Little Steven -- this one's for you, pard! Yeah, I remember Upbeat on WEWS (Cleveland, OH). That was after The Big Five Show left the air on the same channel.
Loved this song...was played every Thursday night at The Tottenham Royal in London late 60's early 70's. Just found the record after almost 40 years.......ebay would you believe.
Bloody good football tune and clapped many a time over The Arsenal.
i was a dj in the sixties and this is the best track to get every one on the floor. at one time every one stamped there feet and it almost colapsed the floor .
Thanks for posting this and the "I want candy" video - Is there a way we can contact you? - I tried a message - but there is a block that stops it. The reason is - we are the band in both videos (all 4 still alive) and we (our families included) would love to talk to you about tracking down some other shows we did around the same time frame.
@nyrainbow5 - thanks for getting back to us - any chance of getting copies of the original files? or hiring you to burn a dvd of the 2 shows from the original files? Seems that the originals would be a larger size than the youtube version and display better on a TV.
@zipkilowatt -Yes we did tour and do tv shows as the strangeloves - and yes - we played on almost all of the strangeloves albums as well as several tunes on the Mccoys first album.
@redfin123 So I take it none of the writers from the Stangeloves (Goldstein Gotterher, and Feldman) were in the touring band? Are you at liberty to name the guys in these videos? Thanks for any help.I knew the Strangeloves and the Mccoys used New York studio musicians.
@lordritchie - sure - FGG did some touring initially - but after Sloopy was released they got too busy to tour
themselves. Check out the Wikipedia write up for "Strangeloves" - gives a quick re-cap with some details. The 4 of us were from Staten Island and Clark NJ.
@lordritchie Here is the answer you want. No not this video. FGG boys, they did tour however everything you hear from the Strangeloves is from studio musicians.
