Mariah sang back in 2005 on BET Blueprint "Vision of Love" live. She changed it up and everything. I think it sounds better than the original. It is a lot more soulful than the stuff she usually does. Check it out here on Youtube. i think you will like it.

She's not one of the most successful artists of alltime for nothing. She's amazed not just fans, but critics aswell, which ofcourse is the reason she was given names such as "The voice" and "Songbird". The people she's influenced to become singers are countless aswell.
Sure, her voice is on the decline now, but even then, she can still outsing most singers with ease.

I am familiar with most of the singers you mentioned and agree that they are great singers also. I agree with you that sales have no bearings on talent whatsoever (i mean Britney has sold more records than Aguilera and from a vocal standpoint they shouldnt even be in the same sentence). Many amazing artists fall by the wayside unfairly and it makes me mad when i think about it...
...I guess lets just be thankful that we have discovered those not as successful but still phenomenal artists and singers so we are able to enjoy their music even though most of the world doesnt know about them. I remember seeing this live and I tell you it gave me chills and still it did the same today when I saw it! Mariah is truly a great vocalist and I had the chance to see her up close and hear her sing live. She was in awesome voice and she has a strong loving and sweet spirit about herself that I rarely see with celebrities. I wish her the greatest personal happiness one can see daily on this planet! I have all mariah cds. I love her voice,but certain but,every song isn't for every body.This is one of them.Pattie has a clear smooth sharp ,yet strong voice mariah broken up vocals didn't compliment her songs.I love Mariah but songs like this are for true soulful singers.

Comparing Pattie's version to Judy is like comparing a god to a mortal.Mariah is doing a tribute to pattie therefore I'm comparing her weak version to Pattie's power house version.I could careless about a comparison between mariah and judy.Neither version has moved me the way Patti'es have.

It's hilarious when people try and demean MC's singing ability, when her talent speaks for itself...
She's not one of the most successful artists of alltime for nothing. She's amazed not just fans, but critics aswell, which ofcourse is the reason she was given names such as "The voice" and "Songbird". The people she's influenced to become singers are countless aswell.
Sure, her voice is on the decline now, but even then, she can still outsing most singers with ease.

Don't know what anyone sees this woman, she's spectacularly average. I find her vocal acrobatics tedious. Sure she's got a great range but it leaves me cold. I could name a hundred black american female vocalists from the last 30 years who are much much better singers, and not just obvious names like Patti Labelle. There's so much better out there. She can SAANG but she can't sing.

these other women dont have her level of success because they dont have her level of talent. remember she is not just the most influential vocalist of the last couple decades but she is a great writer and producer. no disrespect to other great singers but talent wise Mariah is the whole package, there really is nothing average about her.

I'll happily post some links. And i really disagree about judging music purely by sales rather than judgement/informed opinion. I am familiar with most of the singers you mentioned and agree that they are great singers also. I agree with you that sales have no bearings on talent whatsoever (i mean Britney has sold more records than Aguilera and from a vocal standpoint they shouldnt even be in the same sentence). Many amazing artists fall by the wayside unfairly and it makes me mad when i think about it...
