well sorry to say but the game sucks they already showed the new features the game is gonna have crawlers instead of normal units and there's gonna be no base building instead the crawlers are gonna get dropped off by a plane and there's no more resource gathering instead tiberium collecting buildings are gonna do the gathering and there's gonna be a new weird experience system in which your units oh i mean crawlers are gonna get more powerful for each experience

Actually, I read a more in-depth article in a magazine I forgot the name of, and there are plenty of musicican supporters of this type of game as a means of unwinding. The other common statement is "If it gets people interested in music, fine by me."

I also think it's a bit ironic you're showing Beatles Rock Band in the background during that report, the most musical game of its kind (what with the harmonies and what is basically a basic electric drum kit.)

I have been made aware of a TON of great bands/music through videogames (Freezepop is a perfect example)

As for learning an instrument - I think that banging on some RB drums or guitar could only help whet the palette for someone who might be interested in (cont)...

The games are informative, unfortunately they don't permit creativity. look at the old bands that started in their garages. These people weren't trying to play other people's music, they were trying to write their own. I believe that's why the comments were made. The fear being these games will stunt the creative growth of musicians.
