Dedicated to all my brother across the Nusantara Island. We just take care of our ancestral heritage, just like you.. We from same root my brothers... (Didedikasikan kepada semua saudara ku seluruh Pulau Nusantara. Kami hanya menjaga warisan nenek moyang kami, sama seperti anda .. kita dari keturunan yang sama saudara-saudara ku ...)

  • @selebet77 Thanks for your comment.

  • My great great grandfather sang this song 220 years ago. The Chinese might be the composer of this songs that other races assimilated.

  • @tklim66 FVCK U !! This is Minang Folk song

  • Well to be truthful, it's not even a Malaysian or Indonesian song. Who claim it right that this is their own 'warisan' respective to their nation are either doesn't know about history or plain stupid. This song were originally come from either 'Tanah Melayu' or 'Sumatera'. There is no such thing as indonesia melayu because indonesia were only a name that has been suggested as a name for a country. p/s : correct me if my facts are wrong. Thanks.

  • this is original indonesia melayu

    not malaysia suck

  • @HUNTINGcrocobain hahahaha...originally from portuguese sucker!

  • mynafifi @ kao tu yg bodoh....knapa kamu gax mengakui aja kalau smua yg ada d malay tu punya Indonesia.

Malay harus hormat sama Indonesia...karna orang malay u gax punya apa2 tanpa Indonesia

  • this is not indonesian song this is malay song

  • can i have the tab? please sir i need it for school project

    greeting from indonesia you rock!

  • @fuckingskatergamer I don't have tabs, but if you're looking for the chords, you can find them on my website. (The link is in the information box above.) Click on "My Folk Songs", then "Songs from Around the World", then "Songs From Asia" and you will find it.

  • @raymondcrooke thank you sir (:

  • orang malay ngejiplak lagi..ini lagu dr jaman nenek monyang ku.

Dr sbelum malengsia merdeka lagu ini sudah ada.

Smua lagu yg di nyanyikan orang malay smua dari Indonesia.

    Kreasi anak bangsa Indonesia.

  • @fa267 sama ada kau bodoh atau goblok!!! kau tahu tak asal-usul org Melayu, rata2 dri Sumatera & lain2 kepulauan di nusantara sebelum nusantara dijajah oleh kuasa2 asing. kat Malaysia & Singapura bersepah org2 Melayu KETURUNAN JAWA, BUGIS, JAMBI, MINANG, AMBON, BATAK, MANDAILING, ACHEH dll. jadi jgnlah ko menuduh kami menciplak karya & budaya bangsa Indonesia kerana KITA SEMUA BERASAL DRPD KETURUNAN NENEK-MOYANG YG SAMA!!! kami tidak menciplak tapi kami mempertahankn warisan adat budaya kami..!!

  • @mynamefifi bila korang rasa asal nenek moyang dan rasa mempertahankan warisan budaya, maka show from which this song comes

the owner of this video has also been understand to display the song ORIGIN FROM WHERE " Indonesia"

  • @astanajava assalamualaikum wahai sahabat?? syukur alhamdulillah, jika begitu kata anda. saya malas nak bertekak panjang lebar psl hal remeh-temeh ini. saya menyeru kepada rakyat Malaysia sekalian, tidak usahlah kita bertikam lidah dengan warga Indonesia lagi kerana mereka ini tidak makan saman. mereka bangga & tamak-haloba dgn keBESARan, keHEBATan & keKAYAan yg mereka miliki ini tanpa menyedari esok kat kubur nanti, Malaikat Munkar Nakir tak kan tanya berapa BESAR/HEBAT/KAYA budaya Indonesia??

  • Comment removed

  • @mynamefifi walaikum salam, saye fikir lagu ini no association with malaikat Mungkar Nakir, tak de keterkaitan dengan itu psl tu

ini berkaitan dengan "kenapa bila warga malaysia menyanyikan lagu daerah /suku or tribe song from Indonesia, there is no creator and region of origin of the song tetapi hanya menyebut "WARISAN", everyone knows the meaning of warisan, but from whom/where?

bila korang tengok television show or video clips, you'll find who the singer, author, and title of the song? rite

  • sekali lagi, thanks sdh membawakan lagu ini dengan baik..nice job sir :)

  • NIce sir...terima kasih telah membawakannya dengan baik :)

  • cool sir...

