The reason the SLS and the SLR perform about the same yet the SLS is less than half price is mostly simply due to the TRANSMISSION being behind the driver creating a 53:47 weight distribution unlike the SLR's 51:49. So, it makes braking, accelerating, and steering easier relieving MB from spending a lot of time on the aerodynamics and on forced induction. That's why the SLR looks so 'busy' and shorter.

@kevinbrueck I can understand it sounds ugly. There are a lot of 'hard sounds' in the Dutch language. But if you study the language closely you will see it is a mixture of English and German. Pronunciation has changed yes but looking closely you can relate a lot of words back to English or German.

The R8 V10 YES, is slower than the SLS AMG. But that is quite normal. I can give you two solid reasons for this.

The SLS is a 6.3 litre. The R8 V10 is a 5.2 litre.

The R8 V10's engine was modified by audi to make it slower. And the reason is cause the gallardo would not sell as much if audi came with a supercar thad had the same power. And Audi does not want that, since it owns the whole Lambo company
