I can't image the regret Sasuke feels. I want to hate Sasuke but I can't for Itachi's sake. Sasuke finally understands but in a sort of jacked up twisted way. Lot's of people hate Sasuke but take this into consideration, he had all his family and friends slaughtered by his older brother, his brother beat him down about a year later; driving Sasuke into revenge, after finally getting his revenge(kllling his brother), finding out it wasnt his brother's fault and that his brother loved him, being used by Tobi, and yet he still has not gone Senile. Any regular person would have killed themselves but Sasuke is still up and kicking :D

Ok, I'm putting my Eng. Lit. skills to practice (warning, might have spoilers)

Sasuke is a roller coaster for my emotions. First I like him because he's hot (love at first sight). Then I hate him for leaving. Then I sympathize because he is working hard to avenge his family. After a while, I dislike him for choosing the epitome of creepiness over the loving and caring Naruto (again), then my heart goes out to him for this heart-wrenching scene.

For these reasons, Sasuke is a roller coaster.
