No, the UFC was restructuring itself after the Ferttita brothers bought it out. MMA was getting a bad rap in the U.S. about 5 years ago + while Japan was already accepting of it. It was essentially a timing issue.I never thought Pride was overall better than UFC.They each had fighters in respective weights that might've been better,but the overall talent was about the same.Look at the UFC now, especially after Pride's collapse. Pride had too many fishy things going on i.e. fixed fights,etc.

I have been watching all UFC's since day one back in 1993 and same with Pride when Rickson fought Takada for the first time.

UFC is so watered down these days and most fighters in it are treated like they cattle or something.

Pride was a business but they did not care only for the money, they paid fighters more and staged events that could rival any show on earth.Plus the rules were so much more realistic.
