  • dont matter how many times you watch it its always good lol

  • Damn I remember this video from back in the day!!! I made a clutch replacement reply to this artwork

  • all in 10 min?!? i dont think so... the vid was 10 minits long and it was on fast motion so it cant be less then 10 min.

  • @zik2000 no shit

  • 5:55 is this what everybody refers to as the driver mod? :D

  • Nice build bro. What was the reall time line how many hours

  • fucking awesome. hope all that new shit you threw in was forged ...5/5 *s

  • how much did allthe parts cost?

  • hey man i need ur help with something... im rebuilding the same engine now the engine is ready to drop in.. but i have a problem i lost my oil filter bracket i cant find it anywhere and i call the dealer parts stores and junk yard and no one has it.. please if u know anything let me know thanks........... great videao man

  • Damn sweet vid even though i dont even like dsm much at all. two thumbs up.

  • Aren't you supposed to torque things down in stages and is that one old piston among 3 new ones?

  • WIN! Great video dude, I have a couple questions though

Did you mic the crank arms? How did you know what size bearings to buy?

How about the crank shaft same question.

  • nice video. best 4g63 build i've seen

  • Lol, 5:54. Rape face and ball scratchin'.

  • wow man.... some one needs a port 'n polish.... great build... my friend had a gsx awd... nasty fast

  • legendaryyyy. nice project

  • yeah man this is a good vid,i bet wen your mates came around it was a friday and youz drunk beer in the shed while building a motor =)

  • you torking that thing and flopping around like that couldn't be good.

  • you forgot the valve cover!!!!! hahaha nice build!!! ima try to record my rebuild on my civic

  • You make a rebuild look very easy !

  • Nice build

  • oddtaylone : im thinking its a 7 bolt. the cam angle sensor on the head behind the cam gear, the fact that the block has a main girdle, and lastly the bolt pattern for the bell housing.. every 6bolt ive ever seen had only 4 bolts holding the engine to the transaxle.

  • @DSMattitude its a second gen motor from second gen talon/eclipse so yea ur right its a 7 bolt

  • Nice job guys, and we always recommend lubricating everything that needs it.

  • fuck WMG. Im glad mainstream music keeps losing more and more money every year.

  • Very cool! (coming from a Ford guy)

  • the song is get loose by benny benassi, i just play it in one tab and this video in the other,. lol

  • no plastigauge FTL you had that bottom end appart in under 6000 miles i bet to redo your rod bearinsgs

  • you can jus get da stroker kit for these engines they only 400 bucks an all the extra power you gets its fuckin worth it

  • CK.E-BAY

    RONS 4G63 GO KART.

  • Fuck WMG, cunts ! Its actually like everything else, once you know how its easy. If you take the time to mesure all the tolerances and check small stuff like that, you can build a sweet motor. Nice work bro !

  • watching a 4G63 put together properly by human hands and a fellow Wisconsinite makes me happy, gives me hope for humanity. Almost gives me a boner. If it were a 1gb I'd be creaming in my shorts. Glad somebody's got the time and resources to rebuild these magnificent works of art.

  • One of the greatest videos on youtube. Should be shown worldwide in mechanic learning classes!

  • I will be blocking off my FIAV. What do I do with the lines going into the FIAV assembly? What else needs attention? Thanks!

  • I assume you plastigauged everything before making the video. I am about to assemble mine here shortly and I was thinking of making a similar video.

Also, aren't the mains supposed to be at least line honed if you put main studs in?

  • he was checking piston ring gap clearence....so wen they get hot and expand they dont break or fail

  • such a sick video! props. I agree, what a regular thing us dsmers are doing.

  • hey you forgot to take the head studs back out and re torque them. you gotta stretch em. i know thats a 6 bolt cuz that timing is fuckn cake. 7 bolt timing sux to do unless the motor is out.

  • ARP studs don't need to be retorqued. They don't stretch.

