  • a gretsch is a real mans guitar

  • man I'm jealous

  • A litille out of tune ;)

  • how much was it?

  • beautiful man, beautiful

  • way too much distortion

  • Everytime I see one of this guitars, i can hear Day Tripper in my head, and I just don't know why...

  • @Edu2503 Nor do I.

  • Are those TV jones pick ups? They weren't stock, were they?

  • they are.

  • GREAT SOUND

  • is it smaller then that gretsch in the background(srry cant remember the name)

  • White falcon.

  • white falcon

  • do you have issues keeping it in tune with that type of bridge? I hear they can give trouble that way.

    Thanks

  • hi john, actually both the roller bridge and the small version of the bigsby used on this guitar give some tuning problems. For stage and studio work replace the bridge with a adjustable tunomatic bidge, and replace the spring with the bigger bigsby spring or -as i do- replace the bigsby with a hard tailpiece. the roller bridge gives some "compressed" tone with soft attack, the tuneomatic gives more attack similar to a les paul. peace.

  • john, i just uploaded a video wit soundsamples (tuneomatic bridge and hard tailpiece) hope it helps.

(see "video response" or users other videos)

  • one is for tone and the other for pick ups

  • why does it have 2 pickup selection switches?

  • one is a "tone switch" - same function to a tonepoti.

    Peace!

  • fantastic sound!! this pick up are two filtertron?

  • yes, standard filtertrons

  • Wow....seriously.

  • Nice tone and playing. I got a G6128T with Bigsby last fall and love it. It does everything I could want musically, plus it looks great and is smooth to play. Modded the mstr volume to not roll off treble.

  • YEAH ! good taste in guitars

  • great sound man, looking bout one of these

  • What are you playing it through?

  • Wow it's the sound i've been looking for! And at such a good price! :-)

  • @skywanderer42 good price? how much did you see it for and where?

  • good guitar, i wonder if you could make it sound like malcolm youngs gretsch, though his has an arch on each side

  • if ur looking for another guitar to get a malcolm young tone he also used a Gretsch White Falcon through a marshall amp well u probably knew he plays them through a marshall same with angus

  • bigsby tremolo???

  • oh nevermind haha

  • great sounding guitar .. nice chords by the way

  • Sir

Is the other selector a an "out of phase" switch? do let me know!

  • no, its a "tone switch" similar to a tone poti. cuts the highs. its a typical Gretsch tool, check it in a shop. hard to explain. one position make the Pikups sond like a PAF humbucker, good for distortion sounds. the other make the sound very soft & "jazzy"...

    peace

  • gorgeous sounding guitar man.

  • Nice playing!

  • Hey man, I own one of those. are you using filtertron pickups or tv jones?

  • whats the neck like on that beaut?

  • the neck very comfortable...elegant?; V-shaped. check in a shop, i don't know any similar guitarneck.

for stage and studiowork replace the roller bridge with a adjustable tuneomatic bridge. For more attack check the Duo without bigsby.

  • The discontinued double cutaway model of the Duo Jet played even better than the regular Duo, but i love duo Jets

  • hey dude, i am trying to take the volume knobs off my duo jet. do yyou know what tool fits into those wholes on the side of the volume knobs? i can't tell if i need an allan key or a normal screwdriver and neither seems to work.

  • It's a regular flathead screwdriver. Try using one of the ones that are used for glasses.

  • sweet white falcon in the background ^ _ ^

  • go suck a dick kajar

  • I fell in love with these guitar after i saw David Gilmour playing his black Duo Jet, then I got lucky and saw one at a guitar center in kansas, so I had to buy it.

  • man i love those guitars, i have many guitars myself (25) lol

but ive always loved their tone

especially with the bigsby and the gretsch own pickups

    nice one mate

    steve

  • my favorite guitar of all time is the green w/ gold hardware version of his guitar!

  • agree! i have one of thoose

  • dude no way!!!!! Does it sound awesome?????

