  • Please take this video off. You do not cook ribs in a crock pot. Wow...this is just pure laziness...You did not want to grill....FAIL!!!!!!

  • And of coarse by burners I meant the gas grill.

  • I'll tell you a faster way. Prepare them the way that you did and instead of using the crock pot, wrap them in aluminum foil without rolling them. Next, put them in the oven at 325 degrees for about and hour and a half-two hours. Pull them out, unwrap, let them rest for 10-15 minutes and then throw them on the grill. If you want a good smoke flavor, soak some wood chips and put them in a pack of foil, poke some holes and put them right on the burners. Drop the ribs on the grill and BAM!!!!

  • I loved this video, cant wait to try it. I've never cooked ribs even though I love em and Brother, if they're fallin off the bone, thats when they're best in my opinion, I dont care what anyone else thinks! Thanks for the video, not only informational but a little entertaining as well.

  • Whats up bro Im not a competetive cook or chef .. But I know good eating and cooking .. I will be trying this technique Thursday .. I will be cooking 2 slab rolls .. Cant wait ..

  • ***** Super cool Super job ! *****

  • i luv how people think that just because they put BBQ sauce on rips they think it's BBQ this is not real BBQ its slow cooker ribs with BBQ sauce BBQ is low and slow smoked with woods like mesquite and hickory

  • I tried this recipe for the first time today. It's not real barbecue but oh so good for a lazy day of football and beer. The only thing I did differently was to coat my ribs with French's yellow mustard and then my own rib rub. I used Kraft hickory smoke bbq sauce to finish on the grill. Fall off the bone goodness! Served with cole slaw, ranch style beans, and corn bread. Way to go Green Bay!!

  • CRAP

  • Very nice. I've made back ribs using a honey apricot glaze that came out pretty good. Hope you'll take a look sometime. Thanks for a great video!

  • what the fuck is this?? how could u do this to such nice meat!? u gotta little retard in ya

  • This is THE BEST rib recipe - I will never cook ribs any other way from now on. I am not a big rib fan, but these were so flavorful and tender that I couldn't stop eating them. My husband and son are rib lovers, and they agreed these were better than any restaurant that specializes in ribs. I did use my own sauce recipe, but this process of cooking the ribs made the real difference in tenderness . Thanks so much for sharing this technique!!!

  • I've done the skewer trick. Chopsticks work real well too whe you have to make it work

  • What barbecue sauce u use?

  • You may as well have boiled those ribs. A wonderful cut of meat destroyed. If you boil or steam your "barbecue" ribs, the terrorists win!

  • haha right on dude. following process to a T, hopefully it turns out. Either way , good on ya bud. Take er sleazy.

  • on 5:27 did u said 30 hours?

  • Great idea. I tried this method with a home made rub and used BEER instead of water. Cook time about 3 ours on low/med in crock pot. Deeeeelish.

  • this looks awesome. i can't wait to try it.

  • LOL The ending XD

    "THERE OFF THE HOOK" haha

  • Poor Family is starving, it's like 10 O'clock at night. I've done this method of cooking ribs before and it works great with beef ribs (220* Oven- 6-8 hours).

  • @tagger956 And they are probably not as good ;)

  • interesting method, I've always seen people use BBQ rub and cook em in the oven, grill, smoke or bake em but I like this new method as an alternate option.

  • Thanks! I'm trying this right now!

  • i just did this recipe last night without the plate or skewers and it turned out amazing! and the sugar is probably unnecessary - i let it go on low for about 6 hours- i was so tender i could hardly throw them on the bbq

  • Whats the point of the wooden skewers? are they absolutely necessary?

  • @GDPDearborn i just did this recipe last night without the plate or skewers and it turned out amazing! and the sugar is probably unnecessary

  • Personally you basterdized the ribs. I don't quite get the point of rubbing it in sugar.

If you are cooking ribs they need to be low and slow. Between 200-250, and I like to cook them about 5 hours. they will have an internal temp of about 200 but they will be tender. They will not be fall of the bone like a boiled rib, they will have texture, but still tender. The fat in the ribs keep it moist

A simple rub is best, or just salt and pepper and finish with bbq sauce in the last 1/2 hour.

  • lmao. "if you're lucky you'll get this thing all in one, in one.... thing" I'm going to try this out!

