Dementium The Ward DS Review

Seriously? The worst thing about it is the save system? The chapters are so short you don't need more saves. The game is dull and repetitive. It's linear, no secret areas or anything. Your visibility is awful. You can't see shit without the flashlight and you have to constantly switch between it and a weapon. The enemies aren't scary at all, annoying sure, but not scary. Sure, it does have some good moments but there really aren't a lot of them. Though it is nice to see a mature game on a DS. :D

XD. and @ThEyeCon2, yes he does lol but thats not really a bad thing. one of my best friends is jewish, and thats how we became friends. i was like i blame the jews (not seriusly, but for humor in Social Studies when we were reviewing the 1940s) and he got pissed at me. I felt soo bad after that. But we are cool as shit now. He gets ALOT of hot girls too jtlyk. And hes pretty cool. About Dementium. This is probly my FAVORITE game as of now. Its amazing. 96/100. Bad audio tho.

good review. the only thing i noticed you messed up on, was you said you couldnt save whenever you want. well, i dont know about the actually game, but i downloaded this game onto my AceKard2i (a Nintendo DS emulator that plays downloaded games) and you can pause by pressing Start, then save whenever you want. Maybe the actual game (not the rom) didnt have that option, but i know it works, and thats all i do to save. Anyways, good video. Take care and God bless.

its a really dark game, and you have to stop using your flashlight to attack. Theres lots of enemys that pop up out of no where, and thy look pretty creepy, but its only about 1/3 of the way through the game that you start to expect it. So go ahead and get it

the end boss is quite hard the sniper and the revoler are the best weapons to use on him. its a exellent game.

Good review, Ryan. I just got it a few days ago and am still pretty early into the game, but I'm loving it. You should try playing with headphones. I found it much creepier with them on. The music is excellent.

I'm confused tho, everyone says the save system is bad, but when I play, every room I enter, the game says it's saving. I can even choose save & quit from the pause screen, and I'll start from the room I saved in, not the beginning of the level. Is your version like this too?

and about the save system...you must not live in the U.S.A. or you have a foreign copy of the game, because Renegade Kid was able to fix that whole save problem with the foreign releases after they botched the U.S.A. version haha. so teh question is, where do you live?

Hey man. The way the save system works (in the US version) is that it saves your progress each time you walk through a door, as long as you don't die. So, if you turn your DS off or quit you're able to restart where you left off. However, if you die you restart at the beginning of the chapter. Yes, this may suck for some. :) We added additional checkpoints in the Japanese and European versions of the game to make it less frustrating. ;)

Thanks a lot for clearing that up for me, Mr. Watsham. I'd thought mabye you guys had quietly patched it and shipped out a new version. It's getting difficult to find dementium in stores now, unfortunately.

Thanks again Jools, Dementium is awesome, both technically and gameplay-wise, I'm getting Moon day 1, and plan to review it and post it here.

I agree that the save system in Dementium is not ideal. :)

We managed to fix this in the Japanese and European versions by adding a checkpoint in the middle of each chapter, which helps a lot.

The Moon save system is certainly a lot better, and there's also a bit more variety in the visuals. Hope you get a chance to check it out.
