@Tenntoad the Bill Moll has an amazing sound and also the Taylor is really crisp. Great choice. I have to say, you show a great sensibility towards music in the way you play subtlies in your arrangements and in the way you touch the strings and you have a great taste on guitars
@pierofocaccia Thanks for the kind comments. I'm VERY pleased with the Moll. He is very well known for his arch-tops (especially in the Jazz world), but started building flat-tops again just a few years ago.
I love to play this song while I'm plugging away at the keyboard, and your version is fantastic. Pure fun coming from my speakers. Thanks for sharing!
thank you, but really, i can't understand how he accents his own picking, his today's subtle groove is beyond my grasp, you know.the LSTE version on the ryan, that in the tv studio... (and -honest-...i didn't even hear or appreciate the difference way back then...) just wish i had some time to crack it...
Yep, Leo's original recording of this tune were faster. But as I noted in the info/notes section above, "My take is slightly different, so that can be good or bad. ;-)". At the same time, Leo plays it at a slower tempo these days. Whatever floats your boat.
None of Leo's recordings of this tune are on a 12, but I've seen him do it live using a 12 many times. And he kicked ass with it. As the saying goes; "He's Leo.....and you're not." ;-)
Yeah, I know the exact vid on youtube you're talking about (the Japanese one). Like I said, his "recorded" version (ie: album or CD) is on 6, but have seen him live on the 12.
He had to change his style due to right arm & elbow problems from his aggressive playing style of that time. Thus the change from using picks to no picks.
1pumuckel1.....No, Leo doesn't play with picks these days. What vid are you looking at to make you say this? Right off the bat, I would have to say it is an old vid.
But I agree that some of his older tunes sound better with picks.
1pumuckel1....What exactly is your problem? You make a far out statement (while managing to be a real prick about it at the same time), then say you have a photo proving it. Yet you refuse to show your photo.
At first I thought it was just your English (I noted early on that you're German), however I now believe you're a simple youtube troll. And low-rating a video simply because you don't like what I'm saying just proves such. Stop acting like a child.
Holy shit....great to hear from you Chris! I was just thinking of you the other day. Loved your vids of you opening for the Asylum Street Spankers....kick butt good!
Great performance, thats a really catchy tune. I'm admittedly new to this style of play and would be grateful if you could recommend some others I could listen to (been listening / workin on merle travis / chet / tommy emmanuel stuff recently) thanks, and great job again!
Wait until you've banged your head on the sloped ceiling a few times & you wouldn't want a room like this!
BTW, I clicked on your video & see that you're covering a tune by a good friend of mine...Slippery Slope, by Bob Evans. That is such a great tune. Keep it up.
Excellent. Very accurate. Also its got all the Kottke `Doinks`

@pierofocaccia: In this vid, it's a Taylor LKSM-6. In my other vids, it's either a Bill Moll-12, or aTaylor LKSM-12.
Thanks. ;-)

Joe, I'm pretty sure you are correct on this. As I understand it Leo hasn't used picks since around 1980 or so. Holy crap! That's almost 30 years.
