Hey, Mirber - thanks for the reply. I play a variety of hand drums and have always been into doing finger-rolls but not necessarily developing finger-beats with just one hand. I definitely want to expand my skills though and I just recently bought the tri-sound Ibo drum by Meinl with the raw-hide covering - it's unlike any other drum I've had before but I'm stoked to work with it. Thanks again for the advice:)
@Dolstuizen Thanks very much! I tap my fingers sometimes as a nervous habit, that seems to help. But otherwise I just try to make beats using my thumb as a bass drum. Through practice I found that you can make individual fingers strike harder than you thought. If your fingers get "strong" it lets you vary dynamics a lot more. (I don't use pinky btw.)

Wonderful finger-work! What would you say has been your most beneficial method for learning such intricate finger patterns?