So if he is using ARP studs he is just fine.

BOLTS need to be retorqued as they stretch, and are a ONE time use only. New bolts for every rebuild.

  • you are right, from my experience I always retorque head bolts unless ARP says otherwise in their manual, which they always have

  • this vid is cool as hell!!!!

  • what were u doing with the piston rings before dropping the pistons in? like u put the piston ring in the cylinder first, then u put the top of the piston in? is that to get the right size or somethin?

  • its called gapping the rings . you use a feeler gauge to measure clearance between the ring gap after you push the ring into the cylinder . he used the piston as a reference on how far down to press the rings for appropriate measurements and to asure the rings are level .

  • good vid :)

  • Nice build that lil fucker looks a cracker

  • i bet this is a video of him taking his motor apart. its all just played in reverse! lol kidding great video

  • Cool vid. Only at 6:40 you forgot to put the power steering pump bracket on the block before the main water pipe :) Did you have to remove the manifold, turbo, waterpipe again to put the power steering pump bracket back in? or were you not running ps? :)

  • great vid!!

  • you dont have to take the crank out to change those bearings

  • looks like you may have bulit one or two dsm motors befor lol

  • when you own a DSM..seems to be a regular thing lol

  • does it work ? i can do same job but y haven't they turned it on ? :p

  • 5:55 second lay-out master xD

  • Great video

  • I love how the dsms interior is so much similar.

  • 5:55 left side of the screen. Hilarious!

  • YOU WOULD NO THAT

  • Great video man with engine build...did you use thrust washers when putting in crank???

  • that's a 7 bolt 4g63, they don't use thrust washers, they use a thrust bearing. 4g64 use thrust washers.

  • Thanks alot man

  • There is more than one 4g63 7bolt. They actually do have a thrustwasher version.

  • No, i mean the one in the vid. I have the same motor. I think the 99 might use washers. not sure though, I haven't seen with my own eyes. which years use them??

  • how retarded after 3 years of this vid being up youtube pulls a bitch move and calls copyright

  • dude awesome video...working with your own engine...is the best thing on earth...

  • HEY WTF warner!!! ooo, careful youre gonna loose billions out of ppl streaming music out of engine building videos.... fuckin ass wipes!! thats why every1 downloads your music..... anyways

Best video ive ever seen, it shouldnt have been tampered with, but ok... video of the car!! :)

  • that evry CooL

  • It makes me glad to see that I'm not the only kid these days that can build a motor. Seems like it always ends up being some kid whines to his parents till they give 'em the money to go pay some one else to build their car.

All they while they have next to no knowledge of the inner workings of their riced out civic, and when it breaks, they have no idea what happens, whine to their parents who pay the repair bill, and it all starts over again.

I'm proud to fix all (ok, most) of my own things.

  • there would be more, since labour is costing more and more people just have to figure out things themself. and again there could be less, since cars are getting mroe and more reliable.

  • I wish i can learn to build an engine ='[. I want to so bad...my uncle was a gearhead, he had a '69 charger with a fiberglass front end, and my dad said it was really fast...if his engine broke, he would take it home, pull the engine out, fix it, put it back together and run it that night...*sigh* i wish i can learn how to fix my engine and build one =[

  • The best thing I can say is, one, get a Factory Service Manual for you vehicle, and also a Haynes or Chilton manual.

Then find a mechanic, and make him your best buddy ever, cause he's going to be the one to teach you how to rebuild that motor, lol.

  • It's really *not* as difficult as it seems if you have a keen memory as to how things go back together, patience, and make sure that everything is within spec.

  • That was cool I wish there were more vids on youtube like this. I would like to take the mechainc course for my personal benefit one of these days. You should post a vid of the car running next!

  • i dont see any measurung or plasti gauge for double check, can you say another rebuild after startup or first test drive. A for effort tho, i always respect a fellow builder, just need some more tools and motors under your belt

  • well thats fucking retarded. no fucking sound? who the hell cares if the rich cock sucker who made the music isnt getting EVEN RICHER. get fucked record companies!

