i got the 901go, and i have to say, it's a very cool sweet thing. i love it...the 8 hours of battery power are not really 8 hours, but 5 hours are also very good.

but i haver broke my display yesterday (i am so a stupid idiot) but there is no problem to change it out.

I can say, everone who is looking for a good netbook can take this one!!!

Mine was ordered and will be in this coming monday 13th July, most reviews stated 4.5-5 hours and this cannot be beat for the price...I am concerned about the samll storage space of 12GB SSD...

it CAN get 7.8 hours max out of it, but only when wifi is off and it is idling. But for average use i can get about 4-5 hours.

I just installed ubuntu 8.10 on an eee pc and it works great.

Screw ubuntueee, easy peasy, and xandros (which are all closed source.)

Asus eee pc can be overclock just a click and 100% safe .... able to overclock to 1.9GHZ

I have a white 901, and it's good for the money, but i have issues with it.

Caveats:

20Gb of ssd is actually 4Gb + 16Gb.

The 4Gb is faster, but barely fits XP or any OS. The 16Gb is much slower.

If you plan on installing Ubuntu, know your battery life drops to about 3 hours.

The battery life has little to do with power efficiency. it's just 6600mAh.

(perspective) if you put that in a 13.5" macbook,it would last 7+ hours.

Windows XP can be used on this machine tho.

Yep, all of the EEEs have an SDHC card reader. It'll work great!

You can play games on it. Warcraft 3, Unreal Tournament, Maplestory and even WoW. All at decent frame rates. The only downside is it's pretty hard playing on a small keyboard and it's glossy surface makes it a perfect grease and finger print magnet (very annoying)! Another thing is the EeePC can get hot when playing games - not good for the battery and solid-state drive.

you could use the memory card reader and put a bigger flashdrive as a hdd...or an external hdd via usb...

i see what you mean but surely lugging around a external hdd with your eeepc kinda defeats the point of portability. And internal SSD's are bloody expensive still. im leaning towards the 1000 but i still got a soft spot for the 901. Know of any cheap 2.5" SSD's?

the cheapest i`ve seen was around 100-150$ at 32 gb..i also seen a usb2.0 flashdrive at 32 gb patriot xporter xt at 105$..all on newegg

i would prefer 1000 more because it has a spacier keyboard but is a bit heavier than the 901

YEA it is,on the back o the 901(where u upgrade the ram,u just take out the 16/8 gb ssd and put a 2.5mm hdd,they're cheap and don't really eat up batery life(I mean sure they eat more,but not enough to make you smash it to the ground)

np man...I'm in the same situation as u,although u should really be stuck between the acer aspire one(has bttr video card,120 gig hard,a lil bigger,lower baterry lie) and the 901 which only has 20 gigs but long batery life.....btw there's actually a vid on ytube where a guy ads a mini hard,i that will calm ur soul:)
