  • This was a fantastic interview, very insightful, Julian really has matured and appears to be a great guy

  • Here, Julian looks more like Eric Clapton's offspring than John Lemmon's.

  • John was a great artists and a great person in many ways, but he sure dropped the ball in his relationship with Julian. Julian seems to be a son that any dad would just be thrilled to have, Dont understand the reluctance that seemed to paralyze John in finally making peace with his own son, and burying all the demons of the past. Perhaps that is the worst consequence that his killing brought, it ended the possibilty of this ever happenning.

  • Seems like Julian's mother did a hell of a job raising him. He always comes across as an intelligent guy. Very grounded and down to earth.

  • 1 dislike? I didn't know Yoko used YouTube.

  • @pajmf funny!

  • he just doesnt have it.

  • Good for you, Julian. As a long-time fan of both you and your father, I am so very glad to see you have reached a place of peace and forgiveness. It is one thing to sing about peace, and something even more to live it...

  • The following record is certainly wonderful!

  • I love his soul and artist...those that feel they need to speak negatively about this man and his family go away...those of us that have a peaceful heart don't need your snarky comments.... take your sarcastic views else where....your venom is sad and pitiful...go away you suck....

  • Forgiveness is a beautiful thing - nicely done Julian, God bless!

  • Julian is as open and genuine as a man can get. He is definitely his own man but I can't help seeing his father in his eyes...

  • @Nowhereman1055 Yes, and he raises his eyebrows just like his dad!

  • @nomenclayture I have recently taken interest in Julian's music career and his life philosophy...his father would be proud but from my personal observation I think any father would be...

  • @Nowhereman1055 Absolutely! I'm really impressed with him as a person and an artist. His mother did a great job raising him with strength and love. He's a very down-to-earth likeable wise man.

  • He is beautiful!

  • @dichroic101 He really is! :)

  • @IsItOnTab They are white....Please if you are criticising then make sense or don't say a fucking thing.

  • The timber and tone of his voice is very familiar.

  • Julian seems like a greatguy, he seems to be grateful for all he's been through. Such a humble soul.

  • It's great to see how well julian turned out. Very inspiring. Great interview.

  • a very observant grounded guy, nice with it as well.

  • he is a credit to his superior inate ability to implement critical thinking along with a deep spiritual awareness and compelling personable presence with his enduring adulation for his precious mother and his enduring compassion for a dad that lived as an adolecent renegade

  • for what its worth, best interviev ive seen in 40 yrs

  • He sounds so much like his dad, it's a tragedy that John never quite managed to finish making amends.

  • he has sorted everything out very well, i like him as a person and artist.

  • he sounds and looks more like his dad then Sean ,,Sean has yoko in him poor kid

  • If I werent already married I think I would love to be Mrs Julian Lennon haha dream on... yes I will thank you

  • Hey Jules, don't make it bad, take a sad song and make it better!

  • It's good to see that Julian has come to a point in his life where he feels comfortable with himself and what he's doing. Time has certainly given him a more mature and relaxed perspective on life He's already outlived his father by several years. In fact, he'll be 48 on 4/8/2012. Good for him.

  • @JT8800 No, he'll be 49. He was born in 1963.

  • @GRAMAGRUNT --I stand corrected. Here on Mars, we have an outdated math system. Thanks for the correction. If it's worth noting, although Paul was initially sympathetic towards Julian, hence; 'Hey Jude', he seemed to fade out of Julian's life, which is too bad. George and Ringo were apparently kinder towards him, especially as a teenager. Cynthia wrote a book 'ATwist of Lennon', that sheds a lot more light on what her life with both John and Julian was like. Pretty surprising tales...

  • @JT8800 Cynthia Lennon wrote a 2nd book about John Lennon simply called "John." I've read both books and the 2nd is much more honest. I highly recommend it!

  • Julian is so very under rated as an artist. He excels where few can truly go. Look at Julian holistically. He was basically abandoned by his father and more recently his father's co-workers, Paul and Ringo. He had a smash album in 1984 and then several songs that surprised many in their brilliance after.

