  • do you need rpsma-f to ipex cable to connect the antenna?

  • @asablic i bought a kit on ebay... it contained a cable with the necessary connectors i guess rpsma-f is the connector on the antenna, ipex would then be the connector on the router board... so the cable was ready to use ... basically i think the answer to your question is 'yes' ;)

  • whats about the costs of the new spares ?

  • Man, now that is a badass antenna, do you you need a special weapon licence for it? ;)

Anyway good and detailed video instruction, but I am not going to mod my Fritz!Box, since it is working perfectly with the standart antenna. But why is your connection so bad? Is you Fritz!Box in the basement or what? What is you distance to the box, mine is not higher than 15 meters through 2 non-bearing walls.

    P.S.: I have the same Fritz!Box 7170 WiFi router.

  • @d1oftwins yes, it is in the basement... i live in a wooden house with concrete basement. first i had the box on the 2nd floor but i needed to rearrange some things :) now it is in the basement and reception was bad. however, that antenna also did not get it as it was before :) i now have a 7270 and it got slightly better... meanwhile i did install DLAN AVplus 200 Mbit powerline adapters... those work very well ...

  • @tglynx the 7170 is now used as access point only.... connected to the 7270 using powerline ;)

  • @tglynx

Oh, didn't read that answer. I am a bit confused by Youtube late comment structuring.

That idea was to obvious, wasn't it? ^^

Well than you have no problems anymore with you WLAN I guess. :)

  • @tglynx

Hey, I use 200Mbit powerline adapters too. :D I used WLAN for a while, it works fine, but I switched to PL adapter though. Works like a charm. But the ping gets a little bit higher.

But why don't you use a WLAN repeater instead of modding you antenna? Use your PL adapters as bridge to a central point of your house and than put in a repater, so the concrete basement is not a problem anymore, not?

  • great

  • hey, ich suche das 2. lied aus dem video.

    wer weiß wies heißt?

  • Servus! Das ist 'The Letter' von 'Dynamo 5'...

  • das video ist sehr gut very good

  • i could do an instructional video about the volume controls on the different operating systems for such swing dweeps ;)

  • I got this same Fritzbox 7170 and I like it very much, except that its WLAN-antenna is fixed. It's the only thing by now that I think is bad about this box. Generally speaking, all AVM stuff is good.

Where did you get (buy) that cable connector that goes inside the box.

Would like to mod my own fritzbox but don't now where to get that connector?

  • hi ;) see above... you can buy the kits on ebay and some small webshops... just search google... let me know if you cant find it ;)

  • thanks for your input... the fritzBox antenna is not soldered inside. i know linksys and 3com but the fritz!box is also a great device. i need it to use fritz!mini which is a wifi telephone which can also make fixed line calls using the fritz!box so it is not only a wifi router, it is also a telephone system...

  • its not sold inside ?

this kind of wifi antenna are not good you need a yagi wifi or at leat 20 db antenna its much better you can sold a cable directly into the board then add it by bnc cable -if you want good router go on linksys they are the best for range and fast to or 3com

  • there are kits available on ebay (i got mine there if i remeber correctly / but i am not sure) ... also you can search google... i suggest to search with german terms as the router is most common in germany i believe ;)
