@boblazar2001 I agree that Kelley *grossly* misunderstood the source material; however, I am equally skeptical of Whedon: his style/tone of writing, while appropriate for the Buffy setting, might not do Diana justice in translating her back onto the TV screen. Would he have done better than Kelley did? Probably. But would it have been good *enough*? I, for one, am not so sure...
its just to bad that nbc axed this ... the execs never even gave it a chance threw them out when they tried to turn in the pilot. so sadly this will never see the light of day
Ok love that they kept the music but she looks like a drag queen when she's in costume. Thats very late. She looks mean too. Linda Carter was pretty as her self and the character. My advice go back to drawing board or get Paris Hilton to play the character.
Frankly, I think Rosario Dawson would make an excellent Wonder Woman. Also, the reason this didn't get picked up wasn't because "people already decided it was going to be bad," it was a shitty pilot. the action was okay, but Wonder Woman straight up murders a guy halfway through (a fucking GUARD! not even a real "Villain"), everybody knows what her secret identity is, she runs a damn COSMETIC AND TOY company.
Also, despite being "created by David E. Kelly" the show has such a tenuous grasp on the reality of American law that it makes "Car 54 Where Are You?" look like "COPS". While I know it's fantasy and doesn't have to be "CSI," the producers chose to not only make it a major theme of the show, they fail to do it convincingly.
this pilot felt like it was in the middle of its 3rd season or something,it didnt have an intro or a backstory for the people who arent familiar with where she came from,I read loads of comics and ive never touched a wonder woman comic or really read about her,this pilot threw you in the deep end

Bad casting there. And did they really use the original theme tune? Glad it fell through as it was a horrendous mistake.

This could have been a really cool series. The action scenes are different from when Lynda played WW BUT it is a different time. I agree that Lynda did a great job as WW. People have already made up their minds that it was gonna be bad just like lilblkboi said. No one wants to give another actress the chance to play WW!!!! I personally grew up watching WW and would love to see a modern series.
@AngeloftheC I get what you are trying to say, but for the real problem with the scenes that were leaked (and the script, *particularly* the original, *HORRIBLY* flawed one) is that they made it clear that only the superficial aspects of the character (however updated to include some aspects of the past two decades or so) were used, while other aspects were inappropriately played up (Diana would *never* casually kill someone the way she did when breaking into the one facility...).
"Make the Axis fold?" I know that's the lyrics to the first season, Lynda Carter WW, so don't mention it! But it sounds weird with modern cars and Starbuck's in the background.

If everyone stopped focusing on the outfit for one moment, we would see it's not entirely the staff's fault. Besides the 70s tv show Wonder Woman has not had any other live-action adaptions while Superman has quite a few and Batman has too many (along with the animation series). It's not just about the wrong people involve in her story, it's because fans have standards TOO high because she's a female superhero and an iconic one at that.

@LBF522 It's looks like it was bought at Party City or some other Halloween store. The gold pieces were thick and plasticy, the costume was too shiny of a material. They should/could have done it more realistically. Personally I think they should have drawn more from the greek/roman aspect of her origin...or googled the hundreds of alternative costumes made by fans that look 130% better

I really wish they had given this show a chance. I remember watching Linda Carter as a little girl and Adrianne's the first actress who looked like she would have done a decent job. Plus I was hoping that Linda could play Wonder Woman's mother Hipppolyta.
First, Wonder Woman flies with or without a jet. Second, she can beat any human with her big toe while doing her nails, and third this hurts to watch.
The problem was the script. They could have gotten Joss Wheldon (buffy) to write and direct it, but nooo they chose whoever (who wrote and directed Ally)...that says it all. Saw the first episode and it SUCK!
i think the new version is very promising, perhaps the public was more used to WW wearing one-piece-bathing suit-like costume than the series' substance. i hope i'm wrong.
All the backlash the series was getting from it's "fans" before it even launched would scare any broadcasting distributor away. In my opinion, the pilot was doomed even before it was screened.
The pilot wasn't terrible. It might not be something I would personally watch on a weekly basis, but it wasn't as horrible as everyone says. Palicki was surprisingly good in the role, also, realism and plausibility played a big role in the storyline. I think a huge reason why the series didn't take off was because 99% of it's fanbase already purposed it within themselves that they wouldn't support the series, no matter what.

I can see why it didn't make it. If I was a big-wig president of the studio I would first demand the outfit be changed. I then would order a recast and a better fight scene. This just equates to a drunken street brawl after hours with a looney bin escapee who thinks she's wonder woman when really she's all drugged up on illegal steroids and cocaine, that she bought from the local pimp at the corner.

