Crysis DX10 i5 750 + HD 5830

I have 2 radeon 5830's in crossfire with an i7 930 and I can get high fps in Crysis but it looks really choppy for some reason, when I turn AA up to 4x + It looks like I am running at like a steady 20fps even though it says im getting 40-50fps, when I use a single card everything is silky smooth but when I crossfire it looks choppy..

run a lower resolution haha, you could probably get 40 fps if you putt aa on 2x and a lower resolution

@TuGo11 Fraps is an very famous and very used recording program. At least most people use it for that reason. Most recording gamers or whatever you wanna record uses fraps. It's easy to download, simply search fraps download on google and there will be several versions to choose from.

Is 5830 a good card? I was thinking to buy a new card to replace my crappy 4850... I have in mind the new 6000 series, something like 6830. If I don't like the 6000 series, I'll go for a 5830 or 5850...

The only good card nVidia has this time is GTX 460 but many people have it now so I don't want it... GTS 450 sometimes is even worse than a 5750! :P

If u don't already know, you need two hd 5830s, a crossfire connector, and 2 PCIe x16 slots (x16, x16) is recommended but (x8,x8) will work too, and a crossfire motherboard

You can buy Phenom II X4 955 or even 920 and overclock it , so you won't waste your money.i5 is more for decoding,decrypting,and doing stuff with archives,media all that.AMD is more for visual experience.

I was thinking about getting Gbyte 5770 Super OC, and now i am buying 5830 with aliens vs predators game from XFX.

So go with the highest vga you can get, and save money on the processor.(But not too much, tho)

@ganondorffromhell I think , that buying a Phenom II X4 925 and 5850 would be ideal. Also notice, that motherboards with chipsets from 7xx series are the easiest ones to overclock.Keep in mind that you will need mo-bo with AM3 socket, and i think there would be DDR3 not DDR2.Also, AMD mo-bo's are cheaper.

Well, the recently released GTX 460 1gb gets 26 FPS in crysis at the 1680x1050 resolution, and that card blows the 5770 out of the water. Crysis is simply a demanding game.

Actually, it's 4 frames slower. My point is, Crysis doesn't do a lot of GPU' justice. For instance, 5830 is a 11 frames faster in Dirt 2 at the 1680x1050 res.

@heflys20 Yah it basically depends on the games and benchmark engines I already know those cards have a few more fps then 5770 but it doesn't seperate enough to make a big deal but the 460 and 5830 will run better then the 5770 when it comes to adding AA on high resolutions but then I again I was considering a 5770 or 460Gtx but i'm not really a fan of Nvidia I prefer Ati cards better for the choice of power effeciency because some Nvidia cards are energy whores.

@Mountaind33w yes, an i5 750 is the eqivelent of a X4 phenom 965, better in some cases, but the phenom is better than the i5 sometimes, there both sbetter at different things. i would highly recomend the am3 socket because socket 1156 is dead (outdated) because of intels ignorance of making new sockets every day, lol :)
