F-15s Have shot MIG-31s Because There Performance wasnt great at all fishbeds Where nimble and just didnt have the capabilities In air to air Combat! F-15 is coward "mig killer". It was used mostly against oudated migs (generation behind).

It was used in good conditions in superior numbers against weak extermely outnumbered enemy (Iraq, Serbia) .

Few Mig-29s that F-15 faced were poor maintained downrgraded-export version. outnumered too.

The F-15 is not a coward plane. Yeah, a lot of the kills are older migs. But its mission isnt to be picky and only go in "fair" engagements, but to go in and destroy any plane that might consider going against you.

Oh, and at least nine of the kills were the more modern MiG-29.

These "modern Mig-29" were downgraded export models, poor maintained, outumbered 10:1 (Iraq, Serbia)

Problem were not in MIGs, problem was in fact that countries with these migs had weak airfoce and bad pilots.

Yeah you're right migkiller.. By the time they got thru with the 104 wew would not rtecognize it.. I was thinking a 106 would be a better candidate because it already has an internal weapons bay.. It woulds be awesome to see the Starfighter once again . The Italians just retired their f-104 S models in 2004.. lucky bastards!

Dont get me wrong but why cant we bring back say the F-104 with stealth and gen 5 upgrades.. I mean I like the F-22 I think it's awar winner and lethal to the max, but we are going to re-build the F-15 why cant we bring back a couple of century series with gen 5 upgrades.. dont mind me just thinking/typing out loud.

Because it would have to be a coomplete redesign of the Starfighter. Granted; many changes are being made to the eagle, but it wouldn't even look like a 104 if when they rolled it out of the hangar. We already have a realatively cheap and expandable platform, the Eagle, that is currently in use in very large numbers. The most reasonable and logical thing to do would be to go with the F-15. I think ti would be awesome to hear the howl of the J-79s once again, but it sadly will never happen.

Everything about the 104 would be lost in the redesign so I think ti would be more like ruining the plane if they put it back into service. It would tak a lot of time and money which the government does seem good at wasting. But they would rather waste it on the Eagle than the Starfighter. I think that the F-35 is going to be like the Eagle in the 70's (I know that the 15 was originally designed as a pure ASF but look what it has become). It is a capable aircraft that is loved by both mechs and

Syntaxerror9.. Downing an AIRBORN helicopter from another AIRBORN platform (F-15 etc) is by it's very definition an air-to-air kill.. What does AWACS have to do with anything? That's how the USAF has worked since the early 60's.. The enemy takes off, puts his wheels up, AWAC's detects them and vectors in fighters, they go down in flames.. it's that simple.

That's wrong! The F-15 in all air forces has an air-to-air combined kill record of 104 kills to 0 losses in air combat.

The USAF F-15 had 5 confirmed kills against the MiG-29 "Fulcrum"

Yes, it has a very good kill ratio: 105:0, the Mirage III was another extremely good MiG killer in the hands of the israelis, and Col. Giora Epstain remains as the best jet age ace, with 17 confirmed kills, while flying Mirage III and IAI Neshers...
