More right than you know. This is mostly Wahweap Wash and tributaries. Major tributary to the Colorado in Glen Canyon, which dumps into Grand Canyon. :)
It comes from alot of water that builds up together when a heavy thunderstorm forms over the desert. when the rain hits the hard dry ground it can't soak in and rather moves over the land and gathers speed and volume as more water washes down the hills surrounding the valley.
AMAZING ! i wish i could see that for real..like actually be there...tht flash flood scene were its all calm then BOOM water comes rushing in...thts just amazing.
anything but fake, that one started out small, later that day it took a jeep with a friend of mine in it downstream over 200 yards from where he tried to cross. Lucky he made it out.
My kids were asking me " Dad, what's a flash flood"....this for sure is the most graphic and incredible footage I could show them!! Excellent job, glad you made it out to show! I have to say the coolest part of these videos, is hearing you breathing heavy after you run out from the gullies...my hearts starts racing too!!!! Very, Very well done! I think you should consider putting a movie together with this stuff!
Awesome video! I live in flash flood land and find them fascinating. You always seem to be in the right place at the right time...or you are a flood chaser. :-)
Thanks for posting a magnificient video. What I liked was the first flow of flood water on the barren land, water flowing through crevices, water falling over the cliff and in the end the banks being washed away. Nature at its furiest best. Keep uploading such videos. Thanks again.
Excellent captures! I love Google Earth too. I'd like to know more about the plug in you use. I use my GE to track my rattlesnake rescue/relocations for where I pick them up (easy-house address) and where I release them. (Guestimates based on following the trails into the nearby desert/park)
I have a plugin for Google Earth that tracks the storms for me with a detailed backdrop of the land. Can easily tell where the rain is falling. Did some math on a few others I had captured and figured the speeds they travel at. When the front "wall" comes through, in these wide flat washes, its usually traveling very slow, you can easily outrun them. This is usually caused by the flat ground, and the front of the flood being clogged with debris.
Hole in the rock road I take it. Beautifull country out there. Reminded me of harris wash on the way to zebra slot but the geography (i think) looked a little different.
Ahhhh! Cool! I am heading down to page (area) at the end of this month for a photo trip. It will be my first trip farther south than my usual Southern Utah trips. Thanks for the info and keep up the great footage!
thanks for sharing this video.... I guess we should plant more trees to prevent this from happening again...

it looked like the first one was fake,
in the sense that you put the camera on the ground and a little water came, like a bucketful.
you can tell because of the plants, little tiny grasses.