    He is his own man.

  • @tommyrock69 Indeed. Julian a wonderful musician and artist in his own right. He has his own identity and has a beautiful soul. If you don't mind me saying, I don't think Paul and Ringo abandoned him. Maybe they're all busy with their own lives and schedules. I'm sure Julian does find some time to talk to them. And how could they forget about him? I bet they still adore him.

  • @tommyrock69 Then snorted all of his millions back to poverty. I think some guy named John Lennon did much better without a famous father. And he was screwed by his mother and father.

  • I think Julian looks more like John in his anthology days when he looked healthier.

  • he sounds alot like Paul.....

  • I have pretty much heard all the songs & intreviews from Julian,Sean and Yoko.

All spoken from there own mouth.

I really have to ask, why does the media give any attention to "YOKO"?

Just because you marry or make love with someone does not make you a musical artist. She is a joke! Julian is "Gods gift to a horrible life of fame' I'm sure your dad is very proud.

  • @JLJS060504 Absolutely agree with you.....I don't hate Yoko but when it comes to musical expression I don't want to hear ANYTHING from her......interviews about her life with John or Sean I welcome, makes me feel that much closer to John's life. Julian has come to peace with himself in regards to his father....I hope Sean does the same.

  • @JLJS060504

To each their own, but because you do not care for Yoko's music or art does not mean its crap. Personally, Yoko and her reaction to form and warping of sound has always been a big influence on me. Granted it is not pop music, but that does not make it any less important or interesting to some people. She has been a profound and challenging artist for what 50 years now? One of my favorites.

  • you can tell it still hurts him.. as it rightfully should.

  • I admire Cynthia. It's like what Julian said, after all the stuff she had been through she was able to stand tall. She is a strong woman and raised her son well.

  • he is not a genius...please...you wouldnt even of heard of him..if it wasnt for his dad..its as simple as that...

  • He's a genius. Like his Dad. Happy for him.

  • Julian Lennon was among the top 5 best concerts I've ever attended, and I have attended hundreds. He has a LOT of both energy and talent.

  • Julian is, without a doubt, a beautiful soul! ~ Peace and love to all! Xxx

  • I think Seans music is rather good, some are not my favorites but some I like very much- i think both boys are talented, I remember listening to Julian in the 80's on records and now mp3s I enjoy Seans and his as well. I dont like Yoko's it does nothing for me- but Jullians and Seans are great each in their own right- one isnt another, and they are not their father either but you can see and hear hints of him.

  • is it just me, or is he kind of like a British Bill Pullman???

  • I think Cynthia did a great job raising this fine ,well spoken, and thoughtful man. kudos to Cyn and to Julian for for working through painful issues to a point of understanding

  • Julian is a wonderful, natural musician...and Sean, with much study and hard work, is evolving into one, after some years of silliness. Julian's being on the outside was a creative cocoon ..and wellspring.

  • Julian is a wonderful, natural musician...and Sean, with much study and hard work, is evolving into one, after some years of silliness.

  • As much as I loved John, I agree he was not a good father to Julian. The man Julian is should be credited to his mother, Cynthia. I believe Julian has taken into consideration where John was in his life at the time of his birth. I'm sure that John felt remorse for the way he neglected Julian. He obviously grew up and treated his second son with the attention and love a child should have. Julian is a wonderful man. He is also very talented, not only as a singer, but an artist, as well.

  • they both look like john in their separate ways. well thats what i've always thought.

  • "What a credit to his father. What a lovely and honest man"

I love Lennon as much as anyone, but I call it as I see it - he was a total prick to his son til it was almost too late. Julian is hardly a credit to his father - if you want to applaud the person who raised him, thank his mother.

  • Everyone else has said such really good things, that I agree with. So, as a language nerd, I'd like to make an observation about something totally unrelated to his talent, smarts, etc. I find it fascinating that his voice--the phrasing, word choice, etc--sounds a lot like...Paul McCartney! I walked away from my computer while this was playing and I thought, "God, he doesn't sound like his dad. He sounds like McCartney!" Anyway, he's an admirable person.