  • where can i find my local "grosher"?

    el o el

  • Steve Raichlin is a know-it-all clown who doesn't know the definition of fallacy; A fallacy is usually incorrect reasoning in argumentation resulting in a misconception.

You can have fall-off-the-bone-ribs depending on the technique used to cook them.

Use the method you enjoy and don't listen to those self anointed cooking gurus.

I like fall off the bone ribs. If you prefer chewing on the bones like a Pit-bull on a junkyard tire thats on you.

  • I just watched some clown on TV from BBQ university say that "fall-off-the-bone-ribs" is a fallacy.

  • Trying this later today on my baby back ribs I bought from Sam's Club. Was hoping to find cheaper methods of getting the meat tender so they fall off the bone.

  • very simple and I can't wait to try these!!!! Thank You

  • well... it looks like its good... i have a business i won and i bbq ive been trying to find new methods on fall off the bone ribs its sounds good, but to time consuming for me and my customers or else ill use it... do u have faster methods?

  • Awesome, Thanks for Posting. btw .. cute kid

  • Tried it and loved it. I neverbthought I could ame ribs that good and all it was a new cooking process

  • @jumpwedge well the actual dog itself....like right here in asia we get the dog and eat it its really good but i wanna try something different since we just put the dog in fire

  • @madthrasher86 Someone remind me to never eat hotdogs in Asia.

  • can you use this method to cook dog meat too?

  • @madthrasher86

I imagine you can. I've gotta be honest I have never tried it but if it will work on one of America's dirtiest animals, the pig, I would guess it would work on a dog. Do you eat a lot of dog meat or are you talking about regular meat that you feed your dog?

  • @jumpwedge actually pigs are one of the cleanest animals...but you wouldnt know that, would you?

  • I don't give a damn how you make 'em...smoke 'em, bake 'em, grill 'em, shit put 'em on a hot rock in the middle of the sahara desert...as long as they taste good, I don't care...good job man, I'll be trying these out tomorrow!!

  • I used this method for beef ribs and they fell off the bone for me.. thanks a MILLION.. i have cooked ribs a lot of different ways and was a little unsure about this method. This wasnt my all-time favorite but this was the easiest/sure way to get some very tender meat. Plus, a lot of the fat dripped into the water through the holes, making it less fattening overall.. I give it an A- thanks!!

  • lol....set it and forget it ...classic!

  • I've used this recipe three times now. Does it make a great rack of ribs? Hell yes! Are they "Fall off the bone" ribs? No chance.

  • when it started off in high speed it tripped me out for sure hahaha

  • sponsored by coca cola

  • Thanks man! Great video

  • Does this recipe work for baby back BEEF ribs too? Curious.....

  • a bottle of "liquid smoke"!!!! holy cow! did you drink "solid beer" while you were waiting for these boiled goods to cook? please do your awesome fam a favor and invest in a smoker or a grill!!! they will thank you later!

  • i tried your slow cooker method. and it worked. i used the oven to broil each side for 10 min. Thanks for your help

  • I have made my ribs this exact way several times. They are great! Thanks for the recipe.

  • First, you can buy a smoker for $50 new, or much less on craigslist. Folks saying you have to spend $100's or buy fancy equipment confuse the issue.

Unless you live in apartment, get a smoker! :) You don't have to 'baby sit' it either. I'm lazy. ;) I set-it-and-forget-it. Just build your fire properly, rub the meat, slap it on there, and check it once an hour. After 3 hrs I foil and finish in the oven to make 'em bite-thru tender.

Sorry, but liquid smoke and boiled ribs is not BBQ in my book.

  • @feldon27 u aint gota book dorkus

  • I tried this and it works!!!!!!!

  • Bet You Cant Beat My Aunts Ribbs :D

  • thats a great new way to cook ribs in the winter for us. Thanks for the tip

  • Cool video, but I must say, I did try your method a few months ago, and was throughly dissapointed. After checking out a bunch of videos on youtube I've been going with the " low and slow" method on the grill.

  • Nice Video.

In the hard rock cafe they told me to first bake the spareribs and then grill them.

You will get the fall off the bone ribs.

  • are u for real?