  • nice build man, i just rebuilt and upgraded my 7 bolt....lets see how long that will last haha.

  • i see that dial indicator on front of the crank, same play as in crank walk ?

  • "This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by WMG. The audio has been disabled. More about copyright "

    LOL nazi germany much?

  • This is pretty dang cool

  • ok when i got my awd talon the man i got it from said that the trany was welded can you tell me what that ment???

  • i randomly read this on one of my many engine research weeks, but im pretty sure he meant the differential, i read people weld the differential, so its, well, not "limited" slip, there aint no slip!

  • Sounds like your talking about people welding the differential pin, which still maintains the complete functionality of an open differential, but the pin isn't going to heat up, snap the retaining pins, and blow through your tranny case, all because it's welded into place. It's a lot harder to break a good strong weld than it is to break a roll pin.

  • dope vid

  • ok what engine do a stock talon/eclipse have

  • 4g63T this ones probly a 7 bolt chrank unless these guys did an engine swap ! over to a 6 bolt crank !

  • Good job, seriously man. How long did all this take you?

  • Very nice, takes some skills to do that. Those are some beefy rods.

I'm building a Mazda KLDE / KLZE / KLG4 hybrid in a couple months, ported ZE heads and ZE cams, ZE rods and pistons, G4 intake manifold, DE valve retainers.

  • 6:39 there is a guy blowing off your motor ha

  • true that lol

  • 5:56 he scratches his pen

  • 7:19 look at the timing belt until 7:22 so it isnts possible to get it first try

  • isnt it a 4g64t!!!!!!!

  • ahhh turbo :D

  • engine neatly done! very good vid!

  • what about bearing clearence

  • dam it tht easy to rebuild my motor, How much u pay for the rebuild kit?

  • ROFL!

    5:56 he scratches his balls

  • Nice video. Wonder why you didn't torque your head studs into the block before you set the head/gasket onto the block?

  • nice video, but all in less than ten minute's????... no... see when you go to put in the car you gotta take the pulley's off because (we all hate dsm for that. oh ya and who is the dip shit in the back ground (during the cam install) that's playen with himself. good vid though.

  • that was cool to watch. needed to get my engine on

  • nice video

  • Why bluid 2g win 1g heads flow much better.

  • wow great video.

  • fine, fine, fine very good very good very good veryverygooooood

  • It's COOL!! and great for learning to know, thank you for your video.

  • i see now y people say that owning a dsm makes u a mechanic

  • im sure wildman113 has a nice peace of muscle he gets to drive, and then at night he parks it in the drive way goes inside and fucks his sister, its a win win for him. ill keep driving my 4g and gladly be retarded

  • Ooo snap... being the dsm fan I am, I cannot allow you to associate a 4g with actual dsm's. 3g's, 4g's are really embarassing, sorry, they just are.

  • i didnt mean a 4 generation, i meant 4g63t i just left it at "4g", i have a 2g gst, the 3g and 4g are embarrassing i agree with you

  • Why would you waste your time and money building a piece of shit engine like that?? Mitsubishi?? LMAO, garbage.

  • hahah what do you drive.? an Ls1.. joke joke joke.. ahaha!

  • Let me guess, trans am owner? The 4G63 is probably the most powerful 4 banger engine out there, if a 4 cylinder engine can be a mach for your 8 cylinders of American muscle, you have to give us DSM owners some credit.

  • Being the most powerful 4 banger is like being the smartest kid with down syndrome. You can be proud, but in the end you're still retarded.