  • hi...i like this guitar....beautiful sound...

have you ever try a power jet too? it's the same guitar but with tv jones pickups...i can't understand what's the difference about the sound of this 2 models...

  • check the tv jones website for detailed information about powertron pickups; very good explained there!

    peace

  • I really like these Duo tones , but my goodness they are expensive.

  • What kind of pedals / amps are you using ?

I have a duo jet and just fitted a pair of TV Jones pickups (powertrons) and i love your sound. Not sure what kind of pedal to use as I have built a few BYOCs - Fuzz face / Big Muff Pi / ProCo Rat II

  • for this video i used: >BOSS GT8 (Crunch Twin Style Preamp > Logic Pro.

In the real world;-) i use Blues Deville 410, Hao Rumble MOD for leadsounds (excellent!!)

this faked sounds are quite similar to the original;-)

  • 1. is it the same size then a lespaul?

    2. If I play gun's n roses, ac/dc kind of thing...Is it good for me?

  • Hi,1. yes; but neck has V-shape.

    2. AC/DC rhytm very yes; Slash shred riffs more or less; a good LP has tougher attack

  • thanks!!

  • Doesn't Malcolm play a Gretsch?

  • Young? Yep yep.

  • hey, i live in finland and i want to order the same guitar.. i just dont know from where? when i look from ebay, they cost there like about 1900-2000 us dollar? you said you bought it 1200 usd ? was it used? can you help me find one ?

  • Hi! it was a used; watch ebay offers for a while; actually ther're no offers right now... mind that is always a little risk to buy it via web; always check the feedback and ask before bidding. shipping cost could be till 120$

    peace

  • loverly guitar my friend :)

  • i'm really considering getting this. i play worsip music at church and also play in a metal band. would you recommend it?

  • not for a metal band, but for worship, this thing rocks. hillsong united's guitarists use it ... several of them. my good friend uses one. sounds awesome on stage and cuts through the mix tastefully.

  • Well george harrison had on in the beatles :))

  • What you can say about more heavy sound on this guitar? For may be grunge or post-punk or just punk?

  • you can play quite brute sounds with this guitar but: it's a semi-hollow and the tone-developement(?) ist not very fast; if you need fast attack sounds: use something like a les paul; if you love long sustain with challenging harmonics: check this baby....

  • nice tones

  • is that a duo jet or a powerjet??????

    nice falcon in the back!

  • it's a japaneasy duo with standard filtertrons

  • I don't suppose you'd be up for making a video demonstrating the clean tones on this sucker, would you? I'm looking into a Duo Jet (left handed, though...) and never, ever play with distortion. Would you be up for even strumming just a few seconds on each of the tones you can get from this guitar?

thank you, even if you don't do this for a random stranger! :)

    Peace/Love,

  • Hi Peter; see @ More from: davesatellite3 hope it helps!

  • How much did the duo jet cost?

  • 1200 US$ @ ebay. (plus 100 shipping to Europe)

  • what amp?

  • sorry, no real amp used for this video; i played trough a GT8 (Fender Twin style), with the Band i'm using a Fender Blues Deville 410) For this Vid i tried to find a Sound nearest to the 'original' which gives a good picture of the sound of the Guitar. Soon i will post the new records of my Band Dave Satellite; you can hear the tube sounds there! cheers.

  • My next guitar is either gonna be an SG or a Duo Jet. I love both.

  • DUO JET!!!!!

  • is that a white falcon on the back :) dude you got some nice guitars!

  • Supiiii dupiii cute =D ^^ hap dich liep jeffü <3 =D

  • Ive got the powertron version which is essentially the same guitar but with TV jones powertrons. My bridge is fixed too, not sure about the duojet. Mine is black too so they really look identical...YOU HAVE A GORGEOUS GUITAR. I hope you play it thru a nice amp

  • WOW, amazing guitar and amazing tone man. What are the pickups on it and what strings do you use? Te sound like ernie balls.

  • Greger i use d'addario 140; and there' some ordinary filtertron-pickups...

  • More videos please!!! Especially of this guitar!