  • I've made them twice so far using the Jumpwedge technique. The beauty of this method is that you can be at work, yet your ribs are braising in the crock pot. The first time I rolled em, the second time, I cut a full slab of baby backs in half, and wrapped each in foil -no rolling up. The second time, I did sprinkle the ribs with a rub I had lying around in addition to the sugar-yeah. Word on the sugar - don't overdo it, you don't need very much. This "braising" method works fantastically.

  • I liked this.. I am not a rib lover .. most time the wife makes them and im just not into them but this was great.. now i do the ribs and the meat is nice and tender fall off the bone. I dont have a smoker nor do i need one this is just fine.. if i want smokehouse ribs i will go to Tony Romas or something lol

good job man thanks .. i can do this in a afternoon

  • Thanks for the video. I personally prefer a roasted/BBQ type approach rather than the steam/parboil for the general roasted texture. I never really preferred "fall of the bone" style - like them a bit chewy myself, working them a bit like the old cave-dudes of the past. However many of my friends love "fall off the bone" approach and I appreciate it but in a different way. Again, thanks for the very good demonstration.

  • omg those look so good i am going to try this thanks

  • lol, Great video. I'm far from being an expert so this was really a nice "different" way to make ribs, for me. I'll definitely take your video into consideration next time. Oh also, Kudos on your responses, You don't seem like the typical youtuber that can't restraint themselves from comments. Gotta give you a "thumbs up" just for that. Good Day and happy eating.

  • Why don't you just smoke them on that propane pit you got it would be a hell of a lot better than steaming them.

  • Why don't you just smoke them on that propane pit you got it would be a hell of a lot better than steaming them.

  • You should look into a Big Green Egg; you can 'set and and forget it' (as you stated above you were looking for), that produces results that rival any smoker with no nursing needed. Also, ribs should never 'fall off the bone,' but instead have a bit of a pull to them. Fall off the bone ribs equals overdone ribs every time.

  • @tampa444444

Thanks, good suggestions. Ribs also should be done the way you like them. Steaks aren't made to be eaten medium-rare. Some like them that way others like them rare, medium or well-done.

I like the meat fall off the bone.

  • @jumpwedge - good point. i do competition style ribs, as mentioned by tampa44444 you don't want overcooked ribs. judges like to have some pull to the meat. when i want to smoke ribs at home i use the texas crutch method, steam the ribs before saucing them and i get 'falling off the bone' ribs. it's all about preference. good video and good tip. i think i'll try it.

  • I usually don't have time during the week to "nurse" a slab or two [who really does!?], and usually resort to boiling up a slab or two [yeah, I know...], then seasoning them in my Brinkman Smoker for an hour. Looks to me like I could do the crock-pot method while at work, come home and get my Smoker going and really save some time. Don't knock it til ya try it..Great Idea!

  • Damn, if that's what they call BBQ ribs where you're from.....I am very glad I don't live there.

Sorry to be so blunt, but that ain't BBQ and grilling steamed ribs won't get them there either. Nor will slathering on sauce.

You might as well use a cheap pork roast for that method and save those ribs for their real calling, a pit.

  • @Eaglecreekbrewer

I partially agree, calling these BBQ ribs is a bit of an exaggeration but man they turn out good. These are for city slickers that don't wanna pay $150 for a smoker, don't wanna spend 5-7 hours nursing a rack of ribs, and are happy to just set it and forget it.

  • @jumpwedge Don't take my comment as a personal attack, it wasn't meant to be, I understand the concept you were trying to convey. I know I am a purist and as such get a little judgmental at times.

  • @Eaglecreekbrewer

    No offense taken.

  • @Eaglecreekbrewer Well "I" am offended and if jumpwedge is too nice to say it, I'll say if for em'.......... YOU SUKK!

  • @beloit22 Oh, I am sooooooo sorry the truth offends you.....not.

  • Tried this way a month or two ago, SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!

  • I've got to try this. Been meaning to make some in my crock pot for a while.

  • I made em this way and it was gooood. But then again, I was drunk at the time.

  • very good. pay no attention to the haters. The origins of bbq began in haiti, not texas, california, louisiana, missouri, etc....These haters need to stop drinking your drippings from your bbq:-) again, job well done. I love trying new recipes. I would have never thought about putting it in a ball. Also no big deal about washing the measuring spoon that was in the sugar. It didn't touch the meat. I guess you trust your butcher?you didn't wash the meat. again, job well done:-)

  • @daniellejudith Actually BBQ dates back to when man discovered fire, think about it.

