  • neat job can it follow body heat sources like some big spiders do ?

  • @xevilstar Could easily achieved using at least two but better four heat sensors.

  • nice vid mate. I like the music, it fits with the vid

  • I want it...

    (hehehehehe)

  • Awesome music!

  • I'd love to see the reaction of my dog with that thing

  • 127 people thought it was a real spider

  • ok.... i know a birthday-present for my grildfriend now!! :D

  • Wow, imagine the havoc you could wreak with some of those. Let them loose in a restaurant and watch the fun.

  • i think this wouldn't survive for too long if you'd put it in a women's fitting room.

  • if i have one, i'll put it on teacher's table XD

  • 2:45 plate moves BY ITSELF WTF?!?!?!

  • @theinvisiblehotdog it's not moving by itself! look carefuly at 2:55, you can see a fingers on handle of FRYING PAN

  • it walks like a paraplegic spider :(

  • Wow now make a gigantic one that runs off diesel

  • Praise Lloth, an invention worthy of mass production!!!

  • i was waiting for it to start singing

  • 1:24 that is how robots take complete control of there own body

  • It's a puppet ... obviously!

  • esta chida para la suegra

  • It is not articulated, I suppose.

  • not bad but you can make it better

  • to the people who disliked the video: why???!!

  • pretty awesome

    :)

  • Very inspiring. Its like an irrational agent. It just reacts to environment, and that could be enough to survive in simple systems. Loved the principles. Thank you very much.

A very simple model to solve a complex problem. I'll read more about braitenberg.

  • this is the only robot animal like this ive seen that actually uses the legs instead of wheels on the bottom

  • You made this? It's really neat

  • If he loses a leg will it grow back?

  • Waaawwwww It's Relly Amazing.... :O

  • you just invented a bug...that's all it really does...how can you prove you haven't created life?

  • Ahhh look at his little legs :D

  • CUUUTTTEE

  • love it

  • I want blueprints! i wanna make it be able to fight a real one!

  • como que es de jugete ¿no?

  • lol the spider looked like it walked to the beat of the music!!!!

  • the future spys!! Nice

  • This is really cool but does anyone know what this song is or who it's by??

  • wats is the music? xD, i watn to know XD

  • Hummm... where are the puppet strings? This spider doesn't support its own weight in any of its legs when it "walks". But I almost fall, I must admit.

  • The music makes it so much more epic xD

  • that's fake

  • maneiro :D

  • This music makes me think of a hobo with his thumbs up...=_='.....or maybe thats a hippie.....:T

  • @IGotTheFunny

but u also need a chip with this kinda program

  • Looks more like an ant with too many legs. Thorax and head too large, abdomen too small.

  • Spiders are so complex... makes it hard to geive a robot similar motion flow..

  • Can it climb walls..?

  • i was really young and my family tried to scare me with a big fake spider i was so scared that i wouldnt even go near it even when they told me it was fake..... this one actually looks more believable so yeh that sucks :/ lol

  • @tinowerner ...

  • It would suck if someone stepped on it, thinking it's a real spider

  • It's so cute, I want one! <3

  • good music

  • Lol the song fits perfectly with the video

  • Pretty neat.

I like the technology employed.. the 'direct drive sensors'.. That is exactly how real bugs operate.. albeit in a more complex fashion.

  • OH I WOULD HAVE GOOD TIMES WITH THIS XD

  • im afraid of spiders, buit for some reason I wouldn't be scared of this one.

  • i wuld die if tht thing wanderd around my house >_>

  • Will it blend that is the question ??

  • @NinjaPiratePenguin

    I have created absolutely nothing.

However, i understand the ridiculous amount of effort thrown into this, even when unfortunately, it appears to just be a ridiculously expensive toy spider.

Now that i actually read the description however, i respect it alot more.:)

  • @NinjaPiratePenguin Well done to you too sir on givng the most trite reply to an obviously childish comment. May I inquire into the wonders you have created in your free time?

