  • omg.

  • I guess that the memory of Jerry Yang getting his asshole reamed by the late Tom Lantos (D) of the House Foreign Affairs Committee was fresh in their minds. The issue of net neutrality has yet to hit a boiling point over here, but it is a form of censorship that doesn't sit well with many informed sources. It is now up to the US Congress to back Google's play so that China has no recourse except the wild frontier of unfettered truth.

  • Google censors political views in Western countries, so it should not pretend to be shocked about Chinese censorship. While Google has not yet completely censored my website dealing with The Huffington Post’s censorship, the search engine has cut my website out of searches containing, for instance, the keywords “global warming” and “censorship” as well as “Huffington Post” and “censorship,” but interestingly not “Arianna Huffington” and “censorship.” Please see my YouTube channel (Xarkonul).

  • ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha........................ google must be brain dead. Hong Kong is part of China. This will only force China to extend their censorship there.

  • Good on Google, the Chinese have a repressive government with contempt for human rights and having tiny cocks makes them even angrier.

  • fuck! china!... who the HELL do they think they are?! NOBODY. That's who!

  • Google would still be selling the lives of dissidents if it was not for the Obama administration.

  • google wants to pull out, just do it. stop bullshitting. i hate hipocracy.

  • how funny it is RUSSIA is saying ABOUT censorship like they dont have it themsleves

    JUST SAD

  • Russia don't have any internet cenorship at all.

  • Google leaving China would be the best thing that could happen. Google is ruled by the pentagon and what they can turn up in their searches is tightly controlled in the west; nothing favourable to China for sure.

  • It's the "happy news" story of the year!

And such a long way to go before 2010 ends!

It's full of funny twists too, like spurned Google claiming to defend "free speech", there's the kicker...ROFLMAO

  • I don't understand why the Chinese are so pissed. Why shouldn't Google have the right to focus on its product in Hong Kong, where there are fewer obstacles in operation?

  • @MrTouchShriek.

Because China has a history of being bullied by Westerners. This is just a series of attacks by a Western firm on internal Chinese legal matters.

Plus, it's not even a leading internet search engine, it's the #2 FOREIGN internet search site in China demanding China revise it's laws.

  • why do the chinease even bother to have computers then, should just give them pocket calculators or something ?

  • If work ethics of Google and China dont match up, they better separate.

  • Google > China

  • >Good for China, google is shit anyways

That's why we are here -- on the site, which is "Google's" property. Though nothing is ideal. :-)

  • google just wants to start inserection in china cause they work 4 the CIA and company ,they cant attack military or finacially so they have to attack by using the chiness plp to attack each other its the same old tactiks they have used thousands of times there next in line 4 the thrown every1 knows that if russia doesnt take over 1st the usa is dieing cause of the feds practises and they all know it so this type of thing is the only option or ww3 and not many want that

  • China will kick arrogant Google ass out of China for good !

  • yes, freedom of speech is arrogant, we should follow chinas example, curing this disease with a firing squad,if you havent picked up the sarcasm yet you are an idiot...so a china supporter,yeh...

  • Google is now affiliated with the National Security Agency in the USA. Anything Google knows, the torturing spy agencies in the USA know. They torture people just to find out if they know anything.

  • China needs to get with the times. You cant watch everyone.

  • The tyrannical Chinese government will continue to steal American technology.

  • China hacking china????

  • It is just redirecting a webpage. DON'T MAKE A FUSS OVER A FARCE.

  • Google is just like every other biz that went to china to line its pockets, Down with the american workers, up with obama and Global ignorance. Dung Suey Chow

  • why only show this hack's opinion. applaud google for standing up to a tyrannical government.

  • congrats to google for making the right decision. people and human rights over profits. china needs to open up their society and allow dissent, this is the 2. free tibet!

  • Is the complaint really about censorship? Or googles ties with the CIA.

  • LOL those "hacking attacks" are totally planned and pre-medittaed by the very people who are now censoring Google's search results.

It's a way to get what they want. Make an attack happen and then justify it by saying we are blocking results for your protection.

Same thing happened with 9/11. Plan an attack and justify going to war by saying we are prottecting you from your attackers, when it was themsleves who attacked the very people they are protecting!!!!

    I'm sick of this world!

  • Google just piss off China ! a significant Down drop on Google stock might be in comming !

  • I wonder if this has anything to do with the Arms being sent to Hong Kong

  • Do you mean Taiwan?

  • @voodoojedizin since 1987 hong kong has increased its arms trade

  • @GeminiAzules

Hong Kong is part of China, so any arms trade with them would be with China. I still think you mean Taiwan, who recently did a multibillion dollar arms trade deal with America.