  • i am from Indonesia...but i am pretty sure this song was actualy a folk song for, indonesian, singapore and malaysian people....far before we've got our independence....all people on these country grow listening to this song....

i know it because i have a lot of friend from singaporean and malay.....

we shd share this culture together........

  • @arjots I agree. There seems to be a lot of argument about "Rasa Sayang" though!

  • @arjots im from malaysia and totally agreed with you dude..

the invasion from the west split us all..

  • my childhood song!!!

  • ini lagu dari daerah mana ya?

  • Lagu ini penuh nasihat..cuba dengarkan liriknya..

  • There's a long stretch of road in singapore (singapura) named Geylang after Eunos up to Kallang. From Geylang Road to Geylang Lorong to Geylang Serai. Geylang Serai is famous among the Malays while Geylang Road is famous for its food and haha it's..........

  • @pisangbaikpeh I've heard it's a good place for chicken....

  • @pisangbaikpeh you're right..in fact this is a singapore song..

  • This song reminds me of my mom, she often sang this song when I was a kid, thnx u. Well done!!!

  • @dessysaleh Glad it could bring back those memories.

  • Hi Raymond. Greetings from Bruneian.

  • dude this is awsome

  • This is my favorite song when I was in kindergarten!! Good job, Mr. Raymond..

I live in Riau region, Indonesia..

  • @humdrumjack That's a lovely part of the world.

  • you look so much like my father LOL! even my nephews said the same thing. Excellent cover, i like it very much! what influenced you to cover malays folk songs?

  • @CRUZEOO I've travelled a lot in Malaysia and Indonesia and lived in Singapore and Brunei, so I've had plenty of opportunity to learn Malay songs. Thanks for watching.

  • @raymondcrooke

this song is from Indonesia, i think you have to learn it more, this is not from Malaisya.

    *Barongan is also from Indonesia

  • @candrapsikolog84 this song is traditionally been shared among people in Malays Archipelago, not juz in Indonesia only. All of we came frm da same origin, be either Jawa, Bugis, Mandailing, Minang, Acheh, Manado, Ambon, Jambi, Kemboja, Pattani, Sulu @ elsewhere, still belong 2 one root - Malays! we share similar 'adat', culture, language, cloths, foods, or even skin color! the different is just the citizenship. i think u should learn ur origin blood history before make that ridiculous statement!

  • itu jatuhnya sudah ke hak cipta, satu rumpun tapi bukan berarti semua yg diciptakan orang indonesia berhak diakui oleh orang malaisya, negara kalian kan maunya main enaknya saja, ngaku2.........

INI KAITANNYA DENGAN UANG, anyway, i am very lazy to talk to MALINGSIA

  • nice one sir....like it

  • this song from indonesia ..

I often sing it when I was at playgroup..

Post the lyrics anyway, not like that.!!!

  • just for ur info, this song is indonesian traditional song, and doesnt have anything to do with malay.

  • we love indonesia!! :D peace and love

  • raymond...aku suka lagu ini....bagaimana kalu awak nyanyi lagu tanpa gitar....mesti awak jadi terkenal...

  • @Tukangtambah Thanks for your comments.

  • @raymondcrooke he was saying, how about you singing without the guitar? Just a suggestion =).

  • this song indonesia

  • @gaaraamir No.

  • Nice :)

  • you did it your own way... 2 thumbs up sir ;)

  • Thanks for watching.

  • I like this song most from your Malay series singing ,where you've learnt the language ? I think you've spend a good time in this region

  • I have lived in Singapore and Brunei and travelled quite a lot in Malaysia - but I've never really learnt the language, except for a few songs.

  • bro raymond try this song "ku pujuk ku rayu". appreciated it...

  • honestly i enjoy ur song bro.....welldone

  • i like it.u have nice voice.

  • Thank you.

  • you have a beautiful voice too.

    actually, it's indonesian folksong.

folksong usually sang by children or taught by their teachers in school...

and, why malaysia has this song too...

in my opinion, it's because in the first time around 1940s indonesia sent teachers to malaysia, and then it being popular too in malaysia...that's my opinion.

we should search the original form for the lyric because it will adapted too depend to the country. maybe you sang the singapore style here.hehehehe

  • That's quite likely, as I was teaching in Singapore for six years.

  • jangan suka menagata

  • very nice for someone who cant speak malay.... good job..

  • Thanks for subscribing to my channel.

  • nice!!! =D

  • Thanks for subscribing.

