazon for like ten dollars.. i did last year

  • I was 12 years old when this came out.....running up and down South Orange Ave,Newark,NJ just happy and totally carefree. I thank my parents so much for allowing me and my siblings to be kids when we were and not putting adult issues and weights on our shoulders. I surely got some happy memories to look back on.

  • 3 People don't have happy homes

  • Real Music.

  • CURTIS & GLADYS IS LIKE FISH & GRITS

  • God bless Curtis Mayfield., a true unsung genius gone too soon

  • This will be great music forever. Almost 40 years later and it can still stir emotions in you and excite the spirit.

  • @FromUR2UB

    Right On! :)

  • The movie soundtrack of all time. rcnotpesi and the movie was great!

  • The movie soundtrack of all time.

  • I didn't know Curtis Mayfield wrote the songs for this sound track. That just shows how large his contribution was for the uplifting of his people. As a black woman I felt so empowered and inspired by the music.

  • I saw Claudine on cable this past christmas week, had to look this song up, been playing it every since!

  • Everytime I hear this song it brings me back to my childhood when all I had to do was go to school and chores on saturday morning.

  • I'm just glad i lived during this time when music was music! Singers, musicians doing their thing! This music make my soul HAPPY! The texture of Gladys voice with her signature "Ay - Ay - ay, Ay ay ay yeah" . . ..... and the harmony of the PIPS. I feel SO sorry for these kids today who are hung on on CRAP, sorry, I mean RAP! So sad THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT WE FEEL WHEN WE HEAR THESE SONGS! I always TELL MY 2 KIDS that their generation MISSED real music!

  • The "Claudine" soundtrack was written and produced by the late Curtis Mayfield. He also was responsible for the soundtracks of "Superfly" and "Sparkle" which included the hit "Giving Him Something He Can Feel".

  • My resolution for the new year.

  • Such a great movie and a beautiful soundtrack by Gladys Knight & The Pips

  • Great classic here, luv this album and the movie

  • Beautiful sound track and a beautiful movie...

  • @Sharone326 did u see the movie awsome, reminds me of my 5 siblings we actually lived this, welfare, hiding shit, struggling, and my mom always was playing the 45s from claudine, kinda sad for me when i hear these songs but things are better, just the good old music has left , but thanks to youtube we can still enjoy

  • @gamagan1 Not only saw it-purchased it. I love it-movie and sountrack. Diahann Carroll and James Earl Jones had some of the most real romantic scenes. Touching and beautiful.

  • JUST HEARING THIS MAKES ME SMILE THINKING ABOUT OLD TIMES BACK HOME IN ST.LOUIS PLAYING STREET CORNER GAMES LIKE FREEZE TAG, RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT......AND ALL THE NEIGHBER HOOD KIDS PLAYING IN THE FIRE PLUGS WHY UNCLES , AUNTS AND COUSINS SIT AROUND BBQ AND PLAYING CARDS THOSE WHERE THE BEST DAY'S.

  • @avalonderek we did it in nyc too..............WE ARE AMAZNG PEOPLE. I going to do those things with my kids now............

  • This is real soul music. I remember being a kid in West Dallas, Texas and my uncle blarring this stuff from his Monte Carlo.

  • So long is there is peace with you. Go, Curtis, lyrics meant something then. If we got this song, we would have more black on black marriages.

  • when this song was made the musicians really played the instruments, there was no computer's

no drum machines, no auto tune,I don't want to vibe with the world, I want to be Black, this is where I come from, in the barber shop on a Saturday with this stuff blaring from the juke box..

  • @HerbertReid Straight up Bro. This is where I come from as well. Like Gladys says, "I get full of pride, and so sanctified" when I hear music like this. Rock on!

  • @HerbertReid i love what u expressed thats so true, my race is not my problem nor a problem, God intentionally made me this color. and i love our expressions. And plz don't make this a racist statement, its not. If ur mexican be proud, wht be proud what ever race/ethnicity U R feel proud it was created with thought and intention. I love these old black movies of the 1970's and Claudine is one of the best.

  • @brntreat I agree. Just listenin to this brought back the saturdays of the 70's. Some one frying something and cakes could be smelled throughout the neighborhood. Lawns perfect from early morning cuttings, and you know you had to help momma with something before you could go play outside. Barbershops n salons jammin' to the latest on Soul Train as hustlers came in to make a "dollah". Yes I am grateful for those memories.

  • @HerbertReid AMEN BRUTHA HERB!!! SWEET SWET MUSIC!

  • Back in the day, I was 7 to 8 years old, I was with my family and next door neighbors went to see Claudine at the drive-in. When this song came out, it really set out in what I see and feel of what's been going on then as well as today. I miss my family very much. everyone be blessed to who you are and to what you have.

  • We would go every Friday night to the drive in! I am 43 and those were the days! Talk about music, this is it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great movie and soundtrack.....

  • My Dad worked construction, and the male figures back then were just so powerful and proud. I pray everyday teach my 15 yr old son what a real man and family produce the greatest love of all. Miss those times.

  • You are so true...my father worked three jobs to provide for us....I wished I could have a married one like him...I am so disappointed with what I got......I too have a teenager (17) I couldnt be more proud of him...he's off to college this year...I am a praying mother and I know he is going to do great things

  • something is terribly wrong with today's generation now im only 19 so i don't know what went on back in the 70's or the 80's but I can tell you this real music and black culture like this are very hard to find in the 21st century!

  • because black people are to busy trying to please white people.

  • word. not just please them but continuing to emulate the vibe, completely disregarding OUR OWN CULTURAL WORTH. it's cool to dig on other cultures(i.e. music, food, religon, style of dress). that's what makes the world beautiful. what makes it ugly is when cats try to become something they're not. vibe with the world and all its influences. it broadens your scope. but knowing oneself lengthens your stride. that's peace. later.

  • @urbanvibecanada NOT TRUE, WHERE DA FUCK DID U HEAR THAT AT

  • It was powerful thats why they wont play it in prime time.....Hmmm

  • that was such a powerful movie . the music and the ghetto life on welfare. hiding the good stuff when the welfare lady comes. reality for so many of us !

  • its actually reality. its six of us and during that time we were the ages the were and we had to hide shit to when the case worker showed up. i can identify with every part of the movie i think thats what really make it so special for me.

    gamgan1

hope everything gets better really soon

  • sweet jesus i hope you find her and she's ok. my preyer for u and dad.

    gamagan1

  • Wow, did you ever find your daughter?

  • This reminds me so much of family gatherings when the adults would just let an album play and enjoy the whole thing. Simple days for me. It brings back good memories.

  • @kpitt1204/ I agree KPitt; even though I was like 5 at the time, we children would have to go play and run around the yard while the grownups laughed, sipped and reminisced. And one man would always bring around his new hot young girlfriend and all the aunties would roll their eyes at her! but all the men be like "say Eddie, who's that?" lol...

  • This song brings back good memories of being a wild teenager back in the 70's just hangin out with my friends and admiring that fine Lawrence Hilton Jacobs