  • Ok Wild man..

tell me this. When youre going down the road in your viper or your vet.. and a 4 cylinder jap car flys by you so fast you cant read the license plate. tell me, how good do you feal knowing you paid twice as much. To top it off bro, you got no chance of catching up to that piece of shit four cylinder

  • ^^ funny... now he didn't reply to this...LOL

  • yea 10 mins..... just to complete torch specs.

but nice work took me alot longer to do the same work. i guess its easier when you have all the parts all at once

  • sweet vid. the tube header setup looks like a pretzel. lol

  • Great job!

  • so the owner of the car did.....nothing.

  • nice work. I had a question. my GF had a 95 tsi, but i think i over boost, the car, now when the car star you could heard a loud noise from the bottom block, like a hammer from the inside..you guys got any idea..

  • Just get some thicker oil and keep those revs up, she'll be fine bud.

  • oohhohoho that is bad news. dont drive it any more take it to a mechanic.

Tell them to check out your flywheel first and see if its grinding. if not then u came across the worst scenario.

certain 4 cylinders were made with low compression pistons even though they were built with turbo.

so yes u over boosted the eclipse!

the problem is also known as crankwalk

you crankshaft isnt spinning incorrectly. which is the problem with overboost. if u dont stop the piston might crack the walls!

  • is this the same engine for the evo xiii?

  • I guess we will have to wait till the Evo 13 comes out to see if they use this block.

  • very nice work

but not in 10 minutes at all

    but very clean gob

  • its called timelapse

  • looks about right... just ugh, that muzak!!! it killed me the whole time

  • WEll done ......

  • what exactly is the point in rebuilding a 7bolt? if its fucked atleast throw a 6bolt at it

  • BAD ASS VIDEO. I love it, I can't to build my next one, I've had 12 and just got another, BOOST!!!

  • Miss those days... This video reminds me of my teenage years. Cept I had a 1st Gen, but that's just cause it was $1300. All I did was rebuild the head, hack the MAF, chop the air box, cat-back and 19psi

  • great video.

  • There is a replacement for displacement, its called BOOST!

  • put the same amount of boost on a chevy 427 and see what happens...there is no replacemant for displacement

  • Uhm dsms are not mainly used for drag. they are very versatile, lets go autocrossing in you boat and see where you end up.

  • hey did you watched the torque of the scews? just for know, because i never seen a torquemeter (i don't know if it's well speled and it's the right name my english it's not very good with technical words :P)

  • Most probably pre torqued to an amount then final 90degrees, it's very common to do that, makes for better accuracy..

  • where i can get that black rubber for pistons??

  • Great job man!!

lets see da car RUNNING now tho!

  • redneck cant aford to drive his v8 dsm4 life

  • you are retarded why even make a comment like that. i bet there are some four cylinders that will put a hurtin on your v8. and yes there is replacement for displacement its called a turbo lol.

  • Put a little 4 banger with a turbo or a blower,up against a blown or turbo charged V8.

What then? My opinion is tthat the V8 wins. Provided the engine is the only variance. Don't get me wrong, 4 bangers can produce some wicked power. I just prefer the sheer pull your brains through the back of your scull torque of a big block Chevy engine. That's just me.

  • Okay, how about brent rau's 6 second eclipse, that is a turbocharged 4 banger.

  • I don't think its about the power really. a heavy v8 in a heavy musclecar vs. a 4 banger in a little import, who's to say? But for me, I'd use an import as a daily driver (I drive 100 miles a day) and work on a classic car during the weekend, and drive it around town during the warmer months.

  • There is no replacement for displacement, so use a v8 not no small 4 cylinder.

  • And then there's John Shepherd!!! Running 7's with a 4 cylinder!!! So i guess there is a replacement for displacement....its called the 4G63T. Dumbass! Do ur research before u talk shit!!! Oh and learn how to type redneck..."not no small 4 cylinder"...TARD!!!!!! FTW!!!!

  • Well put it in front of a sled and see what power it makes.

  • For the record John Shepherds 4g63 makes well over 1000hp off NOS....and the Magnus 2g dragster 4g63 makes well over 1300hp and runs in the 6's! It is the worlds fastest and most powerfull 4 cylinder in the world! That is a fact!