I am sure it was long before Haitians tried to take claim of it either. But it was perfected right here in the good ol' USA. And although I understand the premise of the op, I also understand that these ribs are as far from BBQ as I am from the moon.

It's not a personal attack, he looks like a good dude. But calling a VW a Ferrari, doesn't make it so, even though both will get you down the road.

  • I'm going to try this method. Makes sense to me. Looks like it beats cooking them in a full oven for hours. A oven uses too much gas/electric. This way is very green. Thanks!

  • i dont know about that annotation im only 16 and when i put the smoke on my ribs over a propane fire it tasted really well i dont think you can do it wrong but you mustve cause mine tasted wonderful

  • Can i substitute water for beer?

  • you insult me... boy you come to Texas or South Carolina with that shit and you'll be laughed all the way home...

its all about smokin the meat

  • Comment removed

  • No, this isn't really BBQ, but this guy's not the first person to cook ribs this way. The thing about this method is that you're taking the rib characteristics out of the equation and just making them a vehicle for the bbq sauce. You can boil/steam down any cut of pork and slather it with bbq sauce and have pretty much the same result.

So, no, I would never cook ribs this way. But a lot of people like them this way and to each his own!

  • 6hours 4 that jest boil them 4 one hour and do ur bbq style on them...that not bbq

  • if you put 2 slabs in the crockpot do you have to leave it in longer?

  • THIS ISN'T BBQING.

  • when you wanna put 2 in the crock pot should you leave them in there longer than 5 hours or is it the same time no matter what?

  • Just tried this today. Cooked two racks in the Crock-Pot and did everything that he did except I had to create a way to keep the meat suspended over the water. Cooked them for 5hrs, threw them on the grill to sear and baste. I made a aluminum foil smoke pack with hickory chips to give them a slight smokey flavor. Turned out great. Ya'll really need to try this.....

  • all you used was sugar for your rub??? WTF

  • have u tried making two set of ribs in that sort of crock-pot? because i wasn't sure if they would cook the same with both

  • How long do you grill them ?

  • The ribs probably are tasty.....but to call them the most tasty ever is wrong because everybody knows that my ribs are the most tasty and then to call them bbq ribs is misleading a true bbq purest would NEVER NEVERNEVER steam ribs then grill them and then suggest liquid smoke . Please go buy yourself a Big Green Egg and use that crock pot to cook pinto beans in cause that is what a crock pot is really for.

  • this is why i love youtube. thanks for the kick ass recipe for college students to make some tasty ribs

  • Looks like a good method! Too many people get all worked up about unthinking adherence to some pre-defined historical procedure, and forget about the results, which are *really* what's important.

These looks like very tasty, perfectly cooked ribs. If it tastes good, it IS good.

I'll definitely make good use of some of your ideas here -- thanks for posting it.

  • i do the same thing basically except i do that until they get dark then i move them to the offside of the grill and close the lid which basically makes it an oven and thats how i get them to fall off the bone

  • Hey jumpwedge, just put the ribs in the crockpot about 10 minutes ago. hope your right lolol

  • is there a reason you shouldnt use dry rub on these ? have you tried it ?

  • At one of the largest nation wide BBQ restuarants and they do steam them halfway, take them out, let them chillout in a low temp frig and hold them untill you come in and order. Then they get them and do exactly what you saw on this video. I have used beer instead of water, and man, that's another story. It's not your Texas style of grilling and smoking, but it's another method that can work if you do not have all the components for long hour BBQ's. They do fall off the bone every time.

  • With so many comments for and against this method and naming of the video I thought I would give it a go. My rids done using this method turned out so tender. And with the set and forget slow cooker part it was so easy. Thanks jumpwedge.

  • if you want it to fall off the bone y not just use brisket in the pot its got more fat which gives u way more flavor and u save a perfectly good rack of ribs

  • ....BAM....

    LOL that part was jokes!

  • is this beef or pork?

  • Y did u roll em up and poke em?

  • making these right now

  • you are so applebees....

