He's really trying to sound like his idol Bill Kenny of The Ink Spots on this one. The Ink spots recorded this in the early 40's I believe. Great stuff
ALMOST AS RARE AND PRICELESS IS THE ORIGINAL ELVIS TV GUIDE COVER IN 56' THAT INCLUDED IN IT, A 45 RECORD / INTERVIEW.
BUT EVEN MORE RARE IS THE SONGS HE RECORDED(OR DEMO'S) FOR "JUKE BOX FAVORITES" LIKE "ALWAYS LATE", "SATURDAY NIGHT". ITS SO RARE THAT ONLY ONE PERSON HAS EVER HAD IT. SAM PHILLIPS. MAYBE SOMEDAY IT WILL BE RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC. IT HAS TO DO WITH SOME SORT OF LEGAL THING WITH SAM AND RCA. EVEN NOW AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.
This was the day when Elvis was singing in a bar,and the owner said he was never gonna be a singer after hearing this. But he never gave up and is now the king of rock n roll RIP elvis.
Has it been established what month in 1953 that the very first single was recorded ?
If it was for his mama's birthday then it would be April 1953. But I read it may have been July.
Also we know , Elvis re-recorded "Heartaches Begin " for RCA four years later. I would like to know why he chose not to re- do "My Happiness", "I'll Never Stand in your way" or "Without You". Anyone has a theory as to why?
@victorbrunswick that's an insightful observation. one of the beatles' earliest recordings ("you'll be mine") is likewise an imitation of the ink spots. since they influenced both the early elvis and the early beatles, it makes sense that the ink spots are in the rock and roll hall of fame.
This is a priceless piece of history....Elvis was a natural even at the age of 18. It's kind of like The Quarrymen's 1957 recording the day John and Paul met. A raw representation of a talent in early stages.
Oh this is so great Aina. Didn´t know he´d recorded this one as early as in 1953. Goes to my playlist, so now I´ve got three version of this lovely song. Thanks!