  • @34airflow I thought the exact same thing! Close your eyes and it's Paul.

  • I have to say I admire Julian Lennon for his intellect..Once he saw the examples of the situation his father was in he grew to understand. He is a very down to earth fellow. What a great sense of awareness.I think it is what we all need to survive but I don;t think many of us really grasp it.It was a year ago tonight that my mother died. It's the same thing.Understanding and going on.God Bless My Mother and Julian's Dad

  • @GregDrayGregDray I'm so sorry to hear about your loss that happened a year ago. God Bless your mother and you for staying so strong.

  • @Gabreya Gabreya Thank You for your kind words

  • @GregDrayGregDray You're very welcome, Greg. :)

  • am sure john would be and is very proud of his son whos a master in many crafts his photos are wonderful and his music is = what can only be talent respected in all lifes experiences nice interview honest to the truth

  • What a great interview. Julian comes across as an amazing person.

  • What a credit to his father. What a lovely and honest man.

  • @kesselaar21 No - he's a credit mainly to his mother, who brought him up ... John had nothing to do with Jules's upbringing after he left Cyn for Yoko.

  • @kesselaar21 Actually it's a tribute to his mum, who did the job of raising him. He is amazing given what he has had to live through.

  • @kesselaar21 More credit to his Mother I would think?

  • Class act!

  • There are some many times when I feel the interviewer is really Stephen Colbert acting as a straight interview. He kinda looks like Colbert whoever he is... It's funny when you watch it as this in mind. An old Colbert acting normal interviewing Jules. lol

  • Sean looks like his father when he was older. Julian looks like John when he was young. They are part of john, different, but similar

  • Damn. Props to Cynthia for raising him with such a great positive attitude. He could've so easily gone down the wrong path with the way his childhood was.

  • He's grown into a very thoughtful and perceptive man. Finding the ability to forgive others is so important in one's life. It isn't easy and I admire Julian for learning to live with regrets but without the anger.

  • That was a good interview.

  • looks good

  • "you can't say these things without knowing me" EXACTLY, TAKE THAT WORLD.! stupid media..wishes they were julian..

  • hey people..this is not a Julian versus Sean competition. Why don't we just judge them both on their individual merits instead of continuing this old argument which for the most part is just a continuation of old prejudices. His photography is amazing.Well done Julian.

  • Damn I thought I was looking into a mirror he looks so much like his dad

  • What an amazing man he has become.

  • DAMN. I thought this was going to be Julian and Sean performing Come Together.

  • @TheRoyalBreton That would be a dream come true for me. That would be wonderful for John's two sons to perform "Come Together".

  • @Gabreya Oh Please! A Dream Come True??? Have you no conception of how absolutely embarrassing that would be? I'm sure John would have never suggested it to them. About the best cover was Aerosmith being that Steve Tyler was such a big fan. Sean & Julian? No, No, No! Silly dream which fortunately will never happen. (Whew!) :)

  • @Ghstwn It was just a thought. I agree with you about the Aerosmith cover but I was just saying. Still, it be nice if Julian and Sean would perform at least a song together. What could be wrong with one song by the Lennon Brothers? Again, just a thought.

  • @Gabreya Fair enough. I guess there are just too many others that seem much to focused on dreams, and can't grasp realities. I jumped on you a bit too hard. Umm,... I'll blame it on cooffee. LOL! Please continue with your thoughts. My Bad on this one. K? ;)

  • @Ghstwn Oh, that's all right. No harm done. And yes, dreams can sometimes be a gateway to La La Land that you have keep your feet on the ground. If you know what I mean. ;)

  • @Gabreya I would like to see Julian with Dhanni Harrison.

  • @SuzLa1 Me too! Now THAT would be amazing. They're both talented and are true artists. Very much like their fathers. Especially since they resemble them to no end and HOTT. *sigh*

  • Great interview...he really has his shit together...

  • Live in the present Julian, the precious present moments you will appreciate sometimes much later after tomorrow which will become a time of "NOW' as well!

