hi john, actually both the roller bridge and the small version of the bigsby used on this guitar give some tuning problems. For stage and studio work replace the bridge with a adjustable tunomatic bidge, and replace the spring with the bigger bigsby spring or -as i do- replace the bigsby with a hard tailpiece. the roller bridge gives some "compressed" tone with soft attack, the tuneomatic gives more attack similar to a les paul. peace.
Nice tone and playing. I got a G6128T with Bigsby last fall and love it. It does everything I could want musically, plus it looks great and is smooth to play. Modded the mstr volume to not roll off treble.
if ur looking for another guitar to get a malcolm young tone he also used a Gretsch White Falcon through a marshall amp well u probably knew he plays them through a marshall same with angus
no, its a "tone switch" similar to a tone poti. cuts the highs. its a typical Gretsch tool, check it in a shop. hard to explain. one position make the Pikups sond like a PAF humbucker, good for distortion sounds. the other make the sound very soft & "jazzy"...
hey dude, i am trying to take the volume knobs off my duo jet. do yyou know what tool fits into those wholes on the side of the volume knobs? i can't tell if i need an allan key or a normal screwdriver and neither seems to work.
I fell in love with these guitar after i saw David Gilmour playing his black Duo Jet, then I got lucky and saw one at a guitar center in kansas, so I had to buy it.
have you ever try a power jet too? it's the same guitar but with tv jones pickups...i can't understand what's the difference about the sound of this 2 models...
I have a duo jet and just fitted a pair of TV Jones pickups (powertrons) and i love your sound. Not sure what kind of pedal to use as I have built a few BYOCs - Fuzz face / Big Muff Pi / ProCo Rat II
hey, i live in finland and i want to order the same guitar.. i just dont know from where? when i look from ebay, they cost there like about 1900-2000 us dollar? you said you bought it 1200 usd ? was it used? can you help me find one ?
Hi! it was a used; watch ebay offers for a while; actually ther're no offers right now... mind that is always a little risk to buy it via web; always check the feedback and ask before bidding. shipping cost could be till 120$
not for a metal band, but for worship, this thing rocks. hillsong united's guitarists use it ... several of them. my good friend uses one. sounds awesome on stage and cuts through the mix tastefully.
you can play quite brute sounds with this guitar but: it's a semi-hollow and the tone-developement(?) ist not very fast; if you need fast attack sounds: use something like a les paul; if you love long sustain with challenging harmonics: check this baby....
I don't suppose you'd be up for making a video demonstrating the clean tones on this sucker, would you? I'm looking into a Duo Jet (left handed, though...) and never, ever play with distortion. Would you be up for even strumming just a few seconds on each of the tones you can get from this guitar?
thank you, even if you don't do this for a random stranger! :)
sorry, no real amp used for this video; i played trough a GT8 (Fender Twin style), with the Band i'm using a Fender Blues Deville 410) For this Vid i tried to find a Sound nearest to the 'original' which gives a good picture of the sound of the Guitar. Soon i will post the new records of my Band Dave Satellite; you can hear the tube sounds there! cheers.
Ive got the powertron version which is essentially the same guitar but with TV jones powertrons. My bridge is fixed too, not sure about the duojet. Mine is black too so they really look identical...YOU HAVE A GORGEOUS GUITAR. I hope you play it thru a nice amp

whats the neck like on that beaut?
bebenavole 2 years ago
the neck very comfortable...elegant?; V-shaped. check in a shop, i don't know any similar guitarneck.
for stage and studiowork replace the roller bridge with a adjustable tuneomatic bridge. For more attack check the Duo without bigsby.

The discontinued double cutaway model of the Duo Jet played even better than the regular Duo, but i love duo Jets

It's a regular flathead screwdriver. Try using one of the ones that are used for glasses.

1. is it the same size then a lespaul?
2. If I play gun's n roses, ac/dc kind of thing...Is it good for me?
caiide 3 years ago
Hi,1. yes; but neck has V-shape.
2. AC/DC rhytm very yes; Slash shred riffs more or less; a good LP has tougher attack
