Mercedes does make good cars, but there are other cars out there that are just as good for less money. Isn't that what makes brilliant engineering? To be able to build a car that does the same for less? Granted a car is an expression of one's passion for automotive enthusiasm which is objective but I beg to differ than a Mercedes is the best car in the world. It's all in what you define as the best car, and that my friends is different for everyone. So get off your high horse.

@Mcmerc01 no...was stuck with a 2008 s550 but traded that up for a proper car, i think for most of us who have actually owned these cars, reliability has never been that great. and although warranty covers the problems, its the time and having to deal with the ignorant mercedes customer service, not something you want specially with the e cls and the s class sedan price range

Correction, the Japanese were given the knowledge and technology to produce cars from "the white man". That is the only reason they know how to manufacture cars. And the only reason they were taught how to do it was to cut costs.

In other words, Asians are useful to build our products cheaply but they couldn't invent the technology.

I have w124 which is 17 years old. I could spend 10 times more money for new car and would have axpenses at the moment. I love my Mercedes. I think there is no car like MB.

I saw on youtube (W124 quality test) where a UK mechanic for their roadside assistance on being asked how many Mercs he was called to in the latest year period answered only 1 out of approx 2000 other brand cars with mechanical problems.

The 1 Merc called to was only because its immobiliser had a problem! Fuck that is an amazing statement of German over-engineering, I'm sold, esp on the w124 (last of the no expense spared quality built Mercs).