    <3

  • "Just get on with gettin' on" AWESOME statement. I love his comments about the music industry and the big companies and independants and how he wants to get his music "direct to the fans".

Plus his comments about how he is past his resentment of his father and understands why he left show what a truely intelligent and compassionate man he is.

  • Well spoken.

  • 14:45 scary shit info. but still pretty cool

  • @illovedinkiwinky Very scary indeed. Even more so than the Bruce Lee/Jason Lee thing.

  • Both Lennons are the spitting image of their father.

  • Who the fuck is this ridiculous interviewer? This inept, clueless bloody prick is so outclassed by Julian it's almost difficult to watch. I grew up with the Beatles, they are the soundtrack of my life and the greatest band of all time. Julian, your music is fabulous, keep making more.....mate, we love you.

  • youtube, if you're gonna give me an add, you might as well make it fucking work

  • @SrvSlash69 IKR!?!?

  • I would love to have a Guiness with Julian. or 10. He seems like a 'dude' that you could chill with. Like his old man. Rest in Peace.

  • It's so weird LOL. His singing voice sounds like John, but when he's just talking he sounds like Paul. Love you Jules.

  • I do agree. I always felt sorry for Julian as he grew up. More so now that he is a man. Not that it was on purpose. I always thought that he was a talent on his own right and not fair to compare him to his father. But people do, and some times can be cruel about it. Good luck to you Julian. You will be ok.

  • he kinda sounds like paul to me

  • @grungeobsessed YEs, I agree ...isn't that strange?

  • John is your dad, your family, he made you, kiss his ass world, I LOVE YOU JULIAN, your dad is posted in my home and always has been i LOVE YOU BOTH

Julian, you are a love, has the world forgotten that he is your father, and you are a human being, a normal person who has a mom and dad, f off everyone, what an amazing son John made Rest in Peace John I will always LOVE you

  • John is your dad, your family, he made you, kiss his ass world, I LOVE YOU JULIAN, your dad is posted in my home and always has been i LOVE YOU BOTH

  • John is your dad, your family, he made you, kiss his ass world, I LOVE YOU JULIAN, your dad is posted in my home and always has been i LOVE YOU BOTH

  • Many years ago it came to me it'd be so cool if.....Julian could have collaborated with George, Paul, and Ringo....if only for a studio album. Well, a nation or world wide series of concerts would've been great also, but George Harrison was against that at all times of course. I wonder if the next generation of kids of the Beatles could get together to make a top album. I'm not sure, but it could be great or at least interesting.

  • @manoffaith3112 we could get Ringo's son, Paul's son(the blonde one), dhani harrison, and julian lennon

  • Julian you are an inspiration. I loved your dad's music and I know his heart is just busting out with pride!

  • Julian Lennon, a real gentleman.

  • It seems he forgave his dad shortly after his 'dad' , father-in-law, Robert Bayliss was convicted of molesting 6&8 year old neighbor girls in 2004. That's his fiancee Lucy Bayliss's dad. He tried to deny it but fortunately they video taped the molestation. He rubbed their vagina's, stuck his tongue in their mouths, and other things. It was pretty bad. He spent years in prison. John Lennon didn't look too bad after that.

  • These fuckin ads take forever to load.

  • Julian is a complete class act, start to finish. Kudos to Cynthia for keeping Jules in a level-headed world, despite all the chaos. It's so great to see the bond that Julian and Cynthia have...it trumps all the stupid questions people ask Jules about John...it's clear he made his own path, without John (and I'm a big John fan!), and with the support of his wonderful mum.

  • Gotta love JulIian - the way he looks and talks. It's John but it's not John.

  • I think John would be so proud of Julian. He's been able to do what John never could.. forgive.

  • His mom must have been mistaken because he looks every bit like his father. Sean favors but no Julian is the dead ringer.

  • His mom must have been mistaken because he looks every bit like his father.

