  • ITS THE JOKER!!

  • chuck norris printer xD

  • lol that is so kewl

  • And this is how printers worked in the 90s

  • the point of their painting is .... gpu cpu related HOW ?

  • @Cobac

The point is the GPU is massively multi-processing. You can sort of think of it as like a 100-core (or more, I don't know exactly) CPU. It's not to say GPUs are 100x faster, just that the way they process is more suited for numerous tasks at once, whereas a CPU is good for intensive singular tasks.

A GPU is closer to the human brain in how it processes information actually, since we have many billions of neurons all reacting/firing at once.

  • why its nvidia ? Ati is better

  • @ 1:25 It's the Joker !!!

  • That was impressive! The painting reminds me of 8 bit graphics though :P

  • Watched expecting an informative talk about the differences between a CPU and GPU, left thoroughly disappointed.

  • Hmm just me or does that look like its from a atari? lol

  • How stupid to compare hands and feet!

  • haha thats so cool

  • whats gpu whats cpu

  • @flashallround Cpu does the processing, while Gpu does the visual stuff (what you actually see)

  • GPU stands for: Graphics Processor Unit

In does fairly simple task spread out over 10.000's of processor-cores sort of speaking... in order to calculate pixel information based upon a software-engine (driver).

CPU stands for: Central Processing Unit.

It calculates all of the math between the motherboard and other components in order to run all types of applications such as your operating-system.

  • @gunblade64 and it has to be at a certain clock frequensy to run games =D

  • 4 Tesla 1070s

    Two 3.0 ghz processors

    64GB of RAM

    Sweetest server ever.

And it can crack MD5s within seconds.

  • << Jelous

  • can it?

  • @Mentalikryst Mah gamer XD Intel i7 Xtreme Edition 4.2GHz (If ur smart u multiply the clock with number of cores)

ATI Radeon HD 5970 DDR5 x2 bridged so it is 4GB Graphic RAM

Western Digital Caviar Black 1,5TB each

    24GB Corsair RAM

    and some random Coolermaster tower...

  • @LifeRunner4000 24 GB totally overkill for a gaming rig. Games today use like 4 GB at most.

  • @maisteri my problem =D

  • @LifeRunner4000 Maybe the kids in your neighborhood are in awe of your rig, but to anyone who actually understands these things that sure looks kinda stupid. People tend to think more is always better, but it's total waste having something that is never used. But nice specs nonetheless.

  • @maisteri

Maybe he is using his computer for other stuff than gaming??

I agree, 24 GB is more that any game needs.

BUT 4 GB RAM is not a good idea with Socket 1366 and X58 chipset because they have triple channel memory. So the lowest you can go for I 3 GB RAM witch makes no sense at all.

I have 3x 2 GB = 6GB RAM witch is enough at the moment but there is still 3 more memory slots free so I can upgrade to 12 GB if I want.

  • Good thing they didn't have driver issues. :P

  • so its like...

the cpu is slower because it has only 1 paint gun to do the job?

and the gpu has like 1000 so it does it faster?

So 1 core pc < quad core?

  • As to your last question, yes and no. There are many factors that go into the overall processing power of a computer. The reason that a GPU is faster is that, while all of the processing cores go at a slower rate, it processes so many things that overall it is faster. However if you looked at a 1:1 core ratio, a CPU would be faster because it has a faster clock speed. If you have smaller computations than a CPU is faster. GPU's can process much more at a single time.

  • i dont understand... just use a bunch of paintball guns xD

  • It shows how fast a GPU can handle an incoming command vs how fast a cpu can handle an incoming command. The GPU has 126+ steam PROCESSORS while they most likely used a Quad Core processor. The gpu could handle the information faster, but neither could take the others jobs or they would melt....its pretty complicated but wicked cool if you know!

  • lol cool

  • yea its really cool shit once you know how it all works. But the amount of work a CPU does is what its optimized for.....if a GPU ever did CPU work it would melt its ass off, and vice versa.

  • not true. look at nvidia's supercomputers. they all use gpu's to process info.

  • lol, their basicly comparing a cpu to a gpu

Cpu for ure motherboard on ure computer

    GPU for your graphics card

  • Well that GPU is S*** xD

It didn't even you AA or any AF xD

  • yeah it probably couldent even run DOOM

  • So I figured, hey, whats the point in having a CPU if the GPU on my video card does everything! So I took out my CPU and.... Nothing worked. Can anyone advise how I can run my system on just the GPU kthxplz?

  • i hope that you are joking..

  • VEEERY much so!

  • wow

  • but you would have the best looking welt ever

  • LOL

  • NICE!!!AWESOME!!!GOOD!!!

  • That would leave one helluva welt!

  • I'm glad my games aren't running on that gpu...

  • haha

me: when did you guys build this thing ?

jamie: uh well, we kinda put things and a...

adam: we had a weekend off...

  • WTF

  • increible xD

me gustan mucho estos tipos hacen realidad todas las ideas ke yo jura ke nunca se realizarian ^^

    gracias por el video

  • not.

