We need more men like Jimmy Stewart's character, Jefferson Smith. We need people who will fight for lost causes, and not just just be "yes" people to their party's leadership. We need people who will stand up and fight for what is right.

This movie simply reinforces the common man/woman's belief that politicians GLOBALLY (not just in USA alone) are generally corrupt & certainly not interested for the benefit of the citizens they represent. Its all about power, selfishness, vested interest at the cost of the weaker sections of society.

Politics should not be considered as a luxury to increase personal wealth, rather politics MUST be considered as a RESPONSIBILITY with ACCOUNTABILITY!

To CDawn1964: I understand your cynicism about the honor of most senators. I would like to recommend you look up Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont. There is at least one good person there who has been fighting for the people for years. I agree there are less than we need but maybe more than you think. Keep some hope and support the good ones. Jeff Merkley is also good and so is Al Franken.

Unfortunately Mr. Franken, and Mr. Sanders support, and endorese unconstitutional legislation. You can be a great man of Integrity like Mr. Smith, but if your violating your oath to "defend the constitution of the united states" I don't care how "nice" a guy you are. Unconstitutional is Unconstitutional.

We need more fans of liberty in the house and senate, perfect and best example...Ron Paul. A champion of the Constitution, a legal limited federal government...and INTEGRITY!
