wow that was boring as hell...i understand oro has a certain style that involves alot of double jumping and evading n stuff...but still that was kinda dull....
High level mid tier battles (Or any high level battles that don't involve Ken, Yun and Chun-Li) are very interesting to watch. This battle was pretty neat, you could almost feel the tension between the two players.

He is high level because he is safe and easy to use. He's basically like oro but with training wheels. They make really simple to use for new people who don't know how to play.

um i'm speaking in terms of tier, Ryu is higher because he's super simple, safe, strong, easy to use, where as Oro has similar moveset but is exact opposite; complex, unsafe, weak, hard to use, etc. What I was trying to get is YOU ARE WRONG RYU IS FOR NOOBS!
Its because everything that he does, Ken does better, with more priority and more damage.
He also has less options than the people better than him. Reliant on knockdowns and good guesses more often than others to create his own options and doesn't pressure as well.
if he's "For noobs" like you say so and he's safe and easy to use. Why isn't ryu winning anything that matters in 3s compared to Yun/Chun/Ken?
at least Oro has unblockables and Tengu to give him some sort of pressure/options
I think Truendymion is trying to say is that Ryu is noob-friendly as in easy to learn hard to master. He is not saying Anyone that uses Ryu is a noob.

Ryu isn't hard to use, per se. He's a great character for beginners as he has all he fundamentals that starting players should know in order to get good at 3S.
However, it's hard to win with him because he doesn't have the options Y/C/K and the high-mid characters have. Many Ryu matches will be based on either parrying like a madman or REALLY careful poking and zoning, like in this video. Ryu's a good character, it's just other characters are better.

Yeah they do suck hard. You have to be extremely good to win with those characters. Although they do have a few favorable matchups, most of them don't match up well against the top tier characters.
How many people have you seen USE her? Anyway, she's not so great a character (especially since every good Elena plays Chun) but she's definitely a good way to counter-pick Oro. If tournaments were all-oro, she'd win a LOT more.
Really! I'd call Oro/Ryu a 5-5. Ryu doesn't really have anything that consistently beats Oro, and vice versa. Ryu's Shoryuken is an easy parry and his overheads are readible which hurts his 50-50.
Elena ducks these pokes: far MP, MK, and HK; and she can stuff them with c.strong, leading to super. Juggling her with EX tengu is weird. She's hard to cross up, and hard to corner. If you ask me, fighting Elena is a lot like fighting Chun.
EVERYONE in this game is hard to master... there is no easy option considering you could be a shit player with the top 3!

OK please explain to me why Ryu is hard to use. Is it his high priority? His simple yet strong combos? His decent reach? What is it?

@myrmidon2537: Ryu's s. mk is nice though.

@myrmidon2537 Ryu is probably the hardest person to master in this game. You see the pro's play okay with ryu.

I wish it wasn't so but its true. I'm a huge Oro fan, he's one of my fav SF characters ever, but he's total garbage against Ryu.
truendymion 2 years ago
Yet he doesn't sucks. Or if he sucks, then Akuma, Urien, Ryu, Ibuki, Elena, Necro, Alex, Remy, Q and Hugo are all busy sucking.

I'm an oro and I don't have much trouble with Ryu at all. Characters to fear, I say Chun-Li, Yun, or Elena.

I guess you haven't fought good Ryu? Elena? Really?

Also, why the hating on Elena? She's about as good as Ryu.

Ryu can deal damage so much easier than Oro. Oro can be punished so easily.
