  • Thanks for posting this! I have a 1218 and a 1219, and wanted to buy the 45 spindle. Until I saw your video, I wasn't sure if it was actually a stacker.

    how many 45s can you stack at a time?

    For the 1219, if your cartridge is mounted following Dual's height recommendation, you can stack up to 6 records on the spindle. Stacking records affects the vertical tracking angle of the cartridge, so as a compromise, Dual designed it so that the alignment would be best for the third record in the stack. This is the reason for the "signal" and "multi" settings on the lever, next to the tonearm's base.

    I should caution you though:

    Since this turntable is almost 40 years old, if you have never had it serviced, the grease has probably hardened and needs to be cleaned/changed for proper operation.

    There are plastic tabs on the outer gimble ring, that raise the arm when you change the "tracking" lever from "single" to "multi". The lever should move freely and easily, from one setting to the other. If it is forced, the ring can break!