  • @MrGibbsOfficial Me too. I lol'd When I first saw it move then I was like, actually... Damn that's cool! Where can I get one?

  • What's the name of this song?

  • THAT IS COOL!!!!!!!!!

  • I must get this song! so relaxing!

  • looks like stop motion :P

  • the itcy bitcy mechanical spider short circuited in the water spout

  • gut gemacht

  • um its objiously a remote control spider(ever think of that!!!!)

  • i'm terrified.

  • this is pretty much why insects can be so mobile but so simple. the only sense of logic to many insects is just identification of mates, prey, feeding, attackers, and flanking.

  • very groovy song

  • Hey is this hard to make? and is Braitenberg's book help you build robotic stuff? cuz i mean ive seen some really advanced robots, but this really inspired me and now i want to make a robot.

  • @AvocadoMatrix

I haven't read Braitenberg's book, I only used the simple basic principle to generate motor signals directly from the sensor signals.

  • @tinowerner

motor signals directly from the sensor signals?

    without any circuits ??

  • @tinowerner the movement is brilliant, I want to make a larger version of this for giant spider pranks!!!

  • he wants to start a congo line

  • i want one!

  • very nice"!

  • @mryjn420090 No I'm pretty sure its a real robot...

  • Sir have you considered making these and selling them? There is a real market for these, especially if you included an introductory pamphlet on Braitenberg devices. It is easy to imagine these sold as edutainment toys.

  • @TempleOfSin

Yes, I think you are right. I've been thinking about it.

  • is it rc or autonomic?

  • @pipin580001 auto

  • the music is cool ^.^ im dancin xD ... O.O i hate spiders

  • AWESOME!!!

  • whats up with your floor lol?

  • what is the music playing..?..love it..

  • thats not real

  • mhh i need 1 :D where can i buy 1

  • at 0:10 i thought the spider made that music sound XD

  • does it climb on the wall?????

  • Where can i buy one of these??

  • but better design?

    i how a ant....-.-

  • jou hammer das is ja mal geil^^

  • Thats cool! :D

  • Leg-body movements appear somewhat inconsistent.

If you really put effort into doing something like this - you wouldnt upload a single video, with no resources to refer whatsoever. No images revealing technical aspects of the robot provided too.

    Funny stop motion animation

  • @tinowerner How did you mechanise the legs?? How many motors?

  • that is so cool, i have always loved robotics :)

  • how to make one??what do we need?

    send in message plzz

  • this thing is soooo cool

  • the music is infectious , i can't help myself , it just makes you want to move.

  • Cool! what's the music?

  • thats so fake, its not even real

  • people dont realize how easy it is to sense.

the steering wheel in your car senses, and tells the wheels to turn one way or the other (well, in newer cars they sense). this spider senses light and tells the legs to move one way or the other.

"it works without any logic device" that is genius.

  • nice work!

  • what makes it realistic is the way the legs move.

  • that song is dope what is it called!?

  • @Hamish07279

ITS SUPOST TO BE FAKE ITS A ROBOT!

  • lol it still looks real enough to trick someone in a fairly dark room, if i felt this moving past my foot and looked down i would crap my slef

  • LOL AWESOME!

  • it looks fake

  • wow that is the best thing ive ever seen.i want one :(

  • @BloodyKnife636 thats what she said

  • I'm impressed by how natural it looks! Great way of mimicking basic reflexes!

  • @dujl

walking straight doesn't look to good on that spider.

    turning looks GREAT!

  • Well, I didn't say walking straight looks great. I was referring to its reactions.

  • @dujl

    true.

the reactions do look good actually.

  • Wow thats so simple, yet so totally awesome at the same time! 5/5 absolutely!

  • Gotta love it how it goes up to the light and is like "Wtf?" while seeing how close it can get.

Then it moves and it's like "Wtf!!!" and watches.