  • Balancing Shafts?

  • NUB. not properly torquing the bolts.

  • great that helps alot

     thanx

  • how did u know how to do the timeing?

  • Dude, you're not going to learn how to set cam timing by asking someone on YouTube... Buy a manual and read all about building engines or don't take yours apart.

  • no shit duude thats why i asked how he KNEW i dint ask him how to do it.i was hopin he could refer me to a manuel such as haynes manuals or somthin. why dont u read before u speak

  • Haha, why don't you think before you ask stupid questions. He knew how to set cam timing because he learned how to set cam timing, what kind of answer did you expect with a retarded question. Obviously if you want to know how to set cam timing and build engines you read books, I would have thought that was apparent.

  • Great,great!!!

    You're very young and BRAVO!!!

    Simon

  • nice job kyle

  • baaaddddaaasssss

  • I get the feeling that this isn't the first time you have built one of these.

  • how much hp does it?

  • great job buddy..i wish i could do it too

  • wow, you work so quick!, is your quality anygood?

  • 16gs are good for tens you dont need a huge turbo to be fast

  • 16gs good for tens? lol theres been what one company that has dip into the 10s barely with a 16g... you say it like its a common thing that ppl do... high 11's on a big 16g is a good defeat

  • its true, people are dumb. ive tried every incarnite of the 16g 20g, mutt, green. none of them are very good for a fast car. big turbo all the way!

  • I will agree with you on that because there are A LOT of measurements when it comes to building a engine the correct way.

  • yeah what you can get away with and what is right are far between. youd be amazed at the horseshit you can slap together and be relatively successful. good learning experience, and its fun to tinker. but you never know when the fuse is gonna run out ;)

  • lol tell me about it, my buddy built up a 94 integra... dart block, cp pistons, eagle rods ect.. and he didnt really do any measurements including the oil bearing clearances! Well about 3k miles after the build i guess it started knocking... cause was the middle journal had way to low of clearance and also one rod bearing clearance was off... well i guess you learn from your mistakes.. the fun part was plastigauging all the mains and rods while the engine was still in the car...

  • bad ass man, I am currently building a 4g64with a 4g63 evo8 head for a 3g, can't say its taken me 10 minutes lol, but seriously awesome...DSM's are the best, miss my GSX...r.i.p.

  • i gotta do this with my 6-bolt build. Songs please?

  • Fuckin Greatt Video lovee it i need to get my motor Rebuilt in my GST i just installed a fully built stage 2 Transmission with a LSD from Team ripp and now i spun a bearing and i never evan got to put my car on the road yet its a Dragg

  • that is so fuckin cool :|

  • Well I would like to know how long this motor held up. Didn't look to me like the guy used any kind of plastiguage for bearing clearances. Other than that awesome. This vid is actually informative for me doing my build.

I just wish you would have recorded startup.

  • plastigauge is for morons. mic everything out and do the math. otherwise plastigauge is just used to make sure there is in fact some clearence and not entirely too much. like a go-no go gauge. definately not the end all be all of building a motor.

  • most people have a better chance fucking up mic everything than plastigauge. It is very accurate if nothing is out of round that is and very simple and easy to use.

  • exactly. plastiguage wont tell you out of round either. if you cant operate a mic with precision and reliability you have absolutely no business building an engine. its that simple.

  • true dat yo.

  • so dumb question: what is a mic?

  • so dumb question: what is a mic?

  • "micrometer" its a measuring tool that kinda looks like a C clamps and most can measure to a thousandth of an inch and some car measure to a ten thousandth of an inch, there are english and metric ones and also digital ones

  • How many hours were into that?

  • cool

  • i hear i just got my gst and im sure i can get up to 300hp wit about 2k unlike my crazy friend he dropped about 6k in a srt4 only hittin like 410hp on race gas i jus lol