  • Jack Nicholson can do it even faster using his mustache.

  • Comment removed

  • Chuck Norris can do it faster simply using his pecks, yes overused and lame but it's a good moment.

  • Great I love them guys

  • I get a crack out of that every time I see it. I wish I was there to see it.

  • Lol they could of done such a better job if they put more time into it =D

  • lol ITS THE JOKER!

  • i dont really know anything about science tech. stuff but this was really cool. Expecially when they show it in slow motion in another vid. But anyways what is a GPU?

  • Graphics processing unit. why don't you look stuff up dumbass?

  • wow i wouldnt want you to be my science teacher man your harsh!

  • i think it means Graphic Processing Unit

  • Lol, awesome! xD

  • lol, the camera guy was right next to the barrels and he didn't even flinch

  • He works for the Mythbusters. Whaddaya expect?

  • Lmao, see all the little LCD screens in the audience.

  • its with a god damn paintball gun how good do u expect it to be

  • Uh... I think it's a joke?

And, technically, it's 1100 paitball guns.

  • what was jadam throwing out?

  • Plastic sheets.

  • hand grenades

  • next generation of printers?

  • did some guy yell out it the joker?????

  • Yah lol at 1:26

  • that was epic.

  • What now Leonardo?

    ....what now?

  • in his face!

  • fill it with bullets and take it to war ;[

  • rofl then we would own

  • imagion being shot by that thing! That would be totally awesome! and painful...but totally awesome!!!!!! >:D you'd probably kill that person....but it's still awesome!

  • but...it has eyebrows...

  • AWESOMEEEE!!!! that was so cool!!!! must have took a lot of planning and math! great job adam and jamie!

  • its not as hard as u might think, the thing mounted on grant's battle bot just took some programming, while the big cannon just took a lot of time to put together...

  • thanks for the info! i love mythbusters i watch it all the time

  • Ok. I'll assume you know this because you've done it. Right?

  • You sure get offended easily.

It's pretty obvious how they did it.

  • So did I get this right?

CPU is slow like a snail.

GPU is superfast, but it is loud as hell, you need a superstrong system to withstand it's force (like they needed to nail their "monitor" to the floor to protect it from the shear force), you have to be careful of "collateral" damage on your system and after all the parafernalia, you still get a pixelated image?

  • lol

  • i'd rather have a "pixelated" mona lisa instantly then have a circle with two dots and an arc and call it a smiley face (which took almost 30secs)

  • *rofl* I almost shit my pants xD

  • that was amazing but ive seen them do better on the show

  • They showed a slow mo shot of this and it's really fucking sweet!

  • lets see what other types of shit that thing can do

  • LOL that bad ass lol

  • yep...homer simpson made a gun that does that with makeup..

what myth does this prove or disprove anyway?

  • That GPU is better than CPU, instead of the other way around.

  • You are dead wrong. The CPU is good at lots of different tasks but performs slow. The GPU on the other hand is blisteringly fast in one particular task.

  • The whole point of the demonstration was to show that, while the CPU is more versitile in it's applications, it is slower when performing image work. The GPU has dedicated shaders and cores which are designed to work in parallel to do nothing more than render images. Thus, they can optimize the cores and shaders to operate as fast as possible to render an image in far less time than a CPU can.

  • Do the Mythbusters really believe and understand what NVidia were trying to say, or did they just get paid for all this?

  • That was exactly my thought. I think they swung and missed on this one.

  • You can't actually paint what looks like a genuine mona lisa with paintballs...This is really the best one could hope for.

  • If you think they did all of this stuff for free, you better get used to the phrase 'you want fries with that?'

  • What do you mean, believe what they were trying to say? This is how it actually works. This is actually the best demonstration I've ever seen of how it actually works.

  • in a sentence to describe why nvidia hire mythbusters to do is because

Nvidia is shooting paint in intel's face

intel is not going to be happy for this...

  • Very cool!!!

  • u should see that in slow-mo

  • a bunch of different colored paint balls were placed in stacked pressurized tubes, so it made a pixely picture by shooting all them at once.

  • ohh that pure genius

  • i think itd be more awesome if there were like hundreds of needles which shoot the paint/ink through the air at it to print a decent picture, i call it the ranged printer, copyright :)

  • yea that pretty cool, id think it would be better if they fired it at someone in the audience

or fire it at Hannah montana, turn her black, that would be as funny as fuck

  • dude, market that as a makeup gun. each tube aims in the right spot and it shoots the makeup right onto ur face. red and blue with the thing in the video could do "whore setting" at best.

  • Homer Simpson already invented that xD

  • Or fire it at this guy. He wouldn't even know what hit him.

  • Have tou ever wonderd how slags put their makup on?

    Now you know!!!!

  • A world record, free food, and this all in two days? Yeah I think those were the best two days ever.

  • You lucky bastard, I thought Nvision would be boring but that was amazing.

  • that is soooo cool!

  • muito bom....perfeito...!!!!

  • awesome