  • Don't do business with China, Google. It looks bad.

  • The CCP is run by a bunch of pricks. Their idea of law is that everybody has to obey it except for them. There is no greater disturbance to harmony than the brutish hand of a totalitarian government forcing obedience for nothing more than to maintain and extend its own power. It is a repulsively selfish and destructive pursuit made at the expense of the people whom it pretends to represent.

I applaud Google for their effort, but China cannot change while people let their greed foster tyranny.

  • i think google should be censcored by the chinese govt. i am sick of american corporations whining, they only present very little true fact. look at how usa/uk media is controlled under terror laws.

  • So you believe in freedom of speech, freedom to be and freedom to think should only apply to what you approve of?

The internet is a unique opportunity to demonstrate that over time we can evolve from a chaos into some semblance of unity with respect for one another freedoms and cultures world wide, there are existing censorship options for individuals like parent guard. It should be up to the individual what they chose to see and not see, not any one or collective government.

    cont...

  • If you really think you are not being censored by your government, you are delusional.

  • @mengwise36 That is not what I said, I said it is an ongoing battle all day every day and freedom should never be taken for granted.

What bit of that do you not understand?

  • Well Put my friend.

  • @SurvivalWithBushcraf Thank you :)

  • If it was not for Google and other freedom of speech sites and organizations that fight every inch of the way for everyones rights including yours you would not be commenting here neither would I.

If people liked yourself didn't take these freedoms for granted and realized how much work others actually do for you to enjoy these freedoms & engage in the same battle then undoubtedly it could be said that things would not be as bad as they are with the press & governments right now.

  • Try contributing rather than criticizing.

  • @sexybritgent Freedom of speech and disinformation are two different topics. You have the freedom to tell lies, but I have the freedom to point you out and destroy your credibility. The US gov't is an excellent source of facts for topics like science and religion, but has been infiltrated by greedy corpratists who want to control everyhing. Freedom of speech is good thing. Dave Mustane sang, "'Next thing you know, they'll take my thoughts away!"

  • good point, and btw brian scanners are on the way

  • @socomplete: watch?v=pnRq0pTVlIc

A nice little toy controlled by the mind. They've been working on this for a long time. This technology in this game can't compare to what is actually possible. If a crazed tycoon could control your purchase habits, wouldn't he try?

    Check this too: watch?v=40L3SGmcPDQ

"Mind Control Device Demonstration - Tan Le"

  • >i think google should be censcored by the chinese govt.

If only censorship about violence, anti-government lies and so on. If censorship will be harsh, people would be stupid and would belive to straight enemies' propaganda, as it was whith people in USSR. The best pro-sovetic propaganda is... western media. Because now I see that the Union was right about destuctive plans of the West towards Russia/the Union. China mustn't repeat this mistake, blocking all western propaganda.

  • Uh, Silicon Valley dude, I am sure Google was not signing up for Government-sponsored hacking into gmail accounts of anti-Communist Chinese.

    Hooray for Google!

  • Comment removed

  • >I am sure Google was not signing up for Government-sponsored hacking into gmail accounts of anti-Communist Chinese.

    1. You have no proofs about this: by gov-t or not. You belives to sinophob propaganda.

    2. I'll tell you a small "secret". When georgian nazists where whining that "Kremlin made hacker attacks" on georg. gov-t. In reality it was a D-dos attack done by ordinary people from internet forum. Everyone could participate. I did it. :-) Just download small bat-file and activate it.

  • Big China & Google are Watching You.

  • Get ready for a internet-style false flag!!!

  • They collect web search information and give it to our government.

What kind a freedom is that?

  • i do not understand why Google is making it a big deal.

anyone can use a proxy to access all the banned content.

but yeah. censorship is not good.

  • @Ristar85

Do not take freedom for granted, the minute you do it will disappear, people fight daily for the majority to keep the freedoms they have and extend those basic freedoms to others. I have to say it is a pretty thankless task most of the time but none could be here for example without it.

  • @Kinkspace

if u really believe that this Google episode is done for "freedom" in China, then i would say that u r mistaken.

  • @Ristar85 I do not relate to their motive I relate to the indevidual action.

  • Freedom of information.

  • Freedom of Search!)

  • they are in china, they dont have that option........

  • @StreeterTV

    What is your point?

I was suggesting they should have it and that it is a good thing

  • my point is they are communist and theyre government is very restrictive. so i wouldnt have free speech for chinese in my mind for a while