She could be if she was handled correctly. She was awesome in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, and in the Wonder Woman animated movie. She's a character people take for granted and think of as cheesy, but people thought the same about Batman 'til Tim Burton came along and showed a mainstream film audience that he could be dark and adult and cool. She just needs the right people to handle her, and David E. Kelley isn't one of them.
If they would had picked a better WW , costume and included her transformation spin from Diana Prince to the Amazon Princess, then maybe it would have more interest

This video is made up of scenes from the pilot episode. I guess that the TV network executives weren't impressed by the pilot episode which is why Wonder Woman 2011 didn't "take off"/ didn't get the support to be turned into a regular TV series.

Umm, I thought her costume could use a little more work - specifically, her
breastplate. The "eagle" "dove" "gold bird" looked too 3-d, that is to say,
"gravitas", "heavy". I do not think you would want children to get the
impression that her top could fall down, for that would be the exact opposite
of what Wonder Woman is all about. "Reveal less, wonder more: be wonderful."
So, yeah, her breastplate should be more 2-D. But overall, the accessorizing

Maybe it was cancelled because there was a lot of "infighting" about this
TV series which was certain to turn into a billion dollar enterprise when you
consider that because of the internet, Hollywood now caters to a potential
global audience, where many speak English, or know English by the time

The old theme song, from the Linda Carter 'Wonder Woman' evoked the
themes associated with the early dc comics origins of Wonder Woman,
namely her war against the nazis (and their "master race" religion), and
later her support of the feminist movement of the 70s... But that song does
not fit the "vibe" or zeitgeist of a modern retelling of the Wonder Woman myth.
.. 'gone, gone, gone' by Plant and Strauss might work with this video of the
new Wonder Woman (Adrianna Palicki), or "no lyrics".

This never made it to TV?!! What were those executives smoking? This show would've been a monster hit. It would've been a fresh new approach to the character. Everyone's got to get over Lynda Carter being Wonder Woman. Lynda Carter is the past. Time for someone new to play the character.

@mrdudelz Agreed but not her. Some things don't need to be rebooted. If we let this go, next the hollywood morons will be trying to get Ryan Gosling cast as the Six Million Dollar Man. Some things are better left in the past. Best chance for a movie was in the 1970's when we did Chris Reeves as Superman. Best chance now has passed ...although Katherine Zeta Jones might have been able to pull it off. Sorry kids--no go!

I really wish they had given this show a chance. I remember watching Linda Carter as a little girl and Adrianne's the first actress who looked like she would have done a decent job. Plus I was hoping that Linda could play Wonder Woman's mother Hipppolyta.

The problem was the script. They could have gotten Joss Wheldon (buffy) to write and direct it, but nooo they chose whoever (who wrote and directed Ally)...that says it all. Saw the first episode and it SUCK!

All the backlash the series was getting from it's "fans" before it even launched would scare any broadcasting distributor away. In my opinion, the pilot was doomed even before it was screened.

The pilot wasn't terrible. It might not be something I would personally watch on a weekly basis, but it wasn't as horrible as everyone says. Palicki was surprisingly good in the role, also, realism and plausibility played a big role in the storyline. I think a huge reason why the series didn't take off was because 99% of it's fanbase already purposed it within themselves that they wouldn't support the series, no matter what.

I can see why it didn't make it. If I was a big-wig president of the studio I would first demand the outfit be changed. I then would order a recast and a better fight scene. This just equates to a drunken street brawl after hours with a looney bin escapee who thinks she's wonder woman when really she's all drugged up on illegal steroids and cocaine, that she bought from the local pimp at the corner.

wow,I thought it got cancelled because it tanked but by what I see it did look pretty awesome plus she was wearing NO PANTS!! she got the outfit exactly right.there have been 22000+ viewings of this video so far,Im sure if everyone sends the network a letter they will pick this up.It looks like its wortyh watching

She could be if she was handled correctly. She was awesome in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, and in the Wonder Woman animated movie. She's a character people take for granted and think of as cheesy, but people thought the same about Batman 'til Tim Burton came along and showed a mainstream film audience that he could be dark and adult and cool. She just needs the right people to handle her, and David E. Kelley isn't one of them.

Nah, we need another Lucy Lawless. Someone who could play a badass women believably but still be sexy. Evangeline Lily is too pretty and petite to be taken seriously as an Amazon. You know who could play an Amazon? Gina Torres. She could play one of the others bsides Diana.

This video is made up of scenes from the pilot episode. I guess that the TV network executives weren't impressed by the pilot episode which is why Wonder Woman 2011 didn't "take off"/ didn't get the support to be turned into a regular TV series.

@toyo925 When will people learn that not even comic books are faithful to the comic books? Everything is so governed by writer whim that anyone who cares needs multiverses to keep it sorted out. So it never rubs me wrong if a TV show or movie uses creative license.