  • Julian: the energy coming from you during this interview is so exciting & fresh. You threw yourself into the lion’s den & came out shinning. Just experiencing this interview on New Year’s Eve has propelled me into wanting to do the same.Thank you for being you. Thanks for inspiring me-I live in the shadow of NYC,- Philadelphia-an hour away.Happy New Year’s to you & your mother. Charles

  • I loved this

  • I think the best thing anyone could say is that had John lived on he would be so proud of "BOTH" his son's and there accomplishments.

Peace & Love to them both.

  • He grew up to be a very well-rounded, talented guy. People are always ready to criticize John, but we should realize that he was making a great effort to bond with his son when his life was taken from him. He was 40 but it took him time to recognize the importance of fatherhood. Although Julian has shared in the past, he seems more hesitant about being too critical of his father now. So I don't see why others feel they have the right to. The only people who should are the ones involved.

  • RIP John

  • JULIAN HAS INDEED ARRIVED AND RELEASED THE BAGGAGE THAT CAME WITH BEING THE BEATLE'S FORGOTTEN SON! GREAT TO SEE AND GREAT INTERVIEW!

  • I am getting so tired of the loud volume of this endless advertisment.

I hand it to Julian and his mother Cynthia for always conducting themselves beautifully in spite of all they have to deal with. I do think less of John for how he conducted himself towards them. So happy that Julian came into his own! Such an eye for form! Beautiful...

  • @QueenBeatlesWings I did it and all it did was re-start the ad. Hmmmm.

  • @Tones4me1 darn! I tried it too and the ad companies on newer videos changed it. )-: GRR

  • @QueenBeatlesWings Well, nice try on your part anyway. Thanks.

  • julian, you are a gift.

    period.

  • Jesus is Satan's relative, you illuminatti fucks

  • @scob62 There is no relation between Jesus, the son of God and satan,, an angel! That is a LIE plain and simple. Are you a mormon? Satan is an angel, fallen. Jesus the son of God, Got it? No relation whatsoever. You are sadly very deceived.

  • @livnfree930

Funny, you telling one he's "sadly deceived". All the best.

  • Hey Jules we are all proud of you.

  • Its hard to believe that Jullian is nearly 50.He does not look it.

  • wow, this is incredible..love the last few mins, especially.

  • I disagree uaz31.Julian has had it worse than others because he has been endlessly compared to his father and expected to be his father. If he sounds like his father he is cucified and if he doesn't he is cucified, he can never win and nobody but Sean can understand this.As Robertwgreaves has said Julian is very talented and his being the "son of" has worked against him.

  • On the contrary, Julian's musical talent is considerable and well developed. I think his being the son of John worked against him. Too many wanted him to be an extension of the Beatles and others disliked him because he had a voice naturally close to that of his dad.

I wished we could have had more from his music career.

  • @RobertWGreaves I agree with you. This must have been frustrating for Julian. So glad you had a natural talent for art and has a new career avenue in his own right.

  • @RobertWGreaves

There is actually quite a lot of Julian's work to choose from. I own all five of his albums. They tried to make him into a pop star right out of the gate. It just didn't suit him... but, he's an artist in his own right. He's just not a super celebrity or anything. Personally, I think he's lucky in that respect.

  • @RobertWGreaves -- Totally agree with you. Julian Lennon never got his due as a musician, really. I still love Valotte, the song and the whole album. Also really love How Do You Sleep, such a cool tune.

  • @jdarrah17 -- Just realized what I wrote. I should clarify that How Do You Sleep is of course by John Lennon. Valotte is my fave by Julian and I love that entire album by him. How Do You Sleep my fave by John. Don't Let Me Down is my fave by Beetles.

  • @jdarrah17 -- Holy cow, and now I did a retarded typo on the Beatles' name in my last post. Ugh, I'm gonna go make dinner...

  • @RobertWGreaves I agree...He looks like him, sounds like him, moves like him...has musical greatness like him. It's a gift and curse all in one. I love that he wanted to make it on his own music, NOT his dad's. I think Sean milks his name...

  • @RobertWGreaves

    Agreed

  • @RobertWGreaves Well said my friend, Sean hurts my ears Julian is amazing -- watch Whaledreamer!! He is a wonderful film crafter!
