@hugatag yeah the tune keeps running around in my head too and "when i was young" eric really has a hold on me even tho i have not listened in years and have some of their first albums.
@windymeadows2 Very interesting,I grew up in the 60's and 70's and of course knew the Animals and many of their hit songs however I was really never hooked on them like I was on Cream,The Stones and Led Zeppelin.Personally and in my opinion Eric really is the King of British Rhythm and Blues. @hugatag yeppers your right. i loved eric. i keep playing his songs and out of the corner of my eye i would see "sky pilot" and it just did not ring a bell. i finally played it and could not believe i had completely forgot that great song. my daughter rembers all the music i played and has confesiated all my old lp. i have never heard this version of baby blue. great job.
Hi EdinWS4 - Thanks for your support for Eric and his brilliant version of It's All Over Now Baby Blue, but I'm going to delete your comment because it's offensive, especially to fat people who like cheap wine, chocolate and cream cakes.
@Dalgren969 Check out The Chocolate Watchbands version of this circa 1968! Like the "Elevators" they put out a pure psychedelic, 60's garage band version that is just sooo tasty! Makes me wanna drop a hit of acid.
@JNagarya because he wasn't a blues player at the time! he never had that voice and it's his song he made it sound however he wanted... it is not a "problem"
@zoeruls bobby d. was ALWAYS a blues player. The difference is that he didn't reduce everything to a single "genre". And I think it wasn't this song, but rather "Maggie's Farm" that was his kiss-off at Newport in 1965.
Don't get me wrong: I always preferred The Animals (and Kinks) to The Rolling Stones. (Burdon as a singer could blow Jagger off the stage.) But bobby d. has always been too complex to fit into this OR that category.
@JNagary i agree except for the stones part... i'd pick the stones over the kinks and the animals any day!! but bob dylan beats them all out for me. there will never be anyone with the genius of bob...
@zoeruls Dave Davies was one hell of a song writer -- though overlooked. The Rolling Stones can't compare.
And, again: Burdon would blow weak-voiced Jagger off the stage. Look up the 1965 "NME"/"New Musical Express" Poll Winners concert at Wembley. Watch both The Animals and The Rolling Stones. The Animals trump The Rolling Stones.
@steveatcho1 You've not heard bobby d. if you believe someone who's never been heard of is superior to dylan. Not even well known "superstars" can't equal bobby d.'s writing; he's head and shoulders above ALL others.

.. Heard all versions.. This is the best, cause of Burdon`s voice.... Awesome written song by Bob Dylan. I`d be honored if all these elite bands covered my song..
I first heard this album back in 1989 when i was 18 & was was hooked after hearing "Fire On The Sun" & "Just Want A Little Bit." But after repetiton i realized it was a magnificent blues album. It was great to crack open a 6 pack of beer & a pack of smokes & just bathe in the blues. I think i listened to this album for a month straight & it still holds up. Who needs friends when you've got Eric Burdon & The Animals keeping you company on the record player all night long.
Dificil decir cual es la mejor versión , quizá sea esta la que mejor expresa los contrastes duros y tiernos de la canción. La de Van Morrison o Dylan también geniales . Qué época de compositores e interpretes !! Irrepetible ??
I LOVE Dylan and I just had to hear this song with Eric singing it. I love it. So much emotion. Still like Dylan the best, but this is damn close... =)

I love Eric burdon, he is the master of British R&B but he should have left this well alone and just left it the Chocolate Watch band. He hasn't killed it like Springsteen has but should have left it alone in my opinon.
This song says it all. Eric and his Animals do it true justice. What you need to hear, though, is Leon Russell's version. Truly, something to celebrate.
Love this one. Own the long player since 1976. Think it's the Animals very best!!!
Also like the version by Them here on U-tube. Just like this one it sends the shivers through my spine!
Which is the ultimate version? I guess they both deserve that qualification. Each of them is Superb, in it's own way. They raise the hair on your skin! " Before we were so rudely interrupted" is an LP (CD?) absolutely worth having. More fantastic songs on this great record with Eric Burdon at his very top!
the album "Before we were so rudely interrupted" floped because of incredibly lousy management, once more, artists screwed by executives, if you have a chance BUY IT, you will not regret it, there are at least five very strong tracks, trust me. Thasnk you so much for the posting
great vocal !! i think this is one of the best or even the best cover of this amazing Dylan song:) of course nobody can beat the original version! but eric burdon has a very powerful voice! love it!
My all time favourite version...I love this entire LP!!!
