You may not like Gabrielle, which is fair enough as everyone is entitled to there own opinions, however to say she's not an Amazon is obviously wrong.

Actually,I think a lot of modern Women do aspire to,or at least attempt to display traits such as aggression to appear more Masculine.I think that the error is that many people,Women and Men...wrongly believe that aggression is the defining quality of masculinity. When you see such behaviour in a Woman, you have to ask yourself: "where does it come from?" because real masculinity is conditioned & controlled by Testosterone, so you have to assume that such behaviour in a Women must be a pretence?
We aren't talking about agression, a warrior doesn't need be solely agressive. You need to be skilled and disiplined which are traits the Amazons have.
Women don't aspire to be masculine. We want to be strong & independent and doing so doesn't make us butch/manly.

That's not my 'frame of reference'. Out of curiosity could i ask what is so powerful about amazons? from what ive read not much has been said on there battle capability meaning that they werent good or bad just average.
It was rare for women to show such independence back then. Most were either married or still lived at home with their parents where of course their father's dictated their lives. Amazons were tribes of only women and the fact that they wore such skimpy outfits was frowned upon. They were powerful in the sense that they were ahead of their time and sort of taboo.
In many cultures, women didn't fight beside men, yet were often killed or worse. A few cultures not only allowed women to fight but encouraged it, Sparta for instance. The idea of a tribe of women who didn't live with or need men (beyond sex for children) and according to legend only, actually killed them after mating, made for good "tabloid".

I love mythology, i've been reading about mythology from different cultures for years and i'm still learning lol.
I blame Disney's 'Fantasia', all their cartoons of centaurs and Greek Gods got me hooked as a kid XD

I used to be on a Debate Team so I love listening to conflicted points of view. In fact I just love creating counter arguements; hence why I keep replying XD
I'm not saying ALL men feel that way, infact the men in my family love seeing their wives/daughters as strong business women, and i'm proud to say that many of them are. I was just using that example to show how studies have shown that SOME men may feel threatened. It's not my personal opinion at all as the men I know don't feel that way.

Great work, this vid is fabulous, Varia is so gorgeous, Amazons in Xena Series were great, Ephiny, Velasca, Varia, Queen Melosa, Cyane, Samsara, and.... Oh Almost Forgot Amarice, yeah they were wonderful, Why I didn´t mention Gabrielle? cuz she´s not an Amazon and never will be, I hate her....; )

You may not like Gabrielle, which is fair enough as everyone is entitled to there own opinions, however to say she's not an Amazon is obviously wrong.
She may not have been born one but she was given the right of caste and did become an Amazon queen. And eventually she learned the skills that made her worthy of that title (at least in my opinion XD)
And Ephiny was definately one of the best Amazons ever!

Besides Renee and Lucy the Amazons was the main reason I loved Xena so much.
I'm still annoyed that they killed off Ephiny, she was and always will be the ultimate Amazon in my mind!

Why is it that when ever women show their independence people(mostly men) say it's because they want to be like men?
So if a guy shows compassion to his child is he being a woman?
Being free from the constraints of social stereotypes does not make them masculine. In fact the Amazons are a great inspiration to many women.
They are strong, independent and confident. Traits that modern society tries to squish in it's female population.

Actually,I think a lot of modern Women do aspire to,or at least attempt to display traits such as aggression to appear more Masculine.I think that the error is that many people,Women and Men...wrongly believe that aggression is the defining quality of masculinity. When you see such behaviour in a Woman, you have to ask yourself: "where does it come from?" because real masculinity is conditioned & controlled by Testosterone, so you have to assume that such behaviour in a Women must be a pretence?

We aren't talking about agression, a warrior doesn't need be solely agressive. You need to be skilled and disiplined which are traits the Amazons have.
Women don't aspire to be masculine. We want to be strong & independent and doing so doesn't make us butch/manly.
And agressiveness is not just a hormonal condition it's also a mental trait which can be found in both men and Women. Testosterone just helps to 'agrivate' the agression which is why men are associated with anger more than Women.

That's not my 'frame of reference'. It's been shown that men feel their masculinity is at threat when they work with independant women. ie. if she earns more than him, or if they go out and she pays for lunch. Therefore it stands to reason that they'd try to de-feminise women in order to lessen that threat.

The trouble is that the brilliant amazonian ideal has been hijacked, twisted and perverted into punishing men as lesser beings.
Too often we can see on UK adverts and the like the male figure is parodied and made fun of like an animal. This is what I'm talking about, feminism has been hijacked by militant feminazi's and the like.
Which is a shame when it could be so much brighter and positive.

@AlphaLuna87 coz actually testosteron is usually higher in male rather than female even if the aggressivity can be equal in both sexes but for different reasons, they point out that the independence is just "show out" the inner rage
The problem is that both sexes cannot survive without the other so no male or female is and will be really indipendent inside even if they claim it
Actually human instinct is more like wolves's one where we have both a male and a female alpha...collaboration

you're absolutely welcome! and keep up the good work. when i typed in "amazons" in the search frame, this is approx. what i was hoping to see. the song is nice aas well. old cyndi used to nail it a couple of times with some real nice numbers that grow unto you.
although there might be a pinch or two of pathos when the visual meets the auditive element, but i'd say it is still successful. it hits my sports-glory-n-passion-driven instincts within.
then again, i admit to being cheesy myself.

It was rare for women to show such independence back then. Most were either married or still lived at home with their parents where of course their father's dictated their lives. Amazons were tribes of only women and the fact that they wore such skimpy outfits was frowned upon. They were powerful in the sense that they were ahead of their time and sort of taboo.

In many cultures, women didn't fight beside men, yet were often killed or worse. A few cultures not only allowed women to fight but encouraged it, Sparta for instance. The idea of a tribe of women who didn't live with or need men (beyond sex for children) and according to legend only, actually killed them after mating, made for good "tabloid".
