  • I REMEMBER.........GOOD TIMES

  • I used to sneak out of my 2nd flr window to go 2 the Music Box, I was 16 and the party didn't start till 1am. Also used to say I was staying at a friends house to go dance. Once I was 17 Mom let me go out and I'd stay until the doors closed at 7am. My Mom asked me if I was on drugs because I came home exhausted, I remember telling her it was from dancing. I cherish those days because now at 42 all I have are the memories of my Beautiful Loving Mother and my Music Hero Ron Hardy. House Head

  • I feel you 1000%, I snuck out my back kitchen door. Memories is right, I'm about ur age as well, but its in my heart.

  • My excuse was going skating with my big brother and having him drop me off @ the BOX....Late Saturday nights getting home just in time to get dressed for church...That was a long L-ride....and they sod more than juice at the bar....

I spent alot on trey bags.....

  • Yo....Michael AKA MAYOR BYRNE.....SCREAMING AND SPINNING from one side to the other

  • 8:17 of Freeman me and Boclair and Stacy (rip) would slam dance off this or better yet Sam and Chucky would have the whole entire floor.......

  • I was his record crate man I used to carry all the goodies to mendel high school and just to hear that sound from the bullet tweeters is like a fix I've been craving since 85'.........for all the ones who missed this you have not been to a party untiil you experienced the muzicbox....Damn, Damn, just one wish to go back for one night.

  • True that. Real Party, Real Muzic, forget all that do you wanna dance stuff. You could just jack by ur self or with someone..it just didnt matter and you didnt care. That's when partying was about dancin and just enjoying ur self

  • Im sure I was here I rarely missed any party

  • this is the bomb! i didn't understand the whole house music thing, until my first time hearing ronnie spin at the box.now i can't turn around. PUMP DAT SHIT RONNIEEEEE!!!

  • i love this recording. was it true that music box only had strobe lights? and the music was extremely loud? I would love to see any video footage of the insides of that place.

  • yes, Ron Hardy played the music extremely loud. The music box would open at midnight and stay open all night. When we did leave, we used to be drenched with sweat. It was like someone threw buckets of water on us.

  • Yes it had strobe lights and sometimes a smoke machine the inside was small and had a wood floor if you hear when he drops the bass you hear people stomping when you walked in the coat roam was to your left where Lance(rip) worked or Gypsy then you had a juice bar and a sitting area to access the dance area you went through a small hallway into the dancefloor with no windows just him and a big mural that said MUZICBOX .......God help me I'm crying at my desk.

  • The best place to be was on the stage in front of the fan facing Ron.

  • especially on Freeman just stomping trying to tear down the stage.

  • Whoa!! I remember that spot

  • @clevec

the coat roam was to your left where Lance(rip) worked or Gypsy >

I know you posted this a year ago. I just came across this on youtube and read your comment. I didn't know Lance died? Last I saw him was some years ago he was working at Mello Yello in Hyde Park. I remember Gypsy too. Man to go back just one night in time.

  • This guy is a legend in Chi-town. You realize he is one of the many inspirations that started Eurodance and techno. From a DJ standpoint he did stuff that most DJ's can't do after 20 years in the game. I still don't know how you can mix two turntables AND REEL to REEL tapes at the same time and have it on point.

  • Ron didnt do that, at least not live! He took a reel-to-reel to nearly every party he played.

  • I was there!

  • The last track is Freeman/Southshore Commission. I love this shit. Soundz great to me

  • Excellent Upload! Getting a massive duckskin

when the woman screams full in ecstasy =)
