  • Jimi would be proud. Look at all those brothers on stage! Real powerful.

  • rest in p eddie.

  • I will NEVER!! look at Parliment the same!!! WOW WOW WOW!!!!!

  • amazing guitar, amazing drumming, amazing bass, amazing solo, amazing speech. this song has it all!

  • Thumbs up if your mind is dancing at 2:50

  • Why is it, that so many videos are not being allowed to be shared? What is this crap?

  • I saw them play this song yesterday at a festival in Paris..... No Comment :)

  • @gnrdspf94 - I'm about to see P-Funk concert in San Francisco next week.... I'm so excited about it!!! I'm sure this will be the best concert EVER!

  • @tiaputadobatiman I hope for you :) the concert was fantastic with keziah jones for the opening. I hope for you they'll play a maggot brain as beautiful as last sunday ^^

  • This is really emotional and beautiful sounding. The soloing reminds me a little bit of David Gilmour. As a self proclaimed "Metal Head" I still appreciate this very much.

I didn't think "funk" could also sound so spiritual. Two thumbs up!!

  • @GeneLattanzi i was reminded of gilmour as well

  • preachin

  • As a little girl (bout 13 or so) I had this album and this song touched my emotions so strongly back then. Music has always been my high. I know a lot of people used to get high to this but, the music took me there all by itself! Powerful!

  • @9to5not2010 Great comment . Me too...except for the little girl part.

  • @Thunderfingers999 Lol! Awesome! :)

  • THIS IS THE GREATEST PERFORMANCE EVER OF THIS SONG!

  • what effects is he using?

  • this is awesome but why isnt there a live performance where they use a wah wah pedal like in the album version!

  • METALLICAAAAAAA.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wonderfull !!!!!!!!!

  • It sucks they only go through the motions of playing this these days... If they dont enjoy playing it they should stop. Last pfunk show I saw Hampton only came out to play this song and it was the absolute worst version I've ever heard.

Point is.. Amazing song, with so much emotion, but to simply go through the motions on this is sad.

  • @Dinterworld

    this version is excellent though!!!

  • this always nearly brings me to tears........

  • why did hampton take hazel's part???

  • eddie hazel owns mike hampton

  • So many drugs...so many drugs...but it's all right.

  • my 1st hearing this,and.....its deep and soul piercing.

  • I hate to say it this way but this is the SHIT!!! Mother earth is pregnant for the third time for yall have knocked her up. I have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe and I was not offended, cause I knew I had to rise above it all or drown in my own shit.

  • funk is the cream of the groove ;D

  • Wow I havent heard this in some time, still love it. I remember listening to WMMS in Cleveland on friday nights, the BLF Bash used to end with this song in the 70s and 80s. Man thoes were the days.

  • This is porn for da ears.

  • LMAO at Michael Hampton the kid getting tired at the finale and Eddie Hazel the Legend still shredding it out to the end.

  • People THINK funk isn't a guitar players music...but riddle me this...why is it the greatest guitarists on earth all play funk, at least some of the time? Granted, Jimmy Page was bad at it, but even Led freaking Zeppelin dipped into the funk on more than one occasion.

  • this is pretty fuckin metal right here

  • sirnoseMaggot got mr through college.allowing mr to have my soul tweeked.Agret song, george at his craziest best!

  • RIP Eddie, Gary, Jimi, Wes . . . why did ya'll leave me down here with my Fender Strat??? . . .

  • a song that needs no lyrics

  • can someone translate opening speech fully?ı can't hear all the words.Actually i still don't understand how native speaker can talk like this :)

  • people said to me-watch maggot brain its amazing-its just a big guitar solo. i thought how boring will that be? oh, i see, it IS awesome

  • So COMPLETELY unbelievable...

Eddie and George are gods, but people overlook the rest of this ridiculously talented band too much. So few can tap this kind of emotion. It's unbelievable.

  • @voodoochild994 yeah, they weren't just some funk band with a few big dancefloor hits..

    they were high art.

  • Fuck! Now, that's talent!

  • Excuse me while I change lol

  • Look at George Clinton waving his hands at 6:50... like he just can't get enough of that mind-melting guitar.

  • wow!9.48min of emotive guitar.who directed mr.hazel!to play like his mother had just died..mr.clinton himself?great! absolut!

  • Free your mind and your ass will follow Haha

    damn right fool!

  • Anyone know which gig this was? and more importantly, was it released on the thing known as dvd?

  • you cant even hear eddie!

  • I just love the part near the end where the drummer goes apeshit hittin' all those drums. Heh.

  • this song gives me the tingly feeling in the front of my brain, the one that makes you feel enlightened... i cant even put it into words properly

  • golden fo' sho'.

  • jeeeeeeeeeezzzzzuzz

  • and ya know that! lol

  • When and where was this concert? Does anybody know?

  • It's Mike Hampton taking the first solo, and he can tear it up, but in my book Eddie Hazel was the best on this song -- he recorded the original, after all. (That's Eddie being drowned out by Mike about halfway through this vid.)

  • George Clinton's intro is quite frankly nothing short of awesome. The guitars math the kickassery.

  • the best fucking video...

    best fucking song...

    love this..

  • omg funk me

  • HOLY SHIT, van halen eat ur heart out...

  • This song is one of my top two guitar solos. The other one is "Watermelon in Easter Hay" by Frank Zappa off the album "Joe's Garage: Act 3." The two are very comparable and both beautiful.

  • This is the best song/composition ever !--it beats hendrix/van halen /steve vaai and the whole damn lot of em ,,,, when it comes to emotional aspects and soul --god it is good !!!!!!

  • This is great I love it to Death but it does not touch Hendrix.....

  • don't get me wrong -i love jimmy -H -alway have and will -,as he was the greatest , and without him , music , would have never evolved as to what it is today -it was just my point in time -as I was into all kinds of stuff-and you can apreciate the moment too I think -check out my favs.you will find hendrix there often -thanks for the comment

  • eddie is the 2nd lead on this version... i suggest getting funkadelic live meadowbrook, rochester, 1971 for the best recording of maggot brain...

  • Black Rock N Roll at it's Best.

  • Black Rock & Roll is Rock & Roll.

  • holy shit

  • they culd of gave the song a name that actually reflected what it sounded like but still its awesome

  • Best damn funk group ever!

  • Eddie was gone up to Heaven on the Mothership by this time

  • is that eddie hazel or michael hampton?

  • omg

  • Fantastic.

  • nice

  • This should have thousands more views. I can't believe that fucker Chris Crocker or whatever he's called has more views than this. Put boobs as one of the tags. Awesome video!

  • We need no sensationalism, ladies and gentlemen. Let the posh ignore this piece - it's their loss, anyway.

  • Feel ya. Futile effort, though: all people care about now is how to milk the money off those antique-hatin' teens.

  • @frusciante70 haha boobs is one of the tags

  • @ChrisVGuitarist Yep! It was something I couldn't help.

  • amazing
