Christmas 1986...before the wall street crash, back then was the worst economic event since 1929. Everyone ended up broke & brought on the recession for 5 years, much worse in Cal. where I'm from (the Palm Springs area).
The only commercial I remember was the hershey's "retro 50s Americana" style on Saturday mornings. There was another Hershey's ad from 1990(?) with Wile E. Coyote/Roadrunner chase each other, but over a Hershey's bar. The ending jingle "all times great" can be found too. +
In 1980's America, the Yuppies were the "members only" group enjoyed the full fruits of their professional office labor. Sure, it was popular, trendy, lucrative, but stressful, anxious & when the markets fail, it's all over! Reaganomics was the miracle we pay for then, we pay for now.
Silo stores? They aren't in business any more, when they came to L.A.-Sou, Cal. in the early 90s, Silos were a bad joke & they close down. One other retailer came by: Wal-Mart, where no yuppies dare went to. +
Wow! I've been looking for that Friday Night Videos logo. Thats the first thing I can remember from television in the eighties. I remember when Friday Night Videos played Wham and Ah-Ha. I was only 3-4 years old but that logo and show stuck in my head. Whichh makes me wonder now how come my parents let me stay up that late?
Whoa, if some talented stylist could make me over to look like the woman in that Casio Keyboard commercial, I would SO be that stylist's #1 fan for life! And were all of these commercials aired throughout the duration of that "Friday Night Videos" program? I've heard of it. AWESOME.
What an awesome Hershey commercial that was with The Road Runner and Wiylie Coyote in Looney Toons back in 1986! I remember going to Hershey Park in Hershey, Pa on vacation the following year in 1987.
I bought a keyboard from Moratto back in 1986, and drove from Sydney (Australia) to get there. The bastards are still sending me $1/mile refund checks!
