I want a tele:( But I just bought a Taylor 814ce and a fender deville tube amp and a DD-3 and fossilized walrus bridge pins for my Taylor and koa buttons oh... and a rare ibanez jem 77fp. I want a TELE!!!
HOW DOES THIS HAVE 40 LIKES , people have milked a cow with less movement of their hands thn on ur vibrato, but on the + you know pentatonic and 1 other position mate.
hey guys, im thinking about buying another guitar, i allready have a SX custom made american ash wood telecaster, and i want somthing else for the heavy metal i love playing, so im wondering if i should by another telecaster, or a strat, what do you guys think????
@TheNeonBlues - You bet, I think I want to agree. The neck pickup is really important to me and I think the strat style is much better than the chrome top standard tele neck pickup. The tele bridge is just amazing though.
Thanks for the information. Yeah, I got beaten up badly selling my '96 Strat American Standard. A fine bone-white, kept in great shape. I'm too ashamed to say what I sold it for (and especially why), but it was the dumbest move I ever made. It almost never pays to sell a guitar. Hell, GIVE it away to someone who needs it before you sell it. You'll feel better.
That's the sweeetest looking "strat" innovation I've ever seen. How'd you put it together? Was it expensive? Your playing is real inventive, too. Thanks for sharing your skills.
@newaccountdebzbd Thank you very much. It really wasn't that hard to put together. I started by making small changes - tuners, pickups, bridge. Once you get familiar with the basics, the body and neck just get bolted together. I brought it to my guitar tech for a final setup when I was done, and he really smoothed out the finishing touches that make it nice. It was very worth it!
@newaccountdebzbd - It wasn't that expensive either, less than $400 for sure. And you can really customize it to your desires. It is hard to get that kind of quality and customization in the price range. Be aware though, the resale value is really poor. I'd put it up against an American Standard Fender, but if I tried to sell it at a shop locally I'd have a hard time getting $250.
@360idol - I follow. The strat having a JB jr. makes the bridge position very un-stratty, especially with crunchy rhythm. I do believe that the HSS strat is everything a vintage strat wished it could be.
@360idol - neither guitars are fenders, I put them both together myself. And I'm not sure I follow as to why they can't be compared?? Is there something important about the headstock decal?
@kleydj13 My wife always tells me I make weird faces when I play too. Now I know what she is talking about. Gotta do something about that... Nice playing by the way!
Tele all the way. Something about having the bridge pickup actually mounted in to the bridge makes for really nice clarity and definition. If you like to home-brew teles, you should try my next recipe. It's a pine tele body, GFS neck with rosewood board, esquire pickguard (no neck pickup), and rout the pickup cavity wide enough so it's all the way from the bridge to almost the neck, GFS ashtray humbucker bridge w/graphite saddles, and a GFS "Surf-90". I heard a demo, best single coil ever!
both are beauties but i think i think i might have a slight preference for the tele...althought the neck pick up does not seem to be the original tele