  • I used this recipe today and they were some of the best ribs I had in a long time. I will definately be passing it on and using it often!! Thanks for makin my day end perfect I'll sleep great tonight!!

  • Wow. Used this method today (Memorial Day) and they were EXCELLENT. I will work on maybe some rub recipes to match my tastes, but this was great. I love that I didn't have to used my oven for 3 to 4 hours, waste electricity and heat up my house. The crock pot is the only way to go. Thanks for the video, I am sharing it with my buddies in preparation for football season.

  • jumpwedge, i use your cooking techneque on the grill....they come out wonderfull everytime....also i use brown sugar instead of white, and ther great....way to go man. you are badass, and thats off the hook!!!, lols. peace, randy.

  • Not the way I normally do ribs. I use an offset smoker. However it gets to damn cold where I live to BBQ in the winter, and this seems like a simple way to do it. I'd just finish them in a oven set at 225 to give them color. I'd still use my patented Belly Rubbin Rib Rub, and I would definately put a capful(just a capful) of liquid smoke in the crock pot.

  • the way you ate that was like you were in heaven, that sugar pie must've been great afterwards too I bet.

  • This might be a good method but the whole 4 to 5 hours is a little too much. Just wrap them flat in foil and put them in the oven for 2.5 hours at around 300. You still get the steam and fall of the bone effect by doing that same as this method. Then just throw them on the grill. Same method as this just 3 hours quicker.

  • Awesome video i loved how ur voice just got scary all of a sudden lol

  • Dang those looked pretty good man. Thanks!

  • Wrapping in foil to cook in the crockpot seems a little redundant to me.

  • cool

  • im only watching dis so my brain shup up about ribs and i been think ribs 4 who nos how long

  • I have a question. If i use countrystyle ribs do i have to cook it any longer? If i do how much longer?

  • looks tasty thanks for posting!

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!! Thanks so much!!!!! I can't wait to try this, I know my family will really enjoy your ribs!!!! So easy to make, Thanks Again!!!!!

  • That must be California style.

  • Great video, thanks for sharing!! I just tried and ribs came out great.

  • i love ribs. i've been all over the place to eat ribs. i know a good rib when i taste it . now using the crook pot and grilling them after still tasted like bbq ribs to me . they were good too. good ribs jumpwedge...

  • the ribs were fucking good bro never did them like that but i will from now on....OMG the ribs just fell off the bone it was just great.

  • Comment removed

  • You got so lucky with the membrane! Rarely happens that way for me lol.

Going to try it like this tomorrow morn. Norm when I do it, I cut them in to hunks small enough to fit in, and they are cooked in mix of beef broth and spices. Mine fall off the bone too, but I like t his way of cooking them in steam instead. We'll see how it goes :)

  • hi jumpwedge, sorry,I know I sounded like a whiney muppet : )

  • Use apple juice in your crockpot instead of water. You wont even need sauce.

  • they look delicious, but I wonder, is it right to use a steamer/crock pot for four or five hours for just one lot of ribs? how much electricity is that?

  • who cares

  • @honeyflowerchild - hardly any because the cooker is so small and they are designed to be very energy efficient. Unfortunately they are slow so most people over look there benefit.

  • @honeyflowerchild Crock pots are supposed to be used for that length of time, thats the point of them.

  • @honeyflowerchild , who cares how much electricity you use anyway??? i pay the same amount every month on my electric bill no matter now much power i use. so i like to leave every light on in the house 24/7 just to waste energy. i love it

  • @honeyflowerchild - Crock pots are actually very energy efficient. Running one for 8 hours might cost $1 (probably less). Far cheaper than running a gas or electric oven, or gas grill over the same time period. And light-years cheaper than burning charcoal.

But, like I said below, I would never cook ribs in a crock pot. :-)

  • @bluevolume hey, thanks for the information, I might think of investing in one of them after all! : )

  • K no you don't need to wash the meat. Having it in that heat for that long will kill anything. And I tried this today. Veryyy good. But I only put it in for 4 hours. Deffs gotta do it for at least 5.

  • if you want falloff the bones all it is slow cook for 2 to 3 hours

  • I made ribs again using this method twice in the last 2 weeks and as always they turned our perfect.

    Set it and forget it.

  • @jumpwedge The rib technique was amazing my ribs were never as good as they were last night

  • Washing the meat is so unnecessary.

