@Kt8090 Yes "Square" lol, this is a Cavia game, and it was produces from multiple languages just futuristic. Emi Evans (the vocalist) stated herself she used French, German, Latin, Japanese, English, Gaelic and more just with a futuristic sound, making it all completely unique.
Just a notice for those arguing about the lyrics, the lyrics where taken from multiple language formats such as Latin, Japanese, french even Russian. From that, they cut up the words or phases to basic phonic sounds. They has no meaning other than to sound eargasmic.
@ gigaganon oh you seem to be know a quite on this subject ! I haven't the occasion to hear a lot of false language invented by japanese. I remember for Final Fantasy X they had invented the songs of the prayers, the songs were japanese lyrics split it out and logically mix if I say so. But the resuslts were very interested
@larmesdespoir it wasn't by a japanese person, they hired a british person, emi evans to make up the songs in the game and sing them. go visit her web site or better yet check out some interviews they did for nier on google!
this soundtrack is so amazing it is perfection for a game soundtrack. I play games a lot and played the many but never have i heard a track this amazing for a game!
(I revised the lyrics I made up... This should flow better. Again, sorry if they don't help, I based them off the way dipthongs and other phonetics are written in the languages I know and know of.) ---------- Kjareé vou pali tondou preja vé, Flaneé ne mou zsoirlouru, So fla mou nusiorna kanerou, Isoir se tou flanuéshu. ---- Louri sé dosjal pireé, Louri on seda loutreé, Louri zjé pera savou, Louri on troi la setou. ----- x2
I made up some lyrics to help me sing this. They may only be useful to me because I based it on bits of languages I know/(of.) I don't speak French btw. I'm not following any one language's phonetics, but I'm just posting this incase someone else finds it useful.
The lyrics were made up in the language made by Cavia for NieR. NieR takes place in a post apocalyptic world. Cavia has said that all the lyrics to these songs are meant to be in a futuristic English language.
@Alchemistx99 kaine's grandmother was squished by a shade and then that shade almost killed kaine so he entered her in oreder to save her life. But he wanted to wait till she died so he could eat her.
You just have to love that piano piece, its so amazingly done. How it all fits together with the little "novel" segments in the story and even though it keeps repeating I enjoy it more and more every time.
Is this the song that is played during the text-mode in the forest of dreams during the inhabitants nightmares? I am pretty sure it was instrumental only and I'm looking for a version without the vocals. Who knows more about it?
@calitz87 have to beat the game for the first time and then play it for the second time and I believe thats where it plays it when your at the time when your reading about the girls past. I could be wrong but I think thats where it is.
The languages used in this soundtrack are supposed to be a futuristic evolution of modern day languages according to Emi Evans, the vocalist/lyricist.
these songs are sung and written by emi evans. She made these songs from different languages such as: French, Spanish, gaelic, portuguese, italian and Japanese and more... didn't find the lyrics yet.
I realised that ! I'm french so I was aware of it, but what I meant is that the voice is so evanescent that it is difficult to understand precisely the pronunciation
But if catch somewhere the lyrics would you it share with us ?
@KjT8090 actually galvenize2 is right, to make these songs the artists was told to take these languages and make them sound how they would in the future, this way no one can fully understand the lyrics. i think each song is in a different language.
@larmesdespoir there are no lyrics at all, it's just random, not-words, put together to sound awesome, in some language, because NieR's music is inspired by French, English, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Gaelic, and I missed some, but there are at least 12 languages that inspired the music of NieR.
@larmesdespoir japanese people aren't very original when they must invent a language, in a lot of anime or videogame, when they talk an unknow language, it's allways sounds a lot like japanese
uhm, for the people wondering, its made so that its like a mix of several different languages, but it really doesnt mean anything

Hello guys, fantastic song inspired by the French composer Michel Polnareff : "Qui a tué Grand-Maman" (Who killed grandma's).
Metaphor for the growth of industries and how it affected small towns.