Then the light moves towards it and it's like "Wtfwtfwtfwtfwtfwtfwtfwtfwtfwtfwtfwtf!!!!!!!?????"

  • mmh u should add rubber on the feet

    it has not much grip

  • where did you get it from???

  • how are yo coordinating the movement of the legs. are the light sensor feeding into a controller that knows how to move the legs to get "left" and "right" or are the light sensors connected directly to the leg servos?

  • Yes, the light sensors are connected directly to the leg servos.

  • to bad it dosent walk like a spider but anyways this is awesome

  • Nos quieren tomar el pelo?

Eso no es de verdad es de plastico

  • nice! 5*:D

  • make it climb up walls and along ceilings

  • the spidero is sooo cool! but the music of video is stupid

  • I would pay much to buy that XD

  • is nich ma nen roboter sondern ein plastikspielzeug -.-

  • IIIIIIIIIHHH XD damit kann ich meine Mutter jagen fg :D

  • good for jokes :D

  • That was fucking awesome. The music was cool too, very "robot-spiderish." But if I went to your house and didn't know that was a robot I'd probably stomp the shit out of it before you had a chance to explain.

  • Cool experiment ! But it looks more like a (giant) ant to me...

    Cool music 8)

  • cool! but little bit too slow..

  • *dances to the music*

  • thats sooooo cool!

  • it should be hairy

  • Awesomeness on 8 legs. 5/5

  • This is a very interesting experiment. Great stuff.

  • this shows alot, actually. to think that an animal needs complex eyes and a brain to walk around and find food is wrong....

  • if my mom saw this she would die

  • That robot is beyond awesome how it backs away from ledges and knows to avoid walls. It's almost like a real spider.

  • how mutch it coast : it coast 4,0000 million dollers :D

  • actually danielis45 you can get them on amazon for 10-20 pounds :)

  • Would be interesting to put your spider together with a real tarantula and see what happens.

  • This is quite the good. :)

  • It almost looks like claymation or stop-motion and not a real robot.

  • why does anyone need to create that

  • It seems like its not walking by the help of its legs specially while turning.though the legs are moving its slipping in many movements...!still its very gooood!! LOVES IT!

  • wow coolest thing ever

  • can i buy it from you?

  • music is cool

  • scare som1 already!!!!!!

  • very nize!

  • it is made of motors which is then linked to a 4 bar linkage principle

  • thats how i feel towards light as well XD "oooo pretty,OW MY EYES IT BURNS,ooo pretty, NO IT STILL BURNS"

  • where did you get it from and how?

  • It's a self-made unique!

  • very, very interested in how you acheived the gait... 8 bicores and four IMx's? I cant imagine how they'd all fit in this body... SMD components? Please, confess! unless you plan to open a factory to build these, or patent and sell the design to a toy company, you have no valid reason for keeping its secrets a secret!

  • Haha! Wow, thats amazing!

  • With out any logic ?!

  • soo... basically, it's acting on like a mechanical version of reflexes then?

  • Yes, that's one way of putting it!

  • Damn. I wish my reflexes were honed enough to get me from A to B without me being conscious... I bump into things even when I'm awake :P

  • coolness!

  • ujde

  • it starts to look real towards the end

  • good job dude!

  • I can't believe that there's no logic device in it...

  • really id piss my pants before i say shit!!!

  • name of this song

  • Hey! That's pretty cool!

  • preety cool.

  • this thing with sum hairs and "styling", damn id be scared to death if I saw this in the dark

  • I almost thought it was real

  • that would be good to put on someone when there sleeping XP

  • Great work! I've built a few beam robots, and it always amazes me how complex the behaviour can appear without any microcontrollers making decisions.Very impressive.

  • Great work! I've built a few analog

  • Looks pretty good. How much is it,and where can I get one?

  • It's an unique and therefore it isn't purchasable. But if someone would produce it...

  • cool toy