  • Dont look to bad. But thats not true BBQ.

  • @jsteed0 You DON'T have to wash your meat before cooking it. It is totally unnecessary the heat from the cooking process will KILL all germs. Other than that comment GREAT cooking technique. I will try!

  • dont you think you should wash them first, people wash your meat before you cook it .please!!!!!!!.

  • @jsteed0 lol good eye. I think he actually washes them off camera at minute 0:36

  • Interesting. If you have to cook the ribs inside I can see the advantages with this method. You can't replace true smoking them, Good video presentation though dude. I'm actually suprised there's any meat left oo the bone. I love ribs.

  • This method is so wrong on so many levels, it's one thing to enjoy stewed ribs, but to try and call it BBQ is unbelievable ....

You ought to try a 'real BBQ' sometime and do the world a favor and remove this silly video from the unsuspecting world ....

  • I admit it is a little low on the BBQ, but man you gotta try them.

    Many have and were pleased.

  • Millions of people like McDonalds too ... doesn't make it good. Many people still think the best way to do ribs is parboiling. Finishing ribs on a gasser does not make it BBQ. White sugar does not substitute for a good rib rub.

Long story short, you have come up with an odd way to cook ribs and they may be fine for some folks, but they are NOT BBQ!

  • @jumpwedge dont listen to that dude he doesnt know what he is talking about, some people like me live in a small new york city apartment and dont have bbq grills, so this method would be great for someone like me. i use the grill pan afterwards. i havent tried this method yet but it looks very intresting. On ? what if i shreeded the rib meat from a baby back and sauteed it then covered it in bbq sauce afterwards, cuz im busy and 5 hours is way to much time. Wouldn't sauteing be faster?

  • @jumpwedge This is a great way to get started cooking ribs. This was the first I watched when I started and it will help many others. And yes, fall off the bone is the way to go. I now use a stove in my garage I converted to a smoker. Another good way I've found is the broiler pans with your floating steam concept covered in foil. You can add your dry rubs and pour apple juice in the bottom.

  • wow its just a video chill out...LMao

  • No matter the media ... mis-information should not be floating around like it's gospel!

Things like this could set back BBQ for years in some regions ....

  • @PCCSqueezy wow dude ur so mess'd up

  • @PCCSqueezy try them and see how they taste b4 being such a hater

  • @PCCSqueezy Geeze calm down. this is a great vid to show how to make "easy ribs" for all of those regular people who don't have a smoker, and wood chips and just want some tasty ribs.

Thanks for the video, really helped out

  • @PCCSqueezy Hey Squeezy I bet you dont even own a grill or a crock pot! crawl back into your hole and microwave a hot pocket ! I have smoked them and I have tried this method and both are great! Go back to porn hub and jerk off!

  • freakin glenn beck on the grill

  • I made ribs this weekend using this method again after not having them for months and they turned out perfect. Just follow the video and you can't go wrong.

  • Those ribs look kinda wimpy, I never boil or steam my ribs...check out the ribs in my video section...to each thier own, i guess

  • making them right now, but i added some honey along with the sugar. I m thinking that when they are done in the crock pot, i m gonna put them in the oven with the bbq sauce for 10 minutes. I dont have a grill lol/

  • will this recipe work with country spare ribs?

  • Never tried... Let me know how it works.

  • Steamed ribs?!?! Really?? They're ribs, they're not crab legs! Never ceases to amaze me the new and ingenious ways people come up with to ruin a perfectly good rack of ribs.

  • well... bbq is actually steaming.. you bbq around 250F which is the same temperature with steaming. The only difference is that in bbq you use dry heat and smoke, whereas when steaming you use wet heat and no smoke. both methods have the same goal, to turn the connective tissue into lip smacking delicious gelatin, which is why the meat fall off the bone.

  • I just finished this recipe and the ribs came out great! This sure does beat the old fashioned way and it is 10 times easier! Thanks for taking the time to post this....

  • I'll have to try making them this way.

  • They might taste ok. A boiled ribeye might taste ok. This has nothing to do with bbq.

  • nice video, thats kinda how we cook em sometimes if we dont feel like muckin with the smoker......but we put em in a cooking bag, then when there done we put em on the grill to finish like you did...good stuff....
