Mazdaspeed3 Exhaust without resonators

Guys, a resonator is a type of muffler...basically a muffler has insulation around the outside that ranges in thickness and send the exhaust gases through a series of baffles to reduce the sound further...a resonator is a muffler without the baffles, just the insulation around the outside.

The speed3 has two cats, then three resonators, I've removed the first two resonators and left the third, what you are actually seeing is the exhaust pipe tip that's stock, not the resonator, that's behind.

why did you leave the third?? I would have been to loud?

Didn't want it to be obnoxious like a honda or some other little underpowered rice-rocket...the low rumble at idle makes it sounds great and it's not overpowering at speed. Overall a nice sound.

yeah i will probably do the same.. YOu save money nice sound. You only need a new dp

yeah, it only cost $100 to have the resonators cut out and a new pipe placed in, new dp would be great, but i'm moving to Cali and having a downpipe would not allow me to pass the emissions test.

You're right a Mazda 3 is not a rocket, but a Mazdaspeed3 IS!

There isn't a comparably priced Nissan, Honda or Toyota with the same stock horsepower (263 hp). A couple of engine mods and I'm making over 300hp in a car that costs under $25,000 out the door.

The 2011 370 Z has 332hp and the Maxima has 290hp, both cost over $30,000.

The 2011 Civic SI has a paltry 197hp for $22,000.

Toyota hasn't made a car worth having since the Supra and Celica.

So YES Tom the Speed3 IS a Rocket!

I have a stock mazdaspeed3 exhaust on my 3. There is two resonators and a muffler.

yep, much louder than stock, very noticible low end burble, the start up is pretty sweet

cats are still there, there are two resonators and a muffler after the cats, those two resonators (primary mufflers) are what were removed

thats what you think. remeber what i'm saying when you take the third resinator off..:D Also look up the definition of resiaotr its a straight thru design just like that muffler looking thing on the end.

I don't know what you're saying false to... This car doesn't have a muffler at all - it's 1st, 2nd & 3rd resonators.