  • very nice mrRay juz its 'gaylang' not 'gelang' btw i realy like this keep up :)

  • @kingdataran98 mrRay... never mind. in malaysia, gelang have 2 meaning.. nice song..

  • melayu or indonesia its same thing we are same rumpun /nenek moyang..

  • wow cool.......

    anyway it's indonesian language

  • Thanks for watching.

  • nice song dude...where did u learn to speak malay???

  • I can't speak Malay. I can only sing Malay!

  • hehe.. it's indonesian language dude.. a bit different with malay.. ^^

  • Woah, you're good~

Have you been to Indonesia, sir?

  • Yes. Many times.

  • TABIK!

    d ^ _ ^ b

  • Some of the comments here are quite racist - towards their own. It is amusing that people were fighting about the origins of the song without realising that the language used is about the same (be it Indonesia or Melayu).

Anyway, your singing had me reminiscing my childhood days. Thanks~

  • Thanks for your comments.

  • raymon..u're great..can u speak malay..??or u just sing malay song..??

  • raymon..i like ur song..

  • Thank you.

  • it's Indonesian folk song, it's origin from Kalimantan island, not from Malaysian.

it's usually been sang when people wanna come home from any other party or reunion.

and i think the words "geylang di singapura" it was a words play, like a poetry....Singapura was a great country, that's why in this song the creatoe added the words for the poet.

but it's wonderfull sir...big appreciate from me.long life Mr. Raymond Crooke =) i always wanna go to Australia but not enough money yet hehehe

  • Thanks for all that information. Hope you can get to Australia some time.

  • It is very commonly heard in Malaysia, too...I heard college aged kids singing it on the way home from a bar...and explained it was about kites and something like that - Kite fighters singing it joyfully...

  • 5 star for u

  • this is an indonesian song? the lyrics says geylang si paku geylang ..geylang di singapura ?..if this is composed by indonesia for singapore ...thank u indonesia ...

  • amazing sir!

u will have no problem to communicate with malaysian! Your malay dialect is good!

    ^_^

  • Only when I sing! Thanks for subscribing.

  • same thing!! i think indonesian and malaysian are the same language :)

    great job anyway! :D

  • Long live Raymond Crooke! What you've done sir is more than singing the songs from another country. You've actually made people realize that we can actually appreciate the culture from a place other than our own, and that sir, is a big thing to do.

Greetings from the UK. Malaysia is a wonderful country.

  • Thank you. i always enjoy visiting Malaysia.

  • this is malay song or indo song?

  • "JANGAN SUKA MENGATA ORG,DIRI SENDIRI BAIK DIJAGA" hahaha..nice!

  • omg!!

u did well to sing this song!!

    amazing!!

    pulang marilah pulang bersama2~

  • Thanks. It's not really a difficult song!

  • then i giv u 5star then!

  • Wow!You sung all the words correctly! You're really good!

  • Thank you.

  • Well done! you did it well I really love it. I sang this song when I was child and you make a very good indeed....Splendid

  • Thank you. Glad you like it.

  • Waaa... fantastic

    You sing really well

    Very nice! Great Vocal!

    I Love your facial expressions..

  • Thanks for your comment.

  • Hey, your pronouniation is better than mine .. And I'm a native Jakarta. haha That's what I get for not practicing Indonesian for a long time in America.

    xD

  • Mesti kamu ini orang boyan singapura kan roadcows...hakhakhak...tuhan tak akan tolong sesuatu bangsa itu maju kecuali mereka bantu diri mereka sendiri...so wakeup laaaa...

  • "gelang di singapura" is it indonesian song?

"jangan suka mengata orang diri sendiri baik dijaga" for roadcows ^.^"

nice raymond thank you for posting this : )

  • You are an idiot .

If your mom scolds you would you say "jangan suka mengata ,orang diri sendiri baik dijaga ?"

And this is not "mengata" but more of "stating facts/statistics "

Anyways , Mr Crooke ,are you a Kiwi ?

All the best in your future songs !

  • i don't think it's a racial attitude...

well, i just wanna say, it's indonesian song...

teacher in play group always sing this song when it's time to go home...

  • u r an idiot .I myself am a malay and im sad to see this race deteriorate .

  • he was just trying his best to sing this malay song..you have no idea how hard for an english guy to sing in malay! IDIOT!

  • Roadcows just telling us that he is racists or anti-Malay...

  • owh yah..who care

  • Simply amazing for a non-malay .

