i think strida will be more usefull in road, because the body is totally and really same with normal bike, but a-bike it's like otopet because the wheels is so small and the speed is more slowly tha strida. however, the basic function from the bike is make it easy as transportation and make it time be more effective. :)
Al parecer es mas comoda la bicicleta Strida ya que A-bike tiene problemas con los lomos o con las subidas por el tamaño des sus ruedas, en cambio Strida se asemeja mas a una bicicleta convencional... Por ahora me quedo con Strida
Somebody works with Clive Sinclair, then has differences and decides to go out on his own. Sounds a lot like Chris Curry did when going off to start Acorn...
OMG! It's the "5th gear" tv show template. The hosts look, move and sound the same. Don't tell me all the shows are like this. Isn't John from 5th gear?
@daedalx no its a different guy but they are eerily simiar aren't they? i swear when they want to move the format onto a new subject they just clone up a new set of presenters.
After watching a young man on a "Razor"-type scooter go sprawling in middle of the street during our Independence Day parade here when the front wheel hit a rather small hole in the pavment, I think I'd choose the larger wheels of the Strida, even if it weighs a bit more.
I'm going to get one someday, maybe by the end of this year or early next year. Oh, I didn't say which one, I want the Strida. It is quite expensive thats why I'm holding off. It is 800usd. The most appealing to me about the Strida than any other folding bikes is the "strolling" part when it is folded. You can drag it by wheels when not in used. Other folding bikes including the Abike, you'd have to carry it. I'm doing a lot of research on the Strida. Any tips-please hit me up. tnx
The advantage of the Strida is it rolls when folded - so you never have to carry it, also the efficient belt drive means no oil or grease. Dahon make great bikes and one day they will add these features too.
@SatanSucks .. Really ? ..... I've seen Dahons Chain protector - like were used to use on kids bikes and BMX bikes about 20 yrs ago. But not seen belt drive (at least not on production bikes). Making Dahon bikes (and the many look-a-likes) 'roll when folded', would be much easier if the wheels came together when folded, and they had a suitable handle to hold.
the only way would use the abike is in the back of my car for an emergency.
the strida looks much more comfortable and efficient, and to me even seems more portable, because face it, no one is going to run a race with their bike, and rolling it is easy.
that said, i have a dahon that i would never give up, it is the best folding bike around because it is the most normal.
And yeah, i think strida is useful when you want to use it to transport from one place to another. A-bike is for short trips--I just bought mine to ride around campus.
He's like a rubbish version of Ricky Gervais. Christ, he couldn't even unfold the A Bike OR look where he was going. Considering how inept he is at both a) cycling b) navigation and c) remaining concentrated for more than 5 seconds, it's a wonder he actually even went near the park, let alone go past it.
'A' is for trips that could be walked. 10m, or 3, is more than you'll ever take it. 'S' Performance Kit: Folding handlebars & pedals; good for trunks & planes, not needed for stores & buses. A quicker setup without the 'PK'. 'S' is 'strollered' when folded, so 'A' feels heavier to carry. 'S' wheels:16",(not 10"), which have been proven to be as efficient as full-size wheels for any speeds below racing.
the whole point of the strida's it's long and thin when folded up so you don't carry it, you drag it. if she had dragged it around, she woldn't have had problems. also the A-bike takes about 20 seconds to unfold with practice, the strida takes about 3 as there's only 1 movement.
The A Bike seems like it would be pretty bumpy because of the small wheels. Also, it seems that it would be impossible to go across any rocky terrain or slightly raised surfaces like a drive way.

Why does she keep saying 20" wheels? Strida uses 16 inch wheels.
oldnewager 3 years ago
you mean 10in wheels? yeah i noticed that too. oh well no biggie

I think Strida wheels are 16"
sk8erboi600 2 years ago
I think Strida wheels are 16" with 18" wheels and even gears now as options.
sk8erboi600 2 years ago
yeah, right.. start unfolding the a-bike from inside the bag; it's not necessary, the advantages of the other bike are obvious.

each bike is made for different tasks.
'a bike' is ultra portable and light and ideal for SHORT trips from a bus or train trip to your workplace
strida is MUCH larger and really aimed for car/caravan/boat/campers users for longer distance get around on holiday
