Wow :-\ It's interesting really; NYU, Columbia, Cooper Union, etc- are very prestigious institutions that many people talk about & support unconditionally, even me. (NYU, next fall.) But it's interesting what side-effects are occuring because of the way politics are being handled there, by other schools, by Bloomberg, etc. Expanding awareness seems to be key right now, so kudos. I've seen most of your videos. Though, hopefully soon, with a new generation, newer politics will come into play.
I find your videos insightful. Of course, the community is changing with more development from NYU, Columbia, etc. Though, playing 'devil's' advocate, if it hadn't been for these prestigious institutions having to keep up with the constant demand for new dorms & facilities to fit the needs of new students, what would become of these institutions? Or more so, what would happen to the Bowery? How different would safety, infrastructure, & artistic culture be different without their interference?
NYU has become an aggressive, greedy, developer. I do not think we should shrug and say 'what can you do'? There are ways to fight these things. Join a community organization, go to rallies, talk to other people, call your representatives, etc.

Yeah the Bowery has changed but what can you do? Eminent domain can be used by NYU to take whatever they want.
