i remember when my old man got me to watch this movie for the first time.....i remember thinking what rubbish is this crap that he's got me watching, but at the end of the film i was amazed it really is a great movie. underrated too in my opinion

I had the privilege to see this film in Sydney before it came out. My Aunt did the Trailers (previews) for this film and so I saw a screening along with the people from Qantas airlines who were deciding if they were going to show it on their flights. The Qantas people loved it and so did I! I left this movie feeling like dancing at that I could conquer the world. My father has passed away the year before at this may have been the first time I smiled. Thanks Strictly Ballroom!

The story line is so cliche' with over the top efforts at comedy that just falls flat.

Watched this movie for the first time today. Dancing infront of the Coke sign was the best part in it. Didn't know what to make of the rest of it - a disturbing mix of glitz, glamour and very occasional comic moments. Didn't like the way it all panned out towards the Paso Doble at the end. Too over the top. Would have been much better finishing with a foxtrot or quickstep but maybe that's because I just prefer these dances! Still, a watchable movie that's better than most Hollywood shite!

I know you don't find out what team won in the end, but I think it's safe to say that it was Fran and Scott. The chemistry they had together was wonderful and touching. I'm also happy for old man Hastings. He was really denied in his prime by that jerk judge, wasn't he? Great film, with a great soundtrack too. Dance, the fruity rumba! =)

I love this movie, its really underrated-none of my friends have even heard about it!