It's sad the local malays don't even appreciate their culture and music and arts .

Generally in Sg ,the malays are the scum of the society ,they have the highest abortion rate ,school dropout rate ,crime rate ,divorce rate and the higest % to leave school after sec4 .

Its sad that the malays now are a far cry from the malays of the past -P. Ramlee ,Yusof Ishak ,Zubir Said ect .

  • Maybe so, but when I was teaching in Singapore some of my very top students were Malays, and I was quite impressed by the way a lot of the Malay students were involved in cultural activities, especially traditional singing and dancing.

  • bravooo... i love it :) u did great

and by the way, it's an indonesian song! i just hope the malays don't steal it :P (no racial)

  • wait...its a bit off to say that its indonesian in the first place...especially since Geylang is in Singapore as one can probably note from the lyrics of the song...

  • Unless someone can prove that geylang (or gelang as is written in the title) is a place in Singapura which is situated in Indonesia. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense for it to be Indonesian at all...if that is the case..would it be safe to say that Di Tanjung Katong, Anak Singapura and Majulah Singapura is from Indonesia as well?

  • it's indonesian just for your info. it's funny to hear you sing indoesian XD

  • Yes, but they like to sing it in Malaysia and Singapore too! Thanks for subscribing.

  • oh, thanks for telling, i just knew that. your welcome

  • that's indonesian song not malay sir

  • It could be both...I heard college-aged Malays singing it on the way home from a bar - and we talked about this song...thats why I looked it up.

  • Pls rename ur video name

the real song came form indonesia

    not malay

    malay is the copycat country!!!!!!

  • this is defintly indonesia's song..(Gelang Sipaku Gelang (Traditional Indonesian / Malay)

malay is such f**kin country alwys coppycat our culture ..

  • Your countrymen may not appreciate the rough & uncouth comments. This will only reflect on the poor culture & upbringing of yourself & misunderstanding of other country to your own people. So please keep it to yourself.

  • ok, whatev...i'll keep it, bye

  • I hope they don't copycat your use of F-Bombs, too. Classy with a K.

  • this is absolutely indonesian...please change the title, cuz as an indonesian, im f*ckin pissed..malay always claims our culture sorry my english

  • Please watch your language & attitute. Be sensitive on your comments. You wouldn't want to start a culture war!!!

  • ur good :]

do u know what gelang sipaku gelang mean??

    thanks

  • mari pulang

    marilah pulang

    marilah pulang

    bersama2

    come on go home 3x,

    together

  • bravo...u did a great job....

  • enjoyy!!

  • i love this song ...recall my childhood memory ..oooh! thanks for singing this song!

  • You're welcome, Jeannysama.

  • very nice:) Aku jadi ingat masa kecil di kampung ( Kalimantan Barat). I live in San Diego, CA now.....miles miles away from home.

"Mari pulang, marilah pulang...marilah pulang bersama-sama....."

  • Thanks. The only part of Kalimantan I have been to is Pontianak and the surrounding area.

  • hay mr.raymond r u sure all song u sing is indonesian folk..??? because another country also claim some song like RASA SAYANGE or another song..can u make us believe that all song is indonesian song.... thanks a lot..n do u know where i can get info about real indonesian song n that's fact from indonesia..thx

  • I don't really think it matters where the songs originated. They are there for everybody to enjoy.

  • Of course Gelang Sipaku gelang is Indonesian folk song, it's originally from West Sumatera.

  • U're good sir!

  • Thank you.

  • I live in Brunei! And good thing I live in Brunei because it's peaceful :) You are very good at singing, btw.

  • Peaceful is certainly one way to describe it. Thank you for your comment.

  • reminds me of my childhood in Brunei... brilliant.

    Fai.

  • I don't really speak Malay - only when nobody speaks English!

  • what's with all of this arguments??

    i got malay's and indo's blood..and i'm proud of it..

    don't worry,be happy..!

  • yeayy..love ur thought on the song, whereever we came from, this song is still classic :D

  • Hi Mr Raymond,I applaud your talent and your interest in other culture's songs. Not many Malays children now who actually knows their traditional or P Ramlee songs labeling it as backdated or too traditional. I'm impressed and showed it to my niece who loves it too.Well Done!

  • Thanks for your feedback - and subscription.

  • love ur malay songs!! this one's a favourite! :D

  • good song and ur voice man.. good job

  • Where are You from Sr ? I Like your voice same like P Ramlee
